File renaming template[edit]
The renaming template is: {{rename|new name|number of renaming Criterion|verbal explanation|user=DocWatson42}}, for example {{rename|A vendor demostrates Serpeant at the Modern Day Marine Expo.jpg|2|more scientific name|user=DocWatson42}}.
Number of Criterion you can find on the Commons:File_renaming site. When you are an uploader, the best is Criterion #1, uploaders have special favours ;-)
Good luck! Wieralee (talk) 08:21, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- Wieralee: Thank you. It's been a while since I've place a rename request, and the template instructions have changed. —DocWatson42 (talk) 15:37, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
Questions about images[edit]
Greetings and felicitations. I basically unfamiliar with Wikimedia Commons, being mostly an editor on English Wikipedia. My family has an ice cream tub from Newport Creamery; I would like to have my sister-in-law take a photograph of it as an example of the company's products (the tubs are fairly iconic locally, and a very recognizable symbol of the company), for me to upload to Commons. I would give her full credit. Is this possible without breaking the law, and what steps would I need to take? —DocWatson42 (talk) 22:30, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- It would be less complicated for her to upload instead; see also COM:DW and COM:UA. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 03:11, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Jeff G.: She's not an Wiki project editor, so I'm trying avoid having her have to register—to make it as simple for her as possible. I can jump through a few hops if necessary. —DocWatson42 (talk) 05:10, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Can you have her post permission on her website or social media, or email permission via OTRS? — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 19:59, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Jeff G.: Sure—the former would be easy enough. Are there any other issues to consider? —DocWatson42 (talk) 21:27, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Is it a tub that can cool things or help with bathing, or just a product container? — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 22:52, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- A product container. Here's one from an eBay auction. DocWatson42 (talk) 01:17, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
