AzaadiSAT images

Why did you upload the SKI-sourced images in Category:Space Kidz India Satellites? You attributed permission for most of them to this Twitter post, but not only does that post give permission for only a single image, but no license was ever specified meaning the permission is invalid for Commons. Huntster (t @ c) 16:31, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

@Huntster, i am extremely sorry for that (1 more blunder). But dont worry i have mailed them at email id provided at https://www.spacekidzindia.in/ . i will confirm by one month and if they didnt granted me permission. them i, myself will delete them. i did a mistake in my twitter post for just one image. (But they themselves tag many content creators on youtube and since they granted access, i will recieve a positive response, just takes some time) Chinakpradhan (talk) 03:09, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
is there a bot to help in uploading. i will become mad, if i upload all these files myself from nisar images. @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 12:16, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Not that I'm aware of, but I have nothing to do with bots. Don't worry about it, I'll get them uploaded when I have some time. Huntster (t @ c) 14:35, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
@Huntster, i am just thinking who is right??? first jpl is saying that isro is the owner of the image. isro says nothing. But the matter is US Consulate took the image. i am puzzled Chinakpradhan (talk) 04:07, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
1) Where is it said that the U.S. Consulate took the image, and 2) where in that Twitter post are any of the images at this page? I'm unsure what you're referring to. Huntster (t @ c) 06:45, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
this TOI space news reporter says US Consulate @Huntster. I was thinking due to nearly same frame in both images. Anyway I think we can use us consulate Chennai images, if i found they are surely their images by US-Gov pd lisence!! I slam searching for their ownership Chinakpradhan (talk) 08:14, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
My concern is that they may be making the same assumption that you made, that because the Consulate published it that means they took the photograph. Further complicating things is https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/science/isro-receives-indo-us-jointly-developed-nisar-satellite/articleshow/98504860.cms, which credits the Indo-Asian News Service. While I agree that it is likely the Consulate is responsible for the two images they posted, without a firm statement from and in the face of contradictory statements it's too much of an assumption for my taste. Huntster (t @ c) 14:26, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Ok Chinakpradhan (talk) 17:22, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

lead image

Should this image be kept in the lead of Ingenuity helicopter pages or File:Mars helicopter on sol 46.png ii s sufficient?? @Huntster (for lisence don't worry he allowed me to use the images on wiki). This issue is similar to the issue I raised on the ISS lead pics after crew 2 fly around phase with the same motive of display the current state of the object in discussion. Chinakpradhan (talk) 04:08, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Absolutely not! That image is inferior in every way to the existing one. It's been AI upsized in a terrible way from a tiny image, leaving grave artefacting and fuzziness. I have to worry about licenses, and I see no evidence of a valid license. You cannot simply claim that he gave permission, there must be proof of such. Huntster (t @ c) 04:15, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
his twitter bio says, "mars images from NASA/JPL-Caltech unless stated otherwise". and here's the proof of a more inferior quality of same image with nasa lisence. and to be more exact, the raw image is this one. so he AI upsized it. actual owner of image is NASA/JPL-Caltech. @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 05:09, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
Yes, I'm quite aware of the original image. And while NASA provides the original image there are questions about how licensing applies to such modified images, so that's why attribution and declared licensing is so important. Regardless, such poor-quality upscaled images are pointless when a higher-quality image such as File:Mars helicopter on sol 46.png is available. An image isn't better simply because it has more pixels. Huntster (t @ c) 05:55, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
ok so leave then. File:Mars helicopter on sol 46.png keeps its superiority Chinakpradhan (talk) 08:09, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Pay attention to licensing
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.

File:SpaceX Crew-4 training 23.jpg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file.

If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

Help for sports kits

@Huntster someone asked me to upload the rainbow kit for en:Delhi Capitals. Ok made it at File:Kit body dc23 indiauniquediversity.png, but you can see the file history i am struggling to correctly size the image for its location. Can you fix this problem Chinakpradhan (talk) 08:35, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Alternatively if you have the skills please remake the image and upload it there or freshly. But design must be fixed@Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 08:37, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
kit design @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 08:38, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Check what I uploaded and see if it'll work for you. Just a quick modification. Tried to match dimensions and layout that other jerseys use. Huntster (t @ c) 16:39, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Ya but I just want to say, if you go back to see the original kit design i showed, the central rainbow is ending below the underarms level and the white line from collar is coming down to just above underarms level as i tried here can you do it????? @Huntster if impossible or hard i have no problem. Chinakpradhan (talk) 17:29, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Btw you just did the size settings i needed Chinakpradhan (talk) 17:29, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Yes, I was more concerned with maximizing the amount of design in the pixel space available (38x59) while matching the general layout used by the other uniform graphics. I would not be able to exactly replicate the design used by the real uniform without deviating from the standard blueprint too much. Huntster (t @ c) 17:36, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
No problem it's ok thanks a lot for what you did. Chinakpradhan (talk) 18:32, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Btw can you tell your software so that I can use it in future@Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 18:32, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
I used Adobe Photoshop for this (I only have it because my job provides it for free). I also have Corel PaintShop Pro, and it's a fantastic option. Huntster (t @ c) 04:36, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa

@Huntster can you translate and upload text in an image or pdf?? Today only.... Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:00, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

message in a bottle campaign has started and there we get boarding pass that is a signatory of "In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa". This poem is going on europa clipper alongside our names and is specifically made for NASA. I plan to use the freely lisensed poem but I hate to use in the form below:

In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa

Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:05, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I want it in image or pdf format but that's available for Spanish version only. If I long press on the poem i can download a black background image and this background is very dull unlike paperish form of Spanish version. So.... Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:07, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Can you do like say download Spanish version and translate the whole page or pdf Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:08, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
* white background Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:09, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Spanish version Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:11, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
If image translation or simply replacing Spanish in image to given English non-downloadable text (i needed), i have to rely on blockquote method only. Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:23, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I can do that, but are you wanting to upload it to Commons? The author is not a NASA employee, and there's no evidence it is written under contract to NASA, so it is unlikely to be Public Domain. Huntster (t @ c) 09:37, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
We have a video and it's is stated she is working on this poem for nasa Chinakpradhan (talk) 09:57, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
https://europa.nasa.gov/message-in-a-bottle/learn/ @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 10:00, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I don't see anywhere on that page that the poem was written under contract with NASA. As far as I can determine, it was written to honor the mission in collaboration with NASA, but that is not the same thing as writing it under contract to or even for NASA. It is possible this is the case, but at this time we don't have enough information for that to be anything but an assumption. As always, NASA publishing something doesn't necessarily equal that work being released to the public domain. Huntster (t @ c) 10:06, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I need to say 2 things @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:43, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
1)the first pic at collectspace's page says U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón has revealed her poem, "In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa," an ode to be engraved on the side of NASA's Europa Clipper spacecraft. (NASA/JPL/collectSPACE) Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:44, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
2) the same page tells, "Limón is not the first Poet Laureate to be inspired by a NASA mission or even the first to send an original composition into space. Howard Nemerov, during his second term in service to the Librarian of Congress (1988-1990), wrote a poem upon "Witnessing the Launch of the Shuttle Atlantis," and four Poet Laureates — Billy Collins (2001 2003), Rita Dove (1993 1995), Juan Felipe Herrera (2015 2017) and Charles Simic (2007 2008) — contributed messages to the plaque that launched with NASA's Lucy spacecraft in 2021 on a mission to multiple asteroids."
As far as I can recall lucy one are not here and definitely won't be here. But is "Witnessing the Launch of the Shuttle Atlantis" on Wikipedia Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:46, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
@Huntster i won't regret even if you were right as songs played on Tesla roadster don't belong to public domain, so this poem then will simply belong to that class Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:48, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Yes. It isn't for lack of wanting to do what you asked (I had already converted the PDF when I realised, "wait, this isn't public domain!"). Huntster (t @ c) 17:28, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

Okkkkk so what was collectspace saying in image caption?????@Huntster are they wrong (just need to know that) Chinakpradhan (talk) 17:35, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

Are they playing double standards that crediting nasa for image and citing collaboration between poet and library of Congress in 3rd or 4th stanza of the page Chinakpradhan (talk) 17:37, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I don't understand what you're referring to. Huntster (t @ c) 17:39, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
If you visit that collectspace page they are tagging the first image as under nasa jpl lisence Chinakpradhan (talk) 02:03, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
"A collaboration between Limón and the Library of Congress, the "Message in a Bottle" campaign is similar to other NASA projects that have enabled tens of millions people to send their names on flights to the moon, Mars and beyond. The flight of the poem also continues a tradition of sending inspirational messages on interplanetary probes, such as the Pioneer plaques and the "Golden Records" on the two Voyagers, which were engraved with images meant to communicate that life existed back on Earth." Then they say this. Just clear out my confusion did they collaborated with nasa or library of Congress and could I used the image of poem tagged with lisence nasajpl/collectspace or not @Huntster (actually I mean they uploaded poem image under nasa jpl lisence but they say she collaborated with library of Congress, i am totally confused should I use the poem image at collectspace on commons or not) Chinakpradhan (talk) 04:41, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
I do not believe it is appropriate to use this image. I do not know why CollectSpace is crediting it in this way, but in my opinion it is likely not correct. Until and unless you can get or find a statement from NASA that this poem has been released as Public Domain or otherwise released under a Commons-compatible license, I do not believe it should be uploaded. Huntster (t @ c) 07:15, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
Ok, satisfying by uploading..... Chinakpradhan (talk) 12:08, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
File:Sample message in a bottle campaign boarding pass certificate.png @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 12:16, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
I have collected dozens of Eventbrite nasa patches can I upload them????? Chinakpradhan (talk) 12:17, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
like this @Huntster Chinakpradhan (talk) 12:25, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
I have no idea what those are. If they are issued by Eventbrite, the odds are they shouldn't be uploaded, but you'd have to contact Eventbrite to know for sure. They may even be created by the company that operates NASA's visitor center. I just don't know. Huntster (t @ c) 14:36, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
i will contact but actually nasa has a Eventbrite account the same way nasa has twitter, twitch, YouTube, etc accounts and they announce free virtual launch registration for NASA mission. You sign up after that whether you see the launch or not after mission launch you received a patch like i showed you. Chinakpradhan (talk) 02:32, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

I remember correctly I listened the images from https://www.youtube.com/@MetroRailBlog @Jonatan Svensson Glad discuss once. @huntster ir Someone teach how to claim an image is yours if you took it or received license via email? While I live in Kolkata and have plenty of opportunities to grab picks of such stations. Offah. Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:45, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
You claimed that you had photographed these images yourself, which there was a low likelihood off due to bad EXIF metadata, as well as a request for deletion over at COM:VRT. If you did not take the images yourself, you need to prove their free license (see COM:UNDEL) or have the photographer email COM:VRT with a free license release. These three images had EXIF pointing to "Google" as well as some being online earlier than COmmons version. We require evidence of free license be sent to VRT. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 16:12, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
Seems like its issue with metro rail blog no problem i am native i eill post the image myself for proof i will upload a separate pic of mine too.@Josve05a Chinakpradhan (talk) 18:04, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
