Image:Carte_communes_caenlamer.gif[edit]

This image has been deleted, despite the fact that I had obtained permission from the owners of the image. I e-mailed the image owner (Caen La Mer local authority – PR department), who granted permission to use the image in Wikipedia, and I transferred their e-mail response to Wikimedia Commons. Why has this image been deleted? --Karldupart 21:02, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, no permission was registered for this image here on Commons. You should send a copy of the permission to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (see Commons:OTRS for further information). If the permission is ok the file will be undeleted by an OTRS volunteer. --GeorgHHtalk   21:16, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletions[edit]

You have set up Image:George_2nd_Cambridge.png, Image:Charlotte_Mathilde_British_Princess_Royal_Queen_of_Wurttemberg.jpg and Image:FrederickDukeofYork.jpg for delition because of the copyright status is unclear. Listen: Both Frederick, Duke of York, and his sister Charlotte died in the first part of the 19th century, and George, Duke of Cambridge died in 1904. The person who portraited this people have to be dead for more than 100 years, or guaranteed died for more than 70 years. I would appreciate to upload old pictures on commons without this much problem. Jon Torger (talk 20:17, 20 February 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I've changed it for Image:George 2nd Cambridge.png to a regular deletion request to exchange opinions about deletion with other users. --GeorgHHtalk   22:49, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:NambuLineTrain0804.jpg[edit]

Hello GeorgHH,

Thank you for asking about Image:NambuLineTrain0804.jpg. You stated that there is no information about who took it. However, that information is already in the image page. If any additional information is necessary please let me know.

Best regards, Fg2 11:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's ok now, thank you for updating the image description! --GeorgHHtalk   18:06, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prohibited names[edit]

Hey GeorgHH, I noticed you been busy protecting bad file names. I created a template, {{Prohibited name}}, so you can just use that. It automatically adds the page to Category:Commons prohibited file names. With a centralized template, we can add more translations to it later and track the files easier. Cheers, - Rocket000 19:11, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great! I thought about a template only for the description text before, but yours is much better. Thank you. --GeorgHHtalk   19:57, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. :) And thanks for all your work with those bad names. Cheers, - Rocket000 04:45, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've to say that also User:ChristianBier makes a lot of work with this job. And at least, the initiative to upload place holder images for this reason comes from User:Mdd4696. --GeorgHHtalk   14:12, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2 sourceless images.[edit]

Hi George. Saw you tagged Image:NASA cloudeffects.jpg and Image:NASA earth energy budget.gif. Went digging with the headers of these images in google and added site:nasa.gov and found several "similar" images by NASA that makes me believe both are derivatives of NASA images (search1 search2). I added a link to both of the images, but i'm not quite sure what to make of this situation. What do you think we should do here? TheDJ 15:40, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DJ, Thanks for your help! Due to your note about the google search I found the images at http://www.nasa.gov/lb/audience/forstudents/5-8/features/F_The_Role_of_Clouds.html. I've updated the description pages. Thanks again. --GeorgHHtalk   16:31, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wonderful. Good to have that resolved. I actively watch the category of NASA images, so whenever you tag any of them, I'll try to track them down (have done so several times already with success). TheDJ 16:40, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good job! Keep at it, I often see NASA-tagged images without a source. --GeorgHHtalk   16:45, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You added a permissions tag for Image:Christine Zukowski.jpg. The image was originally uploaded to en wiki by en:User:Laser braids. According to that user's userpage, there is an OTRS ticket that says that user has the right to license pictures from that URL. How would I go about adding that information to the Christine Zukowski image page? Awartha 20:10, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thanks for your advice! I've copied the permission-id from his user page to the image descripton here, so the image is no longer candidate for deletion. Thanks. --GeorgHHtalk   20:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Learning...[edit]

Hello! Georg HH:

Thanks for tell me how to upload images to Commons and placed into categories, the problem is that I'm rookie and I do not understand English very well, so for the moment not yet know how. I will try someone explain it to me in Spanish, because I do not know how to categorize the images. Thank you.--Goldorak 23:04, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wegen Leptis Magna-Fotos[edit]

Longbow4u 11:58, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New version[edit]

Hi,

We have an agreement with Marcus; we're just keeping the best version. I uploaded many separated versions yet as you can check it my history. But we currently have a pending discussion with Marcus for finding the precise accession numbers of the artefacts, as you can check it in our respective discussion pages—and that's why I just made my first uploads yesterday by recovering Marcus' files, since accession number is necessary for properly file renaming.

So please, just respect our gentleman's agreement; we both know what we are doing. Thanks. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 19:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

deleted image with an otrs ticket[edit]

Hi, Image:1976 Congressman Leo Ryan letter to Ida Camburn.jpg was deleted by you as No permission: noted permission was never confirmed (since 19. Mai 2007), yet an OTRS ticket was added[1] and, on inspection of the permission letter, it seems suitable. Could you take another look. Cheers, John Vandenberg (chat) 05:09, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello John, I asked OTRS member Codeispoetry to check this ticket here (in German). The result is, that we have no proof of identity of the person who have sent the permission email. --GeorgHHtalk   09:19, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the letter is covered by {{PD-USGov}} as it bears an official letterhead. Also I have strong reasons to believe that the email address of Ida is valid, which would cover memorial image. I think it would be appropriate to ask User:Smee and/or User:Shell Kinney to ask for better identity verification before overruling the OTRS ticket. John Vandenberg (chat) 13:18, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to ask the uplaoder. If he/she can provide reliable information, it's no problem to restore the images. --GeorgHHtalk   13:27, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Could you consider whether the letter image is acceptable under PD-USGov?
Codeinpoetry has pointed out to me that the OTRS ticket wasnt overruled - a clear license from an appropriate domain was not received. Sorry for the above incorrect wording. As I am quite confident a license can be obtained for the memorial image; I will try and re-initiate contact to obtain a better image release. John Vandenberg (chat) 13:36, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should I raise a deletion review for Image:1976 Congressman Leo Ryan letter to Ida Camburn.jpg to review whether it is acceptable under {{PD-USGov}} ? John Vandenberg (chat) 01:25, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello: This image got tagged for deletion even after I sent permissions back on September 30, 2007 and left notice on image (several related images, actually, all found here). I didn't keep the correspondence (thinking it would be kept safe somewhere) and just feel its abusive and disrespectiful contacting an artist twice because we deleted/lost his forwarded email. Don't really give a soup if image gets deleted, but Commons' users should be more careful with those emails. Wikipedia users go through all sorts of efforts just to realize that nobody even received/read or cared about their e-mails. It gives the impression we should be more concerned about sticking deletion tags than verifying their removal. --Gmlegal 08:24, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Cannabis_sativa_(101_0039).jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. You have to state who created the original image. All your version are edits of the original, so you're not the copyright holder. --GeorgHHtalk   09:49, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
State who created the original photograph is almost imposible because all of them were shot in 1937, and dissapeared all photographs from files and libraries. I've used more than one poor quality photograph to do a single drawing, trying to re-create one realiable image. If it has to be deleted.... I cannot do anything else.--Shliahov 10:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Before reading your message, I loaded Feldman1.svg. --Shliahov 11:02, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions by other users would be great to find a consensus about deletion. --GeorgHHtalk   16:57, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But... Is your opinion the same as the begining? I have added the stating about copyright that I found, and waiting other opinions, I want to know if anything has changed about it. Thank you in advance. --Shliahov 17:10, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, my opinion is the same. If you don't know the source of the image which you used as base for your image, then also you don't know the author, his date of death and the date of first publication. So the required information for {{PD-Russia}} aren't given and your images can't refer to it. --GeorgHHtalk   17:25, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. It is required to give publication source. I have for one of them, and I have to find for the second. Thank you. (I'm asking what else is needed, not convince anybody, sorry if it could be understood). I fill it now.--Shliahov 17:29, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hi GeorgHH,
thanks for processing my 5 deletion proposals of today. May I ask why those five appeared so different on Commons:Deletion requests/2008/04/04 as the others? Was that because they were cats and not images? -- Túrelio 15:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no problem. It was different because you did something wrong: You've added the same deletion text as you used on the image, but you have to add the text after point one at the deletion warning message. For example Commons:Deletion requests/Category:Gesäß: you've added {{Delete |reason=Redundant to Category:Buttocks. |subpage=Category:Gesäß |day=4 |month=April |year=2008 }} but it must be {{subst:delete2|image=Category:Gesäß|reason=Redundant to Category:Buttocks. --~~~~}}
Thanks. I'll try to do better next time ;-) -- Túrelio 20:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
With this Category:Buterfly one it did work. But really, couldn't the deletion proposal on Commons made a little bit more simple than forcing people to manually put code on at least 3 different pages? ;-) -- Túrelio 08:26, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how to simplify the procedure, sorry. But for obvious reasons like typing errors or misspelled category names I suggest you to use {{bad name|other category}} or {{speedydelete|reason}} intsead of nominating on COM:DR. Hope this helps. --GeorgHHtalk   08:53, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

Thanks for your information about the image deletion of badname and duplicate format. May I have a question? As I am the photo maker of Image Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown and Image Williamstown - French Creperie Restaurant, I thought that these two photos virtually are just a duplication of the same photo (I shoot the same object at different time and then found one is of a better quality although they were given a different name when I uploaded them). Would it be possible to delete Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg?

I am looking forward to hearing from your advice.

Thanks in advance

Donaldytong

Hello Donaldytong, Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg is not a duplicate, so it can't be speedy deleted. If you wish to delete it, you have to make a regular deletion request at Commons:Deletion requests. --GeorgHHtalk   13:28, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

Thanks again for your kind advice. I will follow up your guideline of deletion request format.

Best Regards Donaldytong

Hi GeorgHH

After following your advice, I completed a deletion request at the following:

Delete|reason=The photo virtually is just a duplication of the same photo – Image:Williamstown - French Creperie Restaurant.jpg. The object was shoot at different time and then I found one is of a better quality although they were given a different name when I uploaded them to the Widimedia Commons|subpage=Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg|day=20|month=May|year=2007

However, I got a message from the screen; This page is a member of Category:Incomplete deletion requests because it is incomplete (you failed to create the subpage [Commons:Deletion requests/]]. PLEASE fill in all five variables and create the subpage!])

Would you be able to point out for me where I did incorrectly in the above format? I have completed all five variables, but how to create the subpage?

Your kind help would be greatly appreciated.

Donaldytong

Hello Donald, I've fixed your request, it's now at Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg. You've used a wrong page name at Commons:Deletion request.
By the way, it's easy to sign your messages if you use the signature button from the the toolbar . --GeorgHHtalk   13:09, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much GeorgHH for your quick response to my questions. May I have a further question? I placed a request for speed deletion of Image:Elwood Beach and Melbourne Skyline.jpg weeks ago, but this photo is still remaining under my user’s gallery. This is an exact duplication of the Image:Elwood Beach.jpg although they had a different name when they were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Generally speaking, how long would it normally take for a speed deletion?

Please let me know your answer at your convenience. Many thanks/Regards

Donaldytong

It's the same problem as for the Williamstown restaurant images: Both images aren't exact duplicates, so they don't will be deleted. The image size is different and also the brightness. Image:Elwood Beach.jpg is an extract of Image:Elwood Beach and Melbourne Skyline.jpg, both can be used by someone. And for my feeling, Image:Elwood Beach and Melbourne Skyline.jpg is the better image (also it have the better name.) --GeorgHHtalk   14:31, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

You did help me and answered my questions in relation to the deletion of images in Wikimedia Commons about two weeks ago. May I have another question of deleted {{Duplicate}} and {{Badname}} images?

I found the following images are still remaining in my user’s gallery pages although they were completely deleted from relevant Category pages due to the reasons of {{Duplicate}} and {{Badname}} images. Image:Melbourne CBD Panorama.jpg Image:Ayers Rock View from 50 k Distance, NT.jpg Image:Remarkable Mountains Queenstown.jpg Image:Victoria Government House - St Andrews Square in McArthur St.jpg Image:Victoria Government House - St Andrews Square.jpg Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg

Would above listed images be deleted eventually from my user’s gallery pages?

Thanks for your kind help in advance --Donaldytong 10:48, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Donaldytong. I've deleted three images, but the other three will never be deleted because they're not duplicates even though they display the same objects, but from a different angle of view.
Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg would be deleted or not if another admin close the deletion request. --GeorgHHtalk   19:54, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

Thank you again for your valuable time in clearing out these {{Duplicate}} and {{Badname}} images.--122.104.80.218 08:27, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

Would you be able to review my photo gallery for the following images for deletion (they have been completely removed from Category: Melbourne in Wikimedia Commons);

(1) Image:Melbourne city skline.jpg is the exact duplication of Image:Melbourne skyline.jpg (2) Image:Shrine of Remembrance (North Side).jpg is the exact duplicate of Image:Shrine of Remembrance 02.jpg (3) Image:Shrine of Remembrance.jpg is the exact duplication of Image:Shrine of Remembrance 01.jpg (4) Image:Melbourne (CBD) Panorama.jpg is the exact duplication of Image:Melb (CBD).jpg (5) Generally speaking, how long would it take to make the decision of the deletion request (you kindly placed the delete template for me) for Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg?

By the way, does Wikimedia has the same deletion category like Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion CSD G7?

I am looking forward to hearing from your advice

Thanks in advance --Donaldytong 12:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Donald, I've deleted the duplicates. Concerning Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg: the deletion request pages have a big backlog, so it can take a couple of weeks till a decision.
Commons have no speedy deletion criterion similar to the CSD G7 on en.wikipedia, "Author requests deletion" will be discussed by a regular deletion request. See our Commons speedy deletion guideline and Commons:Ownership of pages and files#Deletion. Best regards --GeorgHHtalk   22:45, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

Your wonderful help and comments on deletion of images are highly appreciated. I had so many duplicated images because I found sometimes (not all times) when I uploaded a new version (better quality, e.g. light/shade) of the image to replace the old one, the new version did not replace the old image although it indicated as a Current version under File history. That’s why I had to rename the file and uploaded it again into Wikimedia Commons. Would you give me some helpful tips to avoid such events happen again?

The following images have been removed from Category:Melbourne and Queensland of Wikimedia Commons respectively, but they are still remaining in my photo gallery.

(1) Image:RMIT University Building 1.jpg is the exact duplication of Image:RMIT University Building 01.jpg

(2) Image:Port Melbourne Bay Street.jpg is the exact duplication of Image:Port Melbourne Bay St.jpg

(3) Image:Chevron Renaissance Restaurants & Cafes in Gold Coast HWY.jpg is the exact duplication of Image:Chevron Renaissance Restaurants & Cafes in GC HWY.jpg

(4) Image:Elwood Beach & Melb Skylinel.jpg is an error of the file name

(5) Image:Scot's Church in Collins Street.jpgis the exact duplication of Image:Scots' Church in Collins Street.jpg

May I take Image:Elwood Beach.jpg as a duplication of Image:Elwood Beach and Melbourne Skyline.jpg so this image could be removed or I should propose this image to be deleted under Commons:Ownership of pages and files#Deletion?

Thank you very much again for solving my problems occurred.

--Donaldytong 11:52, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Donald, please don't uplaod an image twice if it's only different in lightness or shade. For minor changes like that, use the link "Upload a new version of this file". Note: It is a server cache problem which let you and other users think the file wasn't replaced. Sometimes image changes are not visible immediately, it can take a couple of hours/days till the changes are visible in a gallery or in a wikipedia article.
BTW, the process of handling duplicates is labour-intensive and time-consuming because all uses must be checked and maybe changed. At the moment we have a backlog of around 5.000 detected duplicates, so please be patient. Thank you --GeorgHHtalk   20:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

Your clear message solved my puzzle that why a new version of the image uploaded did not replace the old one. Your tip is very helpful to me so that I can avoid such mistake in the future.

I have placed {{Information}} template to The images Image:RMIT University Building 01.jpg, Image:Port Melbourne Bay St.jpg, Image:Chevron Renaissance Restaurants & Cafes in GC HWY.jpg and Image:Scots' Church in Collins Street.jpg at your request. Please review them at your convenience.

Thanks for your valuable support

weird software question[edit]

Let me start with an apology -- you usually seem to be quite busy and productive here and this might be an interruption by a not so productive question. You seem to be running additional wikisoftware here often and also seem to perhaps know some of the things that go on which is what brought me here. The question:

Do you know of any software that might be in the beginning stages for the Quality Image Candidates page? It seems like there has been a bot running there for a few days that scans the nominations hourly for the string "/Discuss" (although it has not been running/working for the last 10 to 12 hours, or so) and then moves those gallery entries to the lower portion of the page along with some warning about recently or soon to be invented rules. It could be human, but it also could be the early stages of a software -- I think that I have been fooled by such applications before. And I have helped to write some that would do things and then end with a curt and trite comment and this one looked vaguely familiar that way.

Once again, I am sorry to take your time with questions which are more like guesses or guesses that look like questions. Thanks -- carol 12:26, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, you can talk to me anytime about everything. It takes much pleasure to help others - if I'm able to do so.
I'm not so familiar with Commons Quality images, but if I look around after you asked me, I assume User:QICbot is what you're looking for. This bot is also listed at Commons:Quality images candidates#How to execute decision.
If it's not applicable, I suggest to ask User:Dschwen or at Commons talk:Quality images candidates. --GeorgHHtalk   13:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I know QICBot and have chatted with Dschwen about it a couple of times. This had the looks of a new one -- I could be wrong though. Thank you very much for being so approachable. -- carol 13:50, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--309 HWR 12:34, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, nur Mut! --GeorgHHtalk   12:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Category bot question[edit]

Hello again!

Is there a software that will run through search results and put a catagory on images that appear in the list?

I was just looking at this search and it is bigger than my attention span and it starts with a duplicate. -- carol 09:38, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you should try AutoWikiBrowser. --GeorgHHtalk   09:54, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Eeek! I just can't do mono -- I can't do it; moreover, I won't do it. Quite possibly it is fine software; that is however a point where it got very personal for me and idiotic. One of the people who started that suggested from an email sent from an ximian email address that I start a fork of gtk+ (gimp toolkit) and the email was sent to my gimp.org addy. Stupid like that. I have less stupid reasons than that -- handbuilt gtk+; I already felt like I stooped when I installed gtkmm for inkscape -- and nothing against murrayc but at a certain point there should be a question asked of 'how many layers/wrappers do these tools need?' And seriously, when I first installed gtk+ (1.0.4 or some where near then) it was simply adorable and made me want to write things for it.
My dear GeorgHH, you have been like an extremely cold shower this morning for me. I think I am going to curl up and wait for the blood to go back to the extremities and wonder if that email is still online from all of that.
Eeeek! -- carol 13:58, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ghana images[edit]

PLease restore my Ghana images of Sekondi asap. I have notified Riana who was absent and I have even received a clear message granting use of them under GFDL. i do 99% of my work on wikipedia so I didnt see your messages. I posted an email to commons permissions and nothing was done about it. I had specifically sent another message to the flickr users to issue a clear statement that wikipedia is free to use them:

Well here's the message I received at flickr:

Hi James:

To confirm:

Wikipedia is granted use of these images under GFDL.

If you need higher resolution versions, please let me know!

Cheers,

I expect these to be restored asap, and given the correct OTRS ticketing. Thankyou Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm not a OTRS volunteer, so please ask an user from this list to check the permission. Or email again to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. If the permission is reviewed and wthin our rules, he/she will restore the images. --GeorgHHtalk   18:50, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

book covers[edit]

GeorgeHH, please help. I have been trying to add images and they've been deleted but they are just book covers. What if I get permission from the author? How do I go about showing I can use the image? Thanks in advance for your help and patience! Drewhamilton 18:25, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, as I stated on your talk page fair use material like book covers is generally not allowed on Commons. You should upload it with a fair use rationale to the English Wikipedia. To confirm a permission follow the instruction on Commons:OTRS. --GeorgHHtalk   21:24, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GeorgHH

The world has become trigger happy!

The above file is not a copyright violation despite what you say. As the administrator of SikhiWiki, I have been in touch with the author and have his permission to use the picture from the book. Please do in future be kind enough to check your facts. Further, if you had checked your facts, the image appears at SikhiWiki under the GNU/common License. I will reloaded the file again. If you have any further problems, please email me at: gbsikh@gmail.com. Many thanks and kind regards, Hari Singh 01:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PDFs[edit]

Could you please look into actual files before voting keep? Many of them are just plain text (spam/private biographies/etc). As Commons can't store all possible photos, so same think with PDFs - we can't store all PDFs because they were uploaded to Commons. And Wikipedia/Wikibooks are much better suited for plain text. --EugeneZelenko 14:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've looked into all the files for which I've voted keep. I'am free in my opinion and you are free to have a different opinion. My decision to vote keep is that only the fact the pdf is an text file is no a reason for deletion. --GeorgHHtalk   18:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Additional note from my talk page: Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. I've never seen a deletion request for text files like those in Category:De Wikisource book PDF, Category:Scanned German texts or Category:Hermann und Dorothea for the reason that they're scans of text. --GeorgHHtalk   18:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Question: Why you didn't nominated follow text files for deletion: Image:1991 FDA Psychopharmacological Drugs Advisory Committee.pdf, Image:AUTOCONSEJOS - PDF.pdf, Image:2002 Sklar v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue US Court of Appeals 9th Circuit.pdf? --GeorgHHtalk   18:57, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Amatzia images (see my talk page)[edit]

I don't care to read all the bureaucratic rules with regard to adding a proper source. I don't care if the image gets deleted.

For the record, I transferred those images from Hebrew Wikipedia, where they were hosted locally, onto Commons, so that I could use them in English Wikipedia translations. This is definitely within policy. I think I noted this somewhere on the image page or the upload log. If not, please add it yourself.

==[[:Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg]]==

Image deletion warning Image:Breizoz - A French Creperie Resturant at Nelson Place Williamstown.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.

deprecated function in your monobook.js[edit]

Dear user, I noticed that you use the includePage function in your monobook.js page.

This function is now obsolete, as the importScript function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library wikibits.js. It also keeps track of already imported files.

To allow us to remove includePage from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with importScript (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
