You uploaded this image which you claim to be your own work. On the upload page you agreed to place it under a Free license but did not specify which one. Please do so by replacing the OwnWork tag with a suitable copyright tag. ← Körnerbrötchen - @ 09:40, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
PS: Also have a look at Image:Peter-Ustinov-at-a-book-signing-in-Brisbane-2.JPG and Image:Peter-Ustinov-at-a-book-signing-in-Brisbane-3.JPG. It is important to add a license, like GFDL or . Just put one of these tags (or one of another free license) into the description of images.
- thanks for tagging! ← Körnerbrötchen - @ 08:48, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

- I took the photo during a visit to the Soviet Union Pavilion at Expo '88. The information about who created the artwork was not made available to the general public who visited the Soviet Union Pavilion during Expo '88. Therefore, I am not able to supply this information to Wikimedia. Figaro (talk) 12:53, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Figaro, in this case i think, your photo is a derivative work, regrettably without the artists permission you can not give it a free license. Our rules on derivative works often disappoint users, I hope not you. The rule applies on photographs of artwork - sculptures, paintings, posters, ..., in some countries also buildings with a threshold of creativity. Outdoor Photos of recent artwork permanently located there are ok in
mostmany countries, see COM:FOP, photos taken inside buildings are often problematic if some artwork that is not free for any reason (e.g. public domain because the author, painter or sculpturer died 70 years ago) is in focus of the image. --Martin H. (talk) 13:16, 29 April 2009 (UTC)- Thank you for explaining this. As I have now mentioned on the image page, I did not know that this information was essential for the photograph. Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:50, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

- This is for File:Sign-for-Target-Myer-Centre.jpg, which probably isn't your fault, by the way: Someone moved it from English Wikipedia (where it would be safe) to Commons; hopefully it can just go back to English Wikipedia. --Closeapple (talk) 01:37, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
