Unhappily I don't speak English, and it is a lot of work for me to be answering (badly writing, I know) in another language. Exactly for this reason I just use Wiki of the Portuguese language (why the control of images not is in Wiki PT?? I dont understand... why the archive have stay here?)

But we're go: I maybe don't know how to fill out what demand (em relationship the images), but a picture (that ignore the author) it is of 1906! (I believe that it doesn't find copyright more than 100 years later. The other is a picture that I did. The image is mine. But if it turns annoying and complicated to collaborate with images, even if is mine (in this case) because requests to research the bureaucracy, and that takes time that nor all have.

(excuse my terrible English...)

Hi Filnik. Your bot is checking too close to upload. User:CommonsDelinker checks 20 minutes after upload to give an uploader some time to make changes to the description page before it is checked. Please make that 25 minutes for Filbot. Cheers! Siebrand 08:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright error[edit]

Sorry, I forgot to put original work of NOAA. I uploaded the image again and added the wright copyright information. Can the old one be deleted or something? Thanks for your help. Herb 14:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Filnik,

According to this website, "the Government Art Collection has a substancial library of images of works in its care, and theses images are available for commercial reproduction or personal use". So, I think this image may be uploaded to Wikipedia. Am I right? This website also says "that reproduction may be limited by copyright". I think that the copyright has expired, because the painter (John Singleton Copley) died in 1815. I will be waiting for your answer.

Keats Island Photo[edit]

Hi; I've received another warning on a photo I have created and added to Wikimedia Commons. What gives, I follow the Upload file option as listed and selected the correct copyright status, self-made, and still it rejects my photo. What am I doing wrong... --HJKeats 12:27, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It’s so frustrating. I have entered a number of photos in the past, taken by me and freely posted to Commons. I didn't get much help from the previous admin who noted my copyright issues and the photos were eventually removed. Is it too much trouble to ask to have the menu apply the correct tags when you upload the file? I have selected self-made when I did it the first time and it should have known that there shouldn't have been a copyright issue. Alternatively, do you know if there is a fool proof method to upload self-made photos and avoid the editing and re-editing to make it conform to the correct copyright status? Signed frustrated... --HJKeats 16:51, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Filnik, according to Dantadd, an admin on wiki.pt, I can upload an image whose author died almost 200 years ago, asking or not permission from the website which shows the image. He also told me to use this kind of license:

{{PD-Art}}

So, I'm going to put it there, ok?. OP4

It is the same, probably it's just because i didn't save it with the same resolution... do i have to upload it again?

Did you read what is written in the link i gave you before? It says this about that picture:

"I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby release it into the public domain. This applies worldwide.

In case this is not legally possible: I grant anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law."

isn't this clear enough?

thanks

I would need some help[edit]

I have received a warning about Image:Lechaeum.svg copyright. I would need some help. I have uploaded other images and I don't know what I've done wrong now. The image is based on Image:Lechaeum.png. As I say on the discussion, I've just vectorized it, so it should have no copyright. As I have vectorized few images, I have a problem with a black box in the image; so I tried to upload new versions (I don't know if that was the problem: forgetting to answer the questions with the new versions)

Thank you

I tried to reload the image chosing the no copyright option, but there was no change in the page. Should I remove the warning message first?

BOT is too fast[edit]

I have been adding images sourced from Geograph. These are all PD images released under a CC sharealike license version that is not available from the upload page. So, rather than muck about, I upload the image and then immediately copy the licensing and Geograph information from another of my images. No more than 5-10 mins work. Yet I get an edit conflict because this (****) bot has tagged it as unlicensed!

Please do as the other editors have requested and delay this bot until us poor users have had a chance to apply a second edit to our images.

Thank you.

About deletion[edit]

Hi, Filnik. I uploaded some images today and received a message about deletion. These images are from the official site of the political party who created them. I know it may be difficult for you to read greek, but you can visit the site and have a look at the bottom and left, where they make clear that all the content of the site is released under the Creative Commons 2.0 license. Your bot doesn't write other languages than English :-)[edit]

Hi,
I've seen that you had set up a bot which is adding message templates on user talk pages when it detects missing licenses or other problems in images. It has a major drawback: you bot only adds the English version of these templates, which make them quite hard to understand when it occurs to be on non-English speaking user... Such users often tend then to go on their preferred language version of the template, and then edit it, thinking this would fix the problem described in the template...
Obviously, it may be quite hard for the bot to guess what is the preferred language of a newbie :) That's why I would like to suggest that your bot either:

I hope that my suggestion is not that complicated to be implemented :)
Best regards from France,
-- AlNo (discuter/talk/hablar/falar) 16:22, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thanks for your reply :)
  1. If you want the warned user to know that it is your bot that added a warning on its talk page, you may just add a short text like This message was added automatically, if you need some help about it, ask its master or go to the Commons:Help desk. (such a message is given by SieBot I think.) This text could also be stored in a specific template, with subpages too to handle other languages than english...
  2. Your bot doesn't warn an alredy warned user: good point! :)
  3. International template: actually you have many message templates, most of them are already translated in many languages. Feel free to help to translate some in Italian of course :) To know which one you may use: see the Commons:Message templates table. Of course, when your bot has choosen the right template (i.e.: {{No license}}), then it should try to guess the user language (i.e. Malagasy (mg)), then find if {{No license/mg}} exists, and add it if so, or add the default (English, you're right) template if not.
  4. It should be asked to developpers or to the toolserver guys if they have any mean to build some tool that can return at least the user settings about their preferred language. It can be assumed that when the user makes some contribution, he has already set this settings ;)
Best regards,
-- AlNo (discuter/talk/hablar/falar) 12:40, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome :)
I've sent a message to the Commons-l mailing list to ask about the ways to get the user preferred language. I'll let you know the answers if you want.

About "Styli used in writing in the Fourteenth Century.png"[edit]

Magdala Landscape.jpg[edit]

Hello Filnik! Bit of a problem with your bot! I'm not too impressed that it sought fit to tag the above image, which I had created and uploaded. The description clearly stated in it that I had created the composite landscape image from some of my old holiday 'expedition' photo's. The image was correctly marked for copyright and also categorised accordingly. There is also a note at the top of my commons talk page to post messages on my En Wiki talk page as I do not access commons too often. Consequently I did not get the message and the image was deleted last night, at which time my watchlist notified me of the images deletion. I have now re-uploaded the image as Image:Magdala Landscape Composite (RLH).jpg. I understand that the deleton was an error due to the constraints of you using a bot, in that it cannot actually read the description information of the image on the page, or the message to post on my en wiki talkpage. Perhaps you may find it better to visually check the image information personally in future, to prevent future errors. If you view my photo gallery you will see that I do not upload images on a whim, but actually for use in articles. :0) Richard Harvey 10:33, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was on wiki germany as u can see. please hit me back asap with the info to remedy this problem and thank your for notifying me. CHEERS :) 4shizzal 22:03, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Notice Half_dome_summit_panorama.jpg[edit]

Your bot gave notice that the image http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Half_dome_summit_panorama.jpg did not specify the author or the license.

But it in fact has Source: self-made and Permission: See below.

Since the default license options to not allow the creative commons license CC-BY-NC-ND then I had to specify this in the comments as "License= CC-BY-NC-ND". That is the license for Attribution, NonCommercial, and NoDerivatives.

Reply[edit]

Ok, I see the problem. This is my first upload to wikimedia and I did not realize all media has to be available for commercial use. I will mark it for speed deletion.

Bot notice re Monuc.pdf[edit]

Ok, I'll bite. What's missing on Image:Monuc.pdf that your bot needs in order to recognize that this is a product of the UN Cartographic section? LeadSongDog 21:25, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing, I get it now. The bot tagged the file before I corrected the license tag usage and didn't revisit it when I made the correction.LeadSongDog 19:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ,

i work at greek wikipedia. I set up the dosbox+game(i own original cds) and i took the screenshot, but there is no greek wiki-commons. In similar images like mine i see the following template: == Licensing == {{Non-free game screenshot}} but it didnt work for me.

What should i do;;

Error?[edit]

Hi, I just added two pictures I took less then 2 hours ago, and they have the same licence info I put on all my pictures. How come these have been listed as not having sufficient information on its copyright status? Greverod 17:43, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Found my mistake, no need to worry. Greverod 17:52, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My image[edit]

Hey, I shooted this picture, so could you license it with PD, or something, so it won't get deleted? Fleccy 15:39, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you do it with this aswell, and then tell me how to do it on my own? Fleccy 16:19, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've got the automaticly generated message message from you. I'm not sure what is wrong with the licence. Could you please explain it to me. Thank you.--Mbz1 16:45, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that your bot responded to page blanking by added the {{No license}} tag.[4] Perhaps it should have restored the page? Walter Siegmund (talk) 19:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I own this image[edit]

I uploaded the image SBF1.jpg to use for an article and the bot warned me that I hadn't stated that I created the image. I put that information in the summary when uploading it like the instructions told me to. I read your memo at the top but since I'm new to the uploading part of wikipedia I was wondering if you could tell me how to prevent this from occuring. Thanks, NukesAGeek

Hi. You replied with "You have to ask the author the license. If there is too restricted it can't be uploaded on commons. Ask him if it could be ok if you put it under

or

or something like that. Cheers!"

I can't ask the author the license BECAUSE I AM THE AUTHOR/CREATOR/UPLOADER/MAKE whatever you want to call it, I created the image and then uploaded it. I don't know the legal names for the license types but I want to make it so it that anyone wishing to use it for an article must ask me permission first. Thanks NukesAGeek

Hi, I have integrated the source, author and type of license for the image above, as you asked me to do. Is it OK? I really could appreciate if you told me if there's still something wrong. Diego Fernández 8:00, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
