Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Wikimedia Commons has a specific scope

Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. The expression “educational” is to be understood according to its broad meaning of “providing knowledge; instructional or informative”. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. Otherwise, consider an alternative outlet. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Very simple - you have no contributions (to Foundation projects globally) other than to your user page here which had two external links on. Commons is a place for freely licensed images not a social networking site. As such your user page was definitely outside our scope. A number of such pages are deleted daily by various admins. The information above explains about the project scope. I am sorry you do not consider it adequate however it has been used for some years now perfectly well. I think one of the issues is that so many people are used to social networking projects and Foundation projects are not the same as that.

As to the links to my blog - I had nothing whatsoever of that nature until I had contributed quite a large number of images to this project (you can easily check that if you look at the history of my user page). The only reason I have the link now is that the EXIF in my images does not agree with my username - it is simply a way of confirming that I can freely license the images and that I am the copyright holder. I could validly put a link on every image however that is not something I would find acceptable.

"Rules" are not the best way to approach collaborative projects that are here to create added value for the educational websites that are part of the Foundations vision.

It may be worth pointing out that your English ability is considerably beyond en-1.

I am more than happy to apologise if you feel offended by my behaviour. However many many people simply add links and nothing else which is not the object of this or other Foundation projects. Thanks --Herby ^{talk thyme} 14:24, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi DoSia, I would like to welcome you and thank you for your contributions. I hope you will accept my apology for the deletion of your user page based on assumptions learned from the frequent observed unfortunate behaviour of spammers. One of the most helpful essays on Commons is Staying mellow, being one of the few truly international projects means that there are often problems with folks understanding each other as even when we share the same language, our cultural references can vary wildly. This diversity is the greatest strength of our community too. I am not an administrator, but I contribute quite a bit to the project.
