VI nomination[edit]

Des Callaghan; I reverted your last edit.[1] Please review the links I cite in my edit summary. If you change the scope once an image has been supported or opposed, the process has to be restarted. The scope is used in the Commons:Valued image candidates/Most valued review and is used as the caption in VI galleries, e.g., Commons:Valued images by topic/Life forms/Plants/Seed plants (Spermatophyta)/Flowering plants (Magnoliophyta). Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 16:30, 12 September 2014 (UTC) Thankyou Walter. I misunderstood the 'habitus' comment. I now understand that it refers to 'general appearance' and wasn't a request to me for habitat information. Best regards, Des[reply]

My pleasure. I'm pleased to be able to help. Good luck. --Walter Siegmund (talk) 20:48, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Over-categorization[edit]

Saw your question to Jebulon. You are correct that your image will not appear directly in the more general categories, and the reasons is that they are not supposed to, because otherwise these categories will become overpopulated making it almost impossible to find anything.

Still, if you are standing in a higher level category, there is a very good tool FastCCI, which helps traverse the category and sub-categories for FPs, VIs and QIs and present those. You should try it out, it works by category intersection. That said it would still be nice to have better ways in the mediawiki software for presenting images using different kinds of views. For instance, it would be nice if a "flat view" of all images in a category and its subcategories could be made, if you were willing to browse through all there is. There are some technical difficulties though, as categories often contain circular references, which makes traversing the category structure an endless process.

Hope that helps, -- Slaunger (talk) 10:22, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Slaunger Thankyou for the reply, which is very kind. -- Des Callaghan (talk) 06:25, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bryum capillare leaf cells.jpg[edit]

Hi, what kind of microscope and/or camera was used to take this excellent shot? I'm interested to invest in something like it. Much appreciated, thank you.. Tjt263 (talk) 05:15, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting use of image - Splachnum_ampullaceum.jpg[edit]

Hi,

I'm working on a book about pollination ecology. One of the chapters makes a meaningful diversion to talk about insects carrying splachnum moss spores.

Would it be all right to feature your image in the book?

Thanks very much.
