User talk:Geni/archive 1
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

POTY 2006[edit]
Please don't change the way the POTY 2006 voting page was designed! Before insisting on your version, I suggest you read the discussion on the subject here. - Alvesgaspar 00:46, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Licensing of wiki-tan stuff[edit]
I fixed the licenses and sources on Image:Wikipe censure.png according to your points. It was clumsy of me making such an obvious mistake. I'll take care of the rest soon. Rursus 15:17, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Portseacanalmap_1833.png[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Portseacanalmap_1833.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Female no free image[edit]
Hey! I haven't seen you on IRC lately so I'll leave you a note here - I finished the (rough first version of the) female no free image. Needs some work, especially on the hair over her right shoulder (your left), but it's better than nothing :) Let me know if you want something different or if you don't like the curly hair, I can try something else. -- Editor at Large • talk 05:21, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- *ahem* I have one shoulder higher than the other, who says humans are perfectly symmetrical? ;) I just moved nodes about to get a shoulder-like shape, so they aren't perfectly even; and the hair does need a lot of fixing, it's a bit out of control. I'm going to try a smooth-haired version now to see if it is any better. -- Editor at Large • talk 10:20, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Completely new one. I like a lot more - your opinions? -- Editor at Large • talk 12:32, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Your RfA failed[edit]
Unfortunately your overdue RfA has failed with with 11 supports, 4 oppositions, and 1 neutral vote, but please do not feel discouraged. You will have another chance.--Jusjih 14:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Semaine_Barricades_Alger_1960.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Congratulations, Dear Administrator![edit]
Geni/archive 1, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and Commons:Deletion requests), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.
Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading.
Please also check or add your entry to Commons:List_of_administrators and the related lists by language and date it references...
Congratulations. Your perseverance is commendable and I look forward to working with you further. ++Lar: t/c 03:08, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Recent protections[edit]
Hey thanks for protecting those pages. I should have figured they were on the front page somewhere. Cheers, →Rocket°°° 00:33, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Video[edit]
I have a few personal notes at User:Rama/video commands. For instance, I erased the sound part of Image:Plasmaball_vid2.ogg with
mencoder Plasmaball_vid2.ogg -o Plasmaball_vid2_nosound.ogg -ovc lavc -nosound

Deletion of my image[edit]
Hey Geni! Could you please tell me why you deleted my photo from the meetup with only the edit summary as reason and notice, which states "scope". How come Gordo and Harrys pictures, also hosted on Commons, have not been deleted. Poeloq 00:32, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
