Dear filbo, I'm oscar quiñones daughter, I own those pictures, landascapes, sculptures, etc. are in my home and nor for sale. Most of those images were published in newspapers since 1950 to 1987. The movie pictures were also published in news papers in 1950 and are pictures themselves. Those are not scaned from newspapers in fact none of them. Now I try to fix the date of publication but I can't I presume my wiki skils are not good enough. Could u help me please?

Hi, thanks for your message. I was a bit puzzled what to licence this as - a book cover with photo (litho'd) incorporated in a printed design, all one, from 1888 and scanned by me in 2008! Odd combination. I have chosen PD-UK-unknown as the book doesn't say who the designer was, though the publisher's name is given in the details grid. Publisher English, printer German. Otherwise I suppose maybe PD-self as I scanned it? A word of advice from you on such examples would be appreciated (much)! Thanks, if this isn't enough please let me know. This procedure is driving me crazy...! I wanted to import a picture that I took (so, that makes me the owner, the copyright holder, etc..) and I keep getting messages to the effect that there is a problem, but the message does not state clearly what the problem is and what solutions are available. Instead, I am directed to an endless string of links, and cannot connect directly with whoever rules this thing. Can I get help? Difficulties in adding license information after uploading image

Your 'bot contacted me after I had uploaded Image:Green-McAdoo-ClintonTN-enhanced.jpg with a description but no license information. This was a modification of another user's image. I skipped the license step in the initial upload because I wanted to go back to the original image to check its license type. I discovered that once the file was uploaded, I could no longer access the pull-down menu of license types, and I could not find documentation in the Commons Help area on how to add a license after an image was uploaded. notification received even after adding licensing info

I received a notification from Filbot about insufficient licensing info on some images I had uploaded. I added the required info but I am still getting the notification. Also, I dont understand what is meant by

I don't quite understand the copyright "things" of the image files to upload them , so this time I wanted to use and image is in english Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Snagglepuss.jpg) in the Spanish Wikipedia, so what better than to upload it on WikiCommons? I thought. And then I found out it does not have the right licence. I just copied EVERYTHING is written in the english project and pasted it in the Wiki Commons just in case. But apparentely there's something wrong... The image is there since November 2004, but probably the requirements for Wiki Commons are different from Wikipedias or soemthing... Problem

Hello, mi nickname is marcelo campos. Your bot sent me two messages about regarding a description in two images I have added. I thought I could possibly add new images without problems, specially about certain landscapes in may country, Argentina. I thought I had understood the steps I had to cover to do it, but apparently I didn't get it completely.

I have been editing in Wikipedia for one year, and I have added 200 articles, but I could do it, because instructions in Wikipedia are simple, not restrictive, and are redacted in every language, including mine. Now I find that adding files to Commons is not that simple: the instructions ar not very clear for people without experience in technical language, the restrictions are very severe, and most of the instructions are in english. As you can see, I can write some lines in an intermediate level of english, but I don't understand technical instrucitons.

If I don't find help or instructions in my language, I will probably quit addings files to Commons. It's a pity, because probably much more people is keeping out of this interesting project because of this kind of problem.

Evidently, I can't solve the problem with the two images, so soon the y will be erased.

Hey there, I have some problems to verify the right license and tag for my two picture which has been already deleted. The copyright of these images belong to a band which I'm writing a wikipedia article for. They allowed me to use these images for the article (the allowed me to set up the article, as well). I tried to follow the licensing rules but I have to admit this is the most confusing explanation that I have ever encountered. What I'm trying to do is very simple: I found the photographer of this picture on Flickr and he sent me an email granting GNU permission to post it on Wikimedia Commons. And despite all the explanations on the website, I guess I did something wrong, although I have not figured out exactly what. The automated bot does not explain what I need to do. Hi i was wondering if you could take a look att the following permission on it.wiki it:Wikipedia:Autorizzazioni_ottenute/Stemmi, not great at italian but it seems to me as though there is no explicit statement (similar to in Commons:Email templates) allowing commersial use and derivative works. I already chose the desired licence tag twice and your bot still keeps complaining. As far as I can evaluate the situation, I do not know what the problem is.

The photo was shot by myself, with my camera, there are no company logos or persons or anything else pictured, that might be a problem. I published it under the cc-by-sa-3.0 licence, that means Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 Unported.

The idea behind the image is, that it shows the use of typically austrian vocabulary in contrast to the Standard German used in Germany and it is supposed the be part of the article in the German Wikipedia concerning the Austrian Standard German. Gules_a_bend_or.svg

Qualcuno sta sostituendo alcuni stemmi (ad esempio Blason_ville_fr_Villespy_(Aude).svg e Blason_famille_Noailles.svg) con altro stemma (Gules_a_bend_or.svg) solo perché ha la stessa blasonatura e, quindi, lo stesso disegno (di rosso, alla banda d'oro). Tutto ciò può sembrare molto logico e funzionale ma, in realtà, servirà solo a rendere impossibile a chi ricerca l'immagine degli stemmi delle città di Villespy e di Noailles di trovarli. Non sarà infatti possibile fare una ricerca per nome di file e non sarà possibile nemmeno cercare per categoria (Coats of arms of cities in Aude e Coats of arms of cities in Corrèze rispettivamente) perché chi ha fatto la sostituzione ha linkato Gules_a_bend_or.svg con entrambe le categorie, ma ora non compare più il nome della città, ovviamente. A questo punto l'unico modo per trovare lo stemma di Noailles è quello di cominciare a girare per le varie wiki finché se ne trova una che riporti quello stemma. Tieni conto che per molto tempo la wiki francese non ha riportato gli stemmi civici negli articoli delle città, ma solo negli armoriali. Chi non conosce il sistema è bloccato. Avevo già cercato di far capire aun altro amministratore che in araldica il disegno è solo una parte del problema, il nome è altrettanto importante, ma mi pare che il concetto non sia stato acquisito. Ripeto: ciò che è ovvio e logico nella gestione dei dati e dei database (e lo dico come persona che ha utilizzato i database relazionali per gli oltre trent'anni della sua vita lavorativa) non lo è altrettanto in araldica (e probabilmente in altre 50 discipline che non conosco e su cui non mi pronuncio). Ti chiedo dunque di voler valutare il problema e portarlo all'attenzione degli amministratori di Commons prima che gran parte delle informazioni araldiche oggi presenti vada definitivamente perduto in nome di una presunta maggiore efficienza. Hello Filnik. I attached a file that has been declared by the user to be public domain and has not been a problem for the English Wiki. So, if I had cited the user ID of the author and if this file is OK with the administrators of the English site and the file is PD, what prohibits me to copy it to the Commons? I may not understand much, but I know the definition of public... means fair use for ANYone. Or am I a wrong? and regarding Image:New-definition-of-hang-over-at-Kodak-t.JPG - it is a picture that I personally took and decalred it to be PD. Whaty more is needed to satisfy the public. Your bot has written many messages on my page, User talk:Drabel, complaining that photos I have uploaded lack source information. I don't understand the problem. I'm a new user, as far as pictures are concerned, and I have some trouble with English (a friend has written this message for me.). I have spent many hours, which I can't really spare, trying to figure out the problem, and it seems to me that I do give source information, at least for most of the images. Please tell me more specifically what to do! uploading pictures

bot leaving inappropriate messages

A bot gave me a message whilst I was writing the details for the image I had just uploaded. I was in the process of giving it a license tag. The message arrived about 1 minute after the image was uploaded and threatened with blocking. I feel that this is not appropriate to give such a message so soon after an upload. Vague message about licence. Bot gone mad?

I got a bunch of messages about licence issues. I specified GFDL and self-made. What else is required? The version of GFDL? Could the error/warning messages be made more specific? Hi, you just deleted Image:Lathraea rhodopaea 1.jpg which was transferred from the Bulgarian Wikipedia. I understand that there is a duplicate of the image, but you didn't point the earlier file, so now we (from the BG:Wiki) don't know where is that image. I noticed that you deleted this as it is a dupe of Image:GEN Pershing October 1918.jpg. I didn't realize that the first image existed until today as it was not properly categorized, otherwise I would have tagged it as the dupe. I'm wondering why as a lower res (375 x 489) file, it wasn't deleted as my upload is a larger res and higher quality version (2048 x 2920) of this image. How do I add a license?

Your bot correctly tagged Image:SacklerLibrary.jpg as an image lacking a license.

By mistake, I uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons without specifying a license - I took the photograph myself, so would like to use the PD-self license.

Unfortunately, when I try to edit the image, my browser tries to download an index.php file instead of letting me edit the page.

Perhaps as well as explaining which license to choose, the automatic message could link to information on *how* to apply a license?

You left a message on my talk page to the effect that there was insufficient evidence that I was the copyright holder. I had used the words "Source=self-made" because that struck me as all that was necessary and because the template provided that wording. I have now revised it to read "Source=I drew this diagram myself using Microsoft's Paint program". Is that sufficient?

I then replaced the "PD-self" license tag that I originally selected and which had been removed (presumably by your bot).

I have uploaded dozens of images to Commons for in the last 2-3 years without any problems. I really don't see the difference between the words "self made" and "I drew this diagram myself using Microsoft's Paint program" ... do you?

Need help with pywikipediabot

I am using the script imagecopy.py that was included with pywikipedia. I enter

Script for en.wikipedia

Hi, right now at en wikipedia we have a huge backlog at w:CAT:COMMONS. I have tried clearing this backlog by hand, but it is impossible. Could you write a bot in python that could clear it by moving the images to the commons using CommonsHelper. I have uploaded an image to English Wikipedia from the Hebrew Wikipedia. Under the Hebrew Wikipedd the licence is GFDL - GNU Free Documentation License.

someone put a warrning under this image that it is going to be deleted within i think 7 days or so, unless more information is provided.

I don't understand what kind of information is needed since i have provided the link which i have taken it from and it's free to copy or else?

i just tried to guess about it and added the - GFDL - in the image - is that what they wanted? the hebrew message of the image says you must put "wikipedia Hebrew" as the creater - which i did - so what else is needed to be done?
