File:Brechweinstein.jpg[edit]

Hi, Could you please reconsider your decision at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Brechweinstein.jpg? It seems clear that the consensus is not to keep but it is to delete the version of 16:42, 9 January 2010 (the version with the coin). Thanks. -- Asclepias (talk) 16:47, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's a perfectly reasonable interpretation. I have now deleted the older revision, keeping the newer ones. Ed (Edgar181) 20:59, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

re: Disputed chemistry diagrams[edit]

Hi :-) I asked Rupert Sciamenna to make those diagrams, because I need them for this. As you can see, these groups represent the "R" group for the arsenosugars, so their structure is right. And since the "O" is red, I think there is no possibility of real misunderstandings. --Superchilum(talk to me!) 06:54, 7 June 2012 (UTC) p.s.: please, answer me on my it.wiki talk[reply]

OK, I understand now that in the context that they are being used, they are intended to be partial chemical structures. I will remove the disputed tag from them. Ed (Edgar181) 11:31, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
thank for your interest (no confusions, indeed) ;-) bye. --Superchilum(talk to me!) 12:15, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Polysorbates[edit]

Hi, in your diagrams File:Polysorbate 40.png, File:Polysorbate 60.png, File:Polysorbate_65.svg and File:Polysorbate 80.png the stereochemical information of the 5-membered ring is missing. By the way: could you perhaps also modify File:Polysorbate 20.png to look like the others (orientation, quality)? Thanks a lot --Mabschaaf (talk) 09:30, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From what I can tell, the stereochemistry of polysorbates is mixed and/or unspecified so it is not necessary to try to specify it in these images. As for File:Polysorbate 20.png, it appears to be similar in orientation as most of the others. Ed (Edgar181) 12:11, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I mixed something up a little bit. In deWP File:Polysorbat20.png is used which of course is not drawn by you, but shows the stereochemical information. I am not quite sure if you are right with your assumption that mixed isomers are present. At least the name of the compounds refer to en:Sorbitol. This should be clarified.--Mabschaaf (talk) 16:03, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it looks like I should take a closer look. When I have the chance, I'll see what I can find in the scientific literature related to the stereochemistry of polysorbates. Thanks for letting me know about the potential problem. Ed (Edgar181) 18:46, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Polysorbates are derived from / a derivate of en: Sorbitol with its stereochemistry. --Roland.chem (talk) 18:35, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So far I am unable to find any reference in the scientific literature that unambiguously assigns the stereochemistry in polysorbates. If I'm looking at it correctly, the dehydration reaction of sorbitol to form w:en:sorbitan (the five-membered ring system that is the core of polysorbates) could go from either end of the sorbitol molecule; and since sorbitol is not symmetrical, the results will be products with differing stereochemistry. Chemical Abstracts lists sorbitan (CAS# 12441-09-7) as an "Incompletely Defined Substance". And Merck Index does not specify the stereochemistry of polysorbates. In category:polysorbates there are three images that show stereochemistry, but at only 3 of the 4 four stereocenters. I'm curious to know on what basis those three stereocenters were assigned. If polysorbates are in fact single stereoisomers, I'd like to find something that confirms the stereochemistry at all 4 stereocenters. Ed (Edgar181) 20:24, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for your efforts. Maybe you are able to understand enough from this, at least the reaction scheme, which could be an explanation for the isomerization. I also asked our German stereochemistry expert, de:User:Jü, to comment on this question.--Mabschaaf (talk) 12:16, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ed. After you updated three of your chemical structures uploads recently, it seems that there are only a few more left: File:Cycloguanil.png, File:NDMA.png, File:Lycorine.png, File:Tetracosane structure.png, File:Sulfadoxine.png, File:Nadifloxacin.png, File:Octafluoropropane.png, File:Naphthoquinone.png, File:KHSO5.png, File:Tuaminoheptane.png, File:Magnesium carbonate.png. Do you like to update them, too, and remove the tag? --Leyo 09:26, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the slow reply. I will update them to SVGs when I return from traveling. Ed (Edgar181) 18:11, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is certainly no hurry. You might also just update them with high resolution PNGs. --Leyo 07:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think they are updated now either with SVGs or with higher resolution PNGs. Ed (Edgar181) 14:59, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Did you skip File:Nadifloxacin.png, File:KHSO5.png and File:Tuaminoheptane.png on purpose? For the last one, I removed the template. --Leyo 17:03, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I skipped Nadifloxacin because it was unused. I skipped KHSO5 and Tuaminoheptane because they were already fairly high resolution (>1000px width). I didn't catch that the last one still had the template. Ed (Edgar181) 17:08, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it still worth updating even if a structure is not currently used in a Wikimedia project. KHSO5 looks quite pixelated to me. --Leyo 17:22, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Ed (Edgar181) 17:32, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks and sorry for bugging you. --Leyo 20:21, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I uploaded quite a few structures back when image quality standards were different, so there will be plenty more for me to do. Ed (Edgar181) 12:11, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:53320 4473165743113 222052559 o.jpg[edit]

Hello, can you delete File:53320 4473165743113 222052559 o.jpg? i forget rename its name :( --Cemallamec (talk) 18:49, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. ✓ Done. Ed (Edgar181) 18:50, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now, I wanna upload again (with renamed) but it says: "There was another file already on the site with the same content, but it was deleted." What can I do? --Cemallamec (talk) 18:53, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There should be an option to ignore the warning and/or continue uploading. It shouldn't actually prevent you from uploading the image. Ed (Edgar181) 18:55, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you have a moment, could you do me a favor. I decided to occupy my time to list the no-FoP files in Italy. It has been a long and difficult work that needs to be reviewed by administrators. Please, could you check if everything is correct on User:Raoli/Deletion requests/FoP Italy? Thanks! Raoli ✉ (talk) 00:24, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I don't know much about Italian copyright law, so this would probably be better handled by someone else who knows more than me. Ed (Edgar181) 12:47, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I've added a request in the Administrators' noticeboard. --Raoli ✉ (talk) 16:31, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
