Fehlermeldung[edit]

Liebe ETH-Bibliothek; wenn ich auf File:ETH-BIB-Rolf Ritschard, Regierungsrat-Com LC1501-00R-009-001.tif den Link https://doi.org/10.3932/ethz-a-001098663 anklicke, komme ich nicht zur Quelle im Bildarchiv, sondern auf eine Login-Seite mit der Fehlermeldung "Interner Fehler: /catalog/ETHBIB.Bildarchiv/r/1222468". Es geht auch bei mir immer noch nicht, nur der Fehler hat sich geändert: Jetzt kommt "HTTP Status 500 – Internal Server Error", "An exception occurred processing JSP page [/app/awp.jspx] at line [77]" und danach ein langer Report... @Gestumblindi and Hadi: Wir hatten letzte Woche gröbere Probleme mit dem Webfrontend, sollte jetzt stabiler laufen. Der DOI kann auch wieder normal aufgerufen werden. ^FH ETH-Bibliothek (talk) 11:31, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We are not using the GLAMWiki Toolset anymore, instead we are uploading our images with Pattypan. Hallo zusammen; laut E-Pics gibt es in eurer Sammlung drei Fotos der Schriftstellerin Alja Rachmanowa unter CC BY-SA 4.0, z.B. dieses, die aber bis jetzt nicht online sind. Ich habe noch eine Frage dazu. Habt ihr eventuell Informationen dazu, wer der Mann auf File:ETH-BIB-Alja Rachmanowa-Hoyer, russische Schriftstellerin in Ettenhausen-Com X-R003-014.tif ist? Walter Mittelholzer MH01 / MH02 / MH05?[edit]

Zunächst möchte ich meine Begeisterung über die wunderbaren Luftbilder von Walter Mittelholzer ausdrücken, sie sind eine wahre Fundgrube und bilden, was die Alpen betrifft, auch auf beeindruckende Weise den Gletscherrückgang der letzten 100 Jahre ab.

Seit einiger Zeit ergänze ich bei die Alpen betreffenden Luftbildern mehr oder weniger systematisch Kategorien und Beschreibungen. Dazu eine Verständnisfrage: Alle (?) Photos auf Category:ETH-BIB Mittelholzer-Inland flights - Austria tragen die Kennung "MH01". Nun gibt es aber (z.B. in Category:Aerial photographs of the Alps in Austria) weitere Luftbilder mit der Kennung "MH02" und "MH05". Bevor ich alles durcheinanderbringe: Gibt es da ein nachvollziehbares System dahinter? Sollten die Bilder in unterschiedliche Kategorien untergebracht werden? Mit der Jahreszahl scheint es nicht zusammenzuhängen. Falls diese Kennungen inhaltlich eigentlich egal sind, würde ich alle diese Photos einheitlich mit Category:ETH-BIB Mittelholzer-Inland flights - Austria versehen.

Übrigens gab (gibt?) es in Category:Aerial photographs by Walter Mittelholzer irreführenderweise auch einige terrestrische Photos (z.B. von einer Großglockner-Besteigung), einige davon habe ich bereits in die neue Category:Glockner Group by Walter Mittelholzer ausgelagert, die eine Unterkategorie von Category:Black and white photographs by Walter Mittelholzer bildet.   • Die Kategorien stammen nicht von uns, das machen die Wikipedianer_innen.
Die Kennung MH01 ist von uns und Teil des Bildcodes/Signatur, der ist wie folgt aufgebaut:
  • LBS = Luftbild Schweiz (der Nachlassgeber)
  • MH steht für Mittelholzer
  • 01: Inlandsflüge, Luftbilder, 13 x 18 cm
  • 02: Auslandsflüge, Luft- und Bodenbilder, alle Formate
  • 03: Industriebilder, Luftbilder, 13 x 18 cm
  • 04: Alben mit den Abzügen (nicht digitalisiert)
  • 05: Inlandsflüge auf Kleinbildfilm

Jetzt ist mir aber ein bisschen unklar, warum z.B. die Flüge über Österreich unter "Inland Flights" laufen, oder ist es technisch gesehen ein Inlandsflug, wenn jemand in der Schweiz abhebt, eine Schleife über Österreich fliegt und wieder in der Schweiz landet?
Wäre es also richtig, auch die Österreich betreffenden MH05-Photos als Category:ETH-BIB Mittelholzer-Inland flights - Austria zu kategorisieren?
Und ist es richtig, dass die Bodenbilder (MH02) nicht automatisch als Category:Aerial photographs by Walter Mittelholzer kategorisiert werden sollen, sondern in eine andere im "Baum" Category:Black and white photographs by Walter Mittelholzer?
Insgesamt besteht glaub ich bei den MH-Photos noch ganz schön viel Kategorisierungsbedarf, oder? Gerne beteilige ich mich natürlich, aber es sollte wohl ein akkordiertes Vorgehen geben.

Ich hoffe, ich trete jetzt niemandem zu nahe, aber ich denke, wir Wikifanten sollten die Bilder nach unserer bewährten Systematik verschlagworten ("kategorisieren"). Die Hinweise der ETH-Bibliothek sind sehr nützlich, und wir sollten daran auch nichts ändern, aber unsere Commons-Kategorien sollten wir im Zweifel eigenverantwortlich vergeben.
Wie die Kennzeichnung mancher Kategorien als "Non-topical/index" zustandekommt, verstehe ich nicht. Ich weiß auch nicht, wo ich da nachschauen könnte! Von solchen undurchsichtigen Konstruktionen halte ich grundsätzlich wenig, weil ich Transparenz für eine wesentliche Voraussetzung des Erfolges unserer Wikimedia-Projekte halte, und ich schätze, je weniger Transparenz, desto mehr Leute werden vom Mitmachen abgehalten.

Müller: , @Nicole Graf: Klar ist WikiCommons nicht an die ETH-Kategorisierung gebunden, ich möchte nur unnötigen Informationsverlust vermeiden, bevor ich Bilder unterschiedlicher ETH-Kategorien in einen gemeinsamen Commons-Topf schmeiße. Aus Franks Andeutungen lese ich heraus, dass die MH-Kategorisierung auf Commons quasi "historisch gewachsen" ist und bisher nicht sehr systematisch gemacht wurde. Welche "Wikifanten" haben denn hier aller mitgewirkt und sollten beim "akkordierten Vorgehen" und Verbessern der Transparenz ins Boot geholt werden? Was ist übrigens mit "Non-topical/index" gemeint? In Category:Black and white photographs by Walter Mittelholzer erscheint bei mir als versteckte Kategorie: "Non-topical/index: 1910 photographs". und in Category:ETH-BIB Mittelholzer-Inland flights sehe ich "Non-topical/index: Hidden categories|Media contributed by the ETH-Bibliothek"
Wie gesagt: Verstehen tue ich es nicht!

@Lotje Tut uns leid für die späte Rückmeldung. Der Alpenbotanik-Kurs fand in Davos statt. Wer der Mann auf dem Bild ist, wissen wir jedoch nicht. Your opinion about OpenRefine and its Wikimedia Commons features: two (!) surveys[edit]

Hi! You have recently tried/used Wikimedia Commons features in OpenRefine (uploading files, or editing existing files). I'm curious to hear how this has gone, also if you only briefly tried these features.

To help the OpenRefine team with future improvements, it would be immensely helpful if you would be willing to spend a bit of time filling in two surveys. (Yes, two! Each of them uses a different method and (open source) platform). Both will run until approximately end October 2023.

  1. A first, classical, survey (fully anonymous) where you can tell us how you use the Commons features in OpenRefine, and how you (want to) learn to use them better;
  2. A second, more experimental survey (also fully anonymous) in which you prioritize the features that matter most to you. This second survey is a bit strange in that you can 'just keep clicking'. Feel free to use it as long or as briefly as you want; you can stop any time. Please also add your own suggestions!

Wie es die Lizenz erlaubt, habe ich nun versuchsweise aus einer Fotografie von Werner Friedli (File:ETH-BIB-Grosser Aletschgletscher Konkordiaplatz, Blick NE Finsteraarhorn-LBS H1-010003.tif) für die Bebilderung eines Wikipedia-Artikels ein Detail herauskopiert, bearbeitet und als neue Datei (File:Chamm von Westen, dahinter Fiescher Gabelhorn.jpg) auf Commons gestellt, natürlich mit einer Quellenangabe und der identischen Lizenz. Bevor ich das in anderen Fällen auch mache, bitte ich um eine Auskunft, wie die Quellen- und Lizenzinformationen beim neuen Bild noch besser darzustellen sind. Hallo @Arkelin. Wenn es nur darum geht, einen Ausschnitt zu erstellen, empfehle ich die Verwendung des Crop Tools. So werden alle Metadaten übernommen und die Dateien auch miteinander verknüpft. Bei der neuen Datei gibt es dann den Zusatz (cropped). Auch die Kategorien werden übernommen, daher müssen diese noch genau geprüft und ggf. gelöscht werden (Bsp. wenn Berge nicht mehr zu sehen sind). Die Kategorie Category:Media contributed by the ETH-Bibliothek kann übernommen werden. ^^FH ETH-Bibliothek (talk) 15:53, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
