Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

Bavarian beer glasses[edit]

Sorry, but I can't accept your revert: [1] Schneider Whitebeer is a Bavarian beer (no "NRW-bottle", because NRW = Northrhine Westfalia) and the glass is marked with "Paulaner" ... also a Bavarian beer glass. The same applies to the Paulaner glass here. It is a Bavarian beer glass with advertising print, also the Cat: "Beer glasses in Germany" is entirely correct. If the bottle is not an NRW-bottle, that category should be removed in favour of the more general Category:Beer bottles (brown glass), you can do this yourself I you want. About the glass, the picture was taken in the Netherlands, so Category:Beer glasses in Germany‎ is not correct, it would have been if the category was named Category:German beer glasses. - FakirNL (talk) 11:24, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Flag of the Isle of Man[edit]

I readed the same discussion, when I was looking for appropriate flag. I made a mistake when I marked the right file. The names of files are misleading. I think that this "File:Flag of the Isle of Mann.svg" (Fry version) should be called something different, fe. Modification in the file Can of Dr Foots.jpg[edit]

Hello FakirNL

I apologize for my ambiguity of interpretation for classifying the "Can of Dr Foots.jpg" file in the category of beer cans of the Netherlands which prompted your revocation.

My reasoning was justified by the presence of this object placed in the category Bavaria (beer brand) which belongs to the category of beers of the Netherlands. The categorization among the cans of soft drinks that may indicate that the latter is a non-alcoholic beer (I admit not having looked at the composition of the product) justifying the categorization among beer cans of the Netherlands.

The purpose of a revocation action is to be able to learn from our mistakes in order to improve ourselves from our contributions and to prevent other contributors from making the same mistake.

I suggest, to clarify the description of the file, that it be classified in the category related with the article of the soft drink company Nederlands "3ES". The internet address being indicated on the can, we find the description of the product Dr Foots (dizzyfrinks.com). The link indicated on this site: http://www.3esfrisdranken.nl/plain.html it redirects to the site https://swinkelsfamilybrewers.com who is domiciled in the Netherlands (link) (Living in Montpellier (France), I have to check some location details to avoid errors ). The archiving of the site for the year 2007, indicates the existence of the brand's products (link). The web cache of the link indicates the presence of the product in the Royal Swinkels or Bavaria (beer brand) (link).

Thus, the possible doubt of error will no longer be possible because the product will be categorized among the soft drink cans owned by "3ES" company, of which the latter is part of the beverages from the Netherlands in connection with Bavaria (beer brand).

By combining our talents, do you think that my approach is sufficiently well-argued so that I can modify the categorization of the product to avoid any ambiguity about the product?

3ES was formerly the soft drink brand of Bavaria/Swinckels. Nowadays Dr. Foots is just one of the brands made by the Swinkels Company who make Bavaria beers, other beers, soft drinks and other drinks. Sorry voor deze uploads. Ik ging er van uit dat het in principe onder Commons:De minimis viel omdat elke individuele partijposter maar een klein onderdeel van de foto vormde. Misschien is het verstandig om File:Dutch election posters 2021, Oude Noorden, Rotterdam (2021).jpg ook snel te verwijderen dan. Hoi FakirNL, dank voor je toevoegingen hier en op nl.Wikipedia m.b.t. kunst in Nijmegen en Arnhem! Qua onderwerp mijn interessegebied en dankzij mijn schoonfamilie ook een beetje 'mijn' regio, vandaar dat ik je bewerkingen geregeld langs zie komen. Ik zag dat je in Arnhem een aantal werken door elkaar hebt gehaald en foto's aan de verkeerde omschrijving hebt gekoppeld. Ik denk dat het het handigst is de foto's opnieuw bij de juiste omschrijving te uploaden. Zou jij -als fotograaf & uploader- dat willen doen? Hoi Ronn, dankjewel voor je oplettende werk! Nou ben ik toch wel benieuwd hoe ik dit had kunnen weten. Ik heb meerdere dagen zitten nadenken en ben uiteindelijk uitgegaan van het kaartje van de Beeldende Kunst Arnhem-website. Hoe had ik kunnen weten dat de foto's niet in de goede volgorde op het kaartje stonden? Was er een goede bron die ik over het hoofd heb gezien? - FakirNL (talk) 08:10, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ik kwam het tegen omdat ik de nog niet beschreven beeldhouwers in de lijst afging en in het werk van Teulings ben gedoken. Onder de lijst heb ik een aantal Arnhemse beeldengidsen neergezet, ik heb zelf die van Hans Middel (2011) in de kast staan. De vier reliëfs zijn daarin met foto en beschrijving opgenomen. Middel dateert het werk in 1954, Henk Scheerder deed hetzelfde in zijn monografie over Gijs Jacobs van den Hof (1995). De nieuwe bedrijfsruimte van CAMIZ, waarop de reliëfs zijn aangebracht, werd echter pas geopend in 1957 (bron). Als klopt dat de reliëfs het scheppingsverhaal verbeelden (volgens Middel, Scheerbeek noemt dat niet), dan vind ik de volgorde aan de gevel (Ordening - Zonnekracht - Chaos - Voltooiing) niet logisch. Daarom leek mij de volgorde "Chaos, Ordening, Zonnekracht, Voltooing" an sich, na enige tijd denken niet ondenkbaar. Die van Teulings is vrij chaotisch, die van Diekerhof vrij geordend en in die van Grosman kan je een plant zien die groeit vanwege de zonnekracht. Als jij bekend bent in Beuningen weet je dan misschien waar die staat? Ich habe gestern in der Wikipedia.de einen Artikel über Lotte-Lore Loebenstein geschrieben, für die ein Stolperstein vor dem Haus Molenstraat 66 liegen soll laut Namenlijst voor 'Stolpersteine' (struikelstenen) in Nijmegen. Thanks for short reaction und die Bereitschaft Fotos aufzunehmen. Der Stolperstein in Hannover wird am 25. Mai 2022 gelegt, was ich fotografieren werde. Auf der Namenlijst werden die Löbensteins für die Molenstraat 66 (laut Commons früher Molenstraat 68) genannt. Nach translation habe ich verstanden, dass dass "nur" eine Namenlijst der Verfolgten in Nijmegen ist, keine Liste von Stolpersteinen. In einer deutschen Zeitung habe ich gelesen, das in Nijmegen ein Stolperstein für Lotte-Lore Loebenstein liegt. Heute erinnert lediglich ihr Name auf dem Shoah-Mahnmal am Opernplatz und ein Stolperstein in Nijmegen an sie. Das ist wohl falsch.
