Nilda Garré[edit]

Hi there! It seems like you keep on erasing files related to Nilda Garré from Commons, even though I think these files are under the right license all right. Can you give me an explaination on this subject, please? Maybe I didn't understand this licenses thing at all. Regards. --Lord Trustworthy (talk) 16:22, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the license on the flickr page where the deleted images come from is a non-commercial license. These licenses are not allowed on Commons, see COM:L. Regards, --Funfood 16:36, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

--Moros (talk) 08:51, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Moros, die Fotos wurden mit {{speedydelete|Violation of personal rights (Portrait rights): No one has authorized the publication of this pictures. Please delete it immediately.}} getaggt.

solve em all[edit]

In case this is not legally possible: The right to use this work is granted to anyone for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law."

Und das ist ja wohl Käse. Nochmal im Detail: "This file is in the public domain, because dieses Pressephoto 1950 entstanden war." Liliana60 hat mich darauf aufmerksam gemacht. Ich weiss nicht, was man hier machen soll. Vielleicht hast du ja eine Idee. Neue Admins adminisieren bekanntlich gut. ^^ Gruss und Kuss, stanzillius --Stanzilla (talk) 18:31, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wegen URAA leider nicht PD in USA. Kann lokal auf dewp hochgeladen werden. --Funfood 19:31, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Seiteninformation" zu http://einestages.spiegel.de/external/ShowTopicAlbumBackgroundXXL/a4904/l9/l0/F.html#featuredEntry lautet "Bundesrepublik,Nachkriegszeit,Schmuggel,SPIEGEL ONLINE,DER SPIEGEL,einestages,meinestages,Informationen,Kolumnen,Forum,Diskussion,Debatte,Community,Geschichte,Zeitgeschichte,History,Zeitzeugen,20.

Deleting talk pages[edit]

Hi,

Please do not forget to delete talk pages also: [1]. Best regards, Yann (talk) 15:26, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oops - didn't notice while deleting with VisualFileChange. Will take a look in future! Tx for the advice --Funfood 15:38, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Should VFC mention that there are talk pages? Should it delete them automatically? Thoughts? -- Rillke(q?) 16:45, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Would be helpful, yes. If there's a batch of images to delete, one won't check every single filepage manually. --Funfood 17:19, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
At least they get a t now. Short in time lately. HNY. Best -- Rillke(q?) 01:04, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate tagging[edit]

Please see my comment at User_talk:Leighblackall#File:Leighblackall-2193595519.jpg. --John Vandenberg (chat) 06:07, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I answered there. --Funfood 06:44, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Funfood. Please slow down on the deleting. You left a new message on my talk page, then proceeded with deleting a file for the second time without responding, or checking the notes I left on the file's discussion page. Could you reinstate the image for a time, so that we can wait for a response from the Flickr user as to whether they changed their license and if they agree to change it back? I think my lesson in all this, is to not make derivatives from Flickr images and load them to Commons, because Flickr users can delete, change licenses or delete their accounts, which break our attributions in Commons, and result in people deleting them from Commons. Sigh.. all this was meant to make reuse easier! leighblackall (talk) 08:40, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Leighblackall, I didn't delete any of your files, I just pointed out the lacking sources/permissions. I think before the images are undeleted again, it would be better to wait for a change of license on flickr. Greetings --Funfood 09:04, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Josh Skinner Publicity 2012.jpeg - copyvio[edit]

Hey! I'm sorry about this but this is an obvious copyvio. It is beyond me how to deal with this on Commons (en I'm all there but this is not my territory). Could you maybe handle this as someone who is well-versed in Commons?

Thank you in advance. Panyd (talk) 22:36, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Laubfrosch[edit]

Ich halte Ausschau was passiert. Viele Grüße!--Geyersberg (talk) 21:58, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sollte so passen nun :) Viele Grüße zurück --Funfood 22:01, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmm, for me it was quite obvious speedy, but if you do really have different opinion and want to wait seven days, it's easy, as an administrator you can click and restore.

Is “Arabic” a language?[edit]

… or you think of it as about a script? I would prefer that it remained a language. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 14:53, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just categorized it like that, because the category "Diagrams in Arabic" existed - I don't know if another category would fit better and would like to leave such decisions to native speakers/writers. Greetings, --Funfood 18:58, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it's in Farsi (language) which would explain the fa in the file name. An Iranian native told me that the difference between Farsi and the Arabic Language is comparable with the difference between English and German. So we should probably not mix them up :P -- Rillke(q?) 19:33, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
LoL, kick this “Iranian native” away ☺
Farsi is an Indo-European language, although it loaned some vocabulary from Arabic (comparable to Greek and Latin loanwords in English) and uses a modified version of Arabic script. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 07:38, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kategorien[edit]

Hallo, Funfood! Meine lautet: drhschneider@netcologne.de Beste Grüße!--Geyersberg (talk)

Happy Holidays!
G'day, just a quick greeting wishing you and your family happy holidays and all the best for 2014. And of course, a big thank you for putting a leg up by doing what you do on Commons, and helping to make it the fantastic project that it is. File:PharroAndArdoxsho.jpg[edit]

Hallo Funfood.

Dort hieß es "Due to recent studies conducted by Dr. Isabell Johne - Faculty of Southern Asian Art of the Freie Universität Berlin."

De-adminship warning[edit]

This talk page in other languages:

Dear Funfood, I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.

If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section/Feb-Mar 2015 within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.

You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.

Thank you, odder (talk) 20:46, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Funfood,
it is with a regret that I inform you that you had your administrator rights on Wikimedia Commons removed today by a Wikimedia steward upon your request on the inactivity section. I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for your efforts and contributions in making Wikimedia Commons what it is today. If you'll feel like doing so at some point, please feel free to re-apply for adminship at COM:RFA. Again, thanks for all the help you gave us, and (hopefully) see you back soon! --Steinsplitter (talk) 19:45, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
-- Rillke(q?) 22:45, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for everything, @Funfood, and the best of luck with your future endeavors, whatever they might be. odder (talk) 21:20, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your VFC installation method is deprecated[edit]

Hello Funfood, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:24, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Galambos Tamás with owl.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Galambos Tamás with owl.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.
