Image deletion warning Image:Colours.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

categories[edit]

hi erik,

i am currently cleaning up some arachnid categories, and you reverted my edit. here's the way it's done right now: spiders of known species go into gallery pages, in the case of the two pictures Araneus diadematus. if the species is not known, it goes to eg. Unknown Araneidae. if we tag all spider pictures with Category:Araneae, this will clog up the category and make it useless. so, i'll delete the category again. if you have any questions about categories, just leave me a note :) --Sarefo 19:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then you should add the images to the correct category, and not just remove them from the one about spiders they were in. I count on you to do so, because I don't know enough about spiders to be able to pick the right category. - Erik Baas 22:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
hi erik,
no, not every picture needs to be in a cat. what's important is that they are found. to ensure this, it has proved to be easier to put them in gallery pages, and put these into cats, as is done for Araneus diadematus. To tell you the truth, i'm sick of this species, because everybody is taking pictures of it, and throwing them into the big garbage heap that would be Category:Spider, Category:Spiders and Category:Araneae, if i would not periodically take some hours to clean it up. so, please do me the favor, don't revert my edits, if you still have questions leave me a note, this can save both of us some work. if you still don't feel secure with categorizing, and have pictures of animals in the future, go ahead and add them to a broad category like Category:Araneae, that's ok, but then you'll have to trust me that i'll sort them into the right place. cheers :) --Sarefo 00:28, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Most people use categories to search for specific images, so I think they should be in at least one category (about spiders, that is). I repeat myself: "you should add the images to the correct category", but instead all you did (again) was removing them. I will create a new cat like "Bad pictures of uninteresting spiders" if I have to.
P.S.: I will ignore your rather insulting words "sick" and "garbage", as well as your emoticon. - Erik Baas 23:32, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
