Category burning aircraft[edit]

Dear FotoFree
You added category „burning aircraft“ to a simple engine start.
I don’t think this is apropirate. Do you want to remove it yourself if you think the same at a second view?

Regards--Caumasee (talk) 08:52, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Caumasee: Many thanks for taking the time to feedback - much appreciated as I am certainly a layman when it comes to aircraft! I have now learnt that these flames are a normal part of engine start-up! It's a great photograph, so I wanted to potentially draw attention to the extra dramatic element of the shot, for the benefit of other users. I do indeed agree that Category:Burning aircraft is not appropriate and apologize for allocating it. Fresh from my new knowledge of engine start-ups and still wanting to promote this picture more widely; I propose to change that incorrect category to: Category:Aircraft engine starting if you agree? I note a similar picture: File:Lockheed Constellation N749NL fiery startup engine nr 2.JPG is already there. Let me know. Many thanks again. FotoFree (talk) 12:35, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
of course I never noticed this really appropriate category of Category:Aircraft engine starting - well done and thanks! Regards --Caumasee (talk) 12:56, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Thanks. FotoFree (talk) 13:00, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Tallukh Film Poster.jpg[edit]

Hello FotoFree i saw you deleted a poster uploaded by me on wikipedia commons, i would like to let you know its my original work and it isnt registered for any kind of copyright. Can you please let me know how to get it back and prove my situation? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiSantashines (talk • contribs) 05:13, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiSantashines: Thank you for you enquiry about File:Tallukh film poster.jpg that was recently deleted; I am sorry this was disappointing for you. It was deleted in accordance with policy as it appeared to be a copyright violation – see COM:POSTER. I am a little confused by your statement that is was your original work and it isn’t registered for any kind of copyright, as you uploaded the work from IMDb which states it is a work by AnuragJha Creations and indeed displays the copyright tag © AnuragJha Creations. Also, you attempted to set out a Fair Use rationale and stated in the caption: … The poster art copyright is believed to belong to the distributor of the Film, the publisher of the Film or the graphic artist or similar wording. Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files which can be freely used by anyone for any purpose, including: use in any work, creation of derivative works, commercial use and free distribution. That is why copyright status is so important here, and anything which breaches copyright has to be deleted. ‘Fair Use’ criteria does not apply here: see Fair Use on Commons. HOWEVER; Wikipedia, itself (i.e. not Commons) may allow the hosting and limited use of a low resolution ‘non-free’ image in an article, where the item is itself the subject of the article, as this may constitute ‘Fair Use’. A detailed Rationale must be provided to show how the criteria for this are met – a reviewing editor will have the final say on this. Please have a read through the policy and guidelines at Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. This template, specifically for posters, would then be attached to the Wikipedia image file page – it also includes a useful summary of instructions for the uploader. Please see this file: Wikipedia File:Gulabo Sitabo poster.jpg as an example of how this works. Please note that this poster image file is hosted on Wikipedia itself not Wikimedia Commons. If you think this fits your situation, do have a go at this, and I wish you every success with it. However, if this is indeed your own work (i.e. you are AnuragJha Creations) you would need to prove this and that you are now freely releasing the work / rescinding the © at IMDb above. You can start the process at the request undeletion page. Further instructions are there. P.S. I am not an Admin, the Admin which deleted the file was @EugeneZelenko: but they were largely following my observations. You may want to appeal to them in the first instance or otherwise submit your undelete request on the above page. I hope this helps. Many thanks. FotoFree (talk) 12:52, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Local lockdowns in England[edit]

Hi FotoFree, I've added your very useful Leicester lockdown map to a new page I've written for Wikipedia today, COVID-19 local lockdown regulations in England. I was wondering if you might be able to find some time to do similar boundary charts for the other local regulations that I've listed on that page? Several have been published in the press, but none to my knowledge are free to use. All the best MichaelMaggs (talk) 17:12, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MichaelMaggs: Many thanks for your kind comments. Your lockdown article does look great so I do hope I can contribute towards it. I will have a look to see what I can do, although I may be limited in time for a while. One tip you may want to follow-up though is a guy, pointed out to me by another user, whose map work I have linked to on the Leicester map file page: Alasdair Rae. Here is a link to his bio page: ALASDAIR RAE. As you can see he is an academic with a real flair for maps - he will knock spots off any offering I can do. I think it will be a real bonus if we can entice a man of his talents into the Wiki-world. Just a thought.... Many thanks. FotoFree (talk) 07:57, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging[edit]

Hello, FotoFree! Just a little tip: pings & user-links only send a notification when they’re posted in the same edit as a four-tilde signature. Adding or editing them after the fact doesn’t do anything without another sig as well.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 14:56, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Odysseus1479: Many thanks for that tip, most appreciated! Didn't know that but always good to pick up these little gems of info... Thanks for taking the time to point it out. FotoFree (talk) 09:38, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Football Manager 2021 Artwork[edit]

Hi FotoFree! You logged a copyright violation on the Football Manager 2021 artwork on Wikipedia Commons. I work for Sports Interactive, the company who own the copyright on that image. Could you advise on how I can remove that copyright infringement notice or amend the copyright tag that's currently listed on the image? Thanks —TommyD1990 (talk) 09:56, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:HM Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 13:07, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback right given[edit]

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Commons:Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 13:07, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Mdaniels5757: many thanks for those two rights expansions. Your vote of confidence is very much appreciated! Thank you. FotoFree (talk) 15:12, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
