You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. @Jeff G.: The fact that the uploader has licensed another file under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 is no evidence that he/she has agreed to license this one, too. The uploader him-/herself needs to add the license tag. ––Apalsola ^{t • c} 10:39, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@EtelaPuolanka: First, if you want to you can fix the problem by simply adding a license template (e.g. {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}) to the file, and the file does not need to be deleted. The deletion request is not personal in any way; every file in Commons just needs to be properly licensed because Commons wants to respect rights of the photographers (i.e. you in this case). See Commons:Licensing (or Commons:Tiedostojen käyttösäännöt in Finnish) for more information.

You cannot delete the file yourself but if you choose not to add the license template, an administrator will delete the file pretty soon. Best regards, ––Apalsola ^{t • c} 12:24, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hei ja tervetuloa Wikimedia Commonsiin! Hienoa, kun lisäsit lisenssin kuvaasi, varsinkin kun se on hyvä kuva. Harvoin saadaan kuvia Pudasjärveltä (tai Puolangaltakaan ;)). Voisin myös kertoa jo tässä vaiheessa, että syyskuussa Wikimedia Suomi järjestää Wiki Loves Monuments -kilpailua, jos kiinnostaa. Sen lisäksi suomenkielisessä Wikipediassa järjestetään fotosafareja silloin kun on mahdollista. En ole ihan varma, mikä on fotosafarien tilanne pohjoisempana, mutta Kulttuurinavigaattori voi varmaan kertoa niistä ja siihen liittyvästä patsasprojektista enemmän. -Yupik (talk) 07:26, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Moi, ns. Wikipedian patsasluetteloon näyttää olevan puuttuvia kuvia Puolangalta neljä ja Pudasjärveltä viisi. Vain Isa Aspin patsas on Pudasjärven keskustassa kuitenkin, muut kauempana. Ne ovata kaikki nuorempia kuin 70v, joten kuvat pitää tallentaa Wikipedian. Eli pikaohje, tallenna ymmärrettävällä tiedostonimellä koneellesi, valitse tiedosto Wikipedian vasemmasta reunasta kohdasta Työkalut > "Tallenna tiedosto" ja laita kuvan kuvaus ym tiedot esimerkiksi tämän mallin mukaan. Ja sitten vaan tallennettu kuva luetteloon. Ota vaikka minuun yhteyttä jos epäselvää. Olis hienoa jos Puolanka ja Pudasjärvi saataisiin valmiiksi. t. --Kulttuurinavigaattori (talk) 14:26, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tässäpä muutamia ehdotuksia:

Pudasjärven hirsikoulusta olit näköjään yhden kuvan jo tallentanutkin, mutta lisääkin mahtuu, esim. eri kuvakulmista ja vähän kauempaa otettuja.
Pudasjärven kirkosta (ei toki sijaitse ihan keskustassa) on vain pari kuvaa, ja niistäkin toinen on hyvin pieniresoluutioinen, joten siitäkin voisi tallentaa lisääkin kuvia.
Merkittävät (julkiset) rakennuksista, kuten kaupungintalo, kirjastot, koulut, kirkot, seurakuntakeskukset, kaupat, kauppakeskukset jne. ovat aina hyviä kohteita.
Julkiset veistokset, muistomerkit ja taideteokset ovat hyviä kohteita, kunhan ottaa huomioon tekijänoikeudet.
Myös luontokohteet ovat hyviä. Esimerkiksi Iijoki voisi nyt keväällä olla hyvä kohde, kun vesi on ylhäällä.
Pudasjärven lentokenttä ja Jyrkkäkosken alue. (Eivät toki ole aivan keskustassa ole nämäkään.)

Toisaalta kannattaa kuvata sellaisia kohteita, jotka itseä kiinnostavat (tietyin rajoituksin toki, ks. Commons:Projektin ala/Yhteenveto), eikä kuunnella liikaa muita. :-) Jos kaikki noudattavat tätä periaatetta, saadaan Commonsiin monipuolisesti kuvia eri elämänalueilta. ––Apalsola ^{t • c} 23:41, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
