@Secondarywaltz: : This picture has been taken more than 55 years ago in Iran, both persons were politician! and this is their Public figure ( Hassan Ali Mansur passed away on 1965), any reason for deletion ?! DejaVu (talk) 00:47, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Don't tell me on you talk page. The relevant information should have been included when you uploaded the picture. The information there is currently wrong with links leading to strange websites. Please correct and update the source, permission and license as requested. Secondarywaltz (talk) 04:59, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Descriptions

Hi, Descriptions should be added in the file main page, like this, not in the talk page. But you need a permission to upload such pictures. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:35, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Pay attention to copyright
File:Peyton Rous nobel.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

These are not duplicates of File:Ada S. Flatman, c. 1917.jpg, or, at least, not as in the speed deletion policy. Per Commons:File types "On Wikipedia, PNG thumbnails are not sharpened, but JPEG thumbnails are. For more complicated images, such as photographs, engravings, and such, PNG displays an inferior thumbnail. However, the major problem with JPEG is that, as a lossy file format, it cannot be repeatedly edited, even at the best quality settings. As such, even where the PNG thumbnail is inferior, it’s recommended to upload a PNG as well" - It's just best practice, and absolutely normal.

As for File:Ada S. Flatman, c. 1917 - Original.tif, this is the original, unedited copy, which is kept for documentation reasons. It has {{Original}} at the top, which explains, in detail, why it should be kept, and that any alterations should be uploaded as a new copy.

Basically, the JPEG restoration is for most uses. The PNG version is the archive copy as a lossless file, and the TIFF is the original image before restoration, which allows comparison. All three should be kept on Commons, as per very long-standing practice. Adam Cuerden (talk) 02:54, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

@Adam Cuerden: Thank you so much for explanation, please accept my apology regarding misunderstanding of that policy.Déjà vu 03:07, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Adding copyright violation tag

Hi, DejaVu. I can see that you have marked an image uploaded by me from Bollywood Hungama as a copyright violation. I'm pretty sure that this image was taken by Bollywood Hungama and I think thats ok with commons. So can you please explain me more about adding copyright violation tag in this file? Thank you for your time.মোহাম্মাদ ইসমাইল (talk) 00:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Marking images with copyright tag

Hi, DejaVu!

I had to upload 3 photos so I could use them on Czech Wikipedia for making a site about one Czech singer, writer, etc - Mr Vašák. but I got all 3 photos tagged with 3 copyright marks from you and now the photos are apparently facing deletion. The thing is that they are on a few websites, facebook. But he personally sent them to me and he is the license owner... How should I tag them/ what should I do so I could use them? They are both public and I also have his approval because I was asked to do his page. So, if something is wrong with the current status can you please tell me what to change? Thank you, Tosseeh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tosseeh (talk • contribs) 19:21, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

Dear @Tosseeh: Thanks for asking. Regarding your concern, by default you can not upload most pictures published in internet or someone else work! it means you should use the file which never having occurred or existed before. In some cases, you can provide evidence that the copyright holder has given permission to publish a file under a free license. for more information please visit Commons:OTRS. The procedure that needs to be followed is explained there. regards Déjà vu 23:25, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

My image of Zion Lights

Hello @DejaVu: ,

I'm a little puzzled as to why you've marked my image of Zion Lights for deletion as a copyright violation. It's my own image, shot at the News Impact Summit event she spoke at, and first published on my own site here. You can see another image from the same set on that page.

I am the legal rights holder, have the originally shot RAW file to prove it. I'm not sure how a screen shot of my image from Zion's own site proves anything? Adders (talk) 18:07, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

If you wish to continue disputing my ownership of my image, please convert the request to a standard deletion request, as per the standard process for disputed deletions. Otherwise, I'd be grateful if you'd just withdraw the nomination completely. Adders (talk) 18:44, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. -- ~riley (talk) 23:34, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi DejaVu,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

Hi you have tagged this File:Summer Strallen Profile Pic 2019.jpg with Commons:CSD#F10 could you explain your rational in doing so? Thank you - FitIndia Talk Mail 19:33, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

@Fitindia: Hi, my main reason for nomination was uploading picture of actress by non-contributor who have no constructive global contributions but it seems that I made mistake and the picture is in used and not eligible for SD so I will keep it in my mind for any further acts. regards Déjà vu 20:13, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
The better bet would have been Copyright violation. The image does not look like own work as mentioned by the up-loader and can be found elsewhere on the web. If you need any help or have any doubts please feel free to contact me on my talk page. Thank you for your contribution to commons. - FitIndia Talk Mail 20:20, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
@Fitindia: Exactly, I check after my above message and find that picture has been used in many websites before, so I should tag it Copyright violation, instead of Commons:CSD#F10. any way thank you so much for inform me and your help. warm regards Déjà vu 20:33, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi DejaVu, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

If you use the helper gadget, you will find the links next to the search box (vector) or as single tabs (monobook). They are named license+ and license-.

Hi DejaVu, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review and files from other sources. You can enable the LicenseReview gadget from Preferences.

Important: You should not review your own uploads, nor those of anyone closely related to you!

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.freenode.net. You can also add {{User license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! --Roy17 (talk) 19:35, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Logo of the People's Mujahedin of Iran.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Logo of the People's Mujahedin of Iran.png]]) and the above demanded information in your request.
