If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Hi Chem Sim 2001,

Obviously it's fine to publicize your activity on your userpage. But if you don't want to maintain the list manually, or if you want to avoid growing your page layout with the whole list, here's a link to them all: [1] DMacks (talk)

@DMacks: Hi, thanks for the link. At the moment, I try to reorganize and improve the layout of my user page! ;-) Chem Sim 2001 (disc) 10:07, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi Chem Sim,

Is that file a duplicate of File:Indigo skeletal.svg? DMacks (talk) 02:52, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

@DMacks: Hi, it's indeed a duplicate of this file. I found File:Indigo skeletal.svg because it was in use on the German Wikipedia, but in a bad condition. Some of the bonds were quite thick and didn't connect to each other, so I decided to upload File:Structural formula of indigo.svg as an improvement. Later I realized that someone has uploaded a new version over the original in File:Indigo skeletal.svg to "clean up" and "improve" the file (also see here), but the actual quality of the file decreased extremely. With my maintenance account, I reverted this new version to the original one. That's why we now have to nearly identical structures. Chem Sim 2001 (disc) 07:25, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
I see. Should File:Structural formula of indigo.svg now be deleted as a dup? "Duplicate" (same style, file-format, etc.) can often avoid the need to even do as much as a COM:DR. DMacks (talk) 16:16, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
@DMacks: Yes, no problem. You may delete File:Structural formula of indigo.svg because it's nearly identical to File:Indigo skeletal.svg and there is no need for having two structures which look exactly the same. Chem Sim 2001 (disc) 18:04, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Chem Sim 2001,

You tagged this file as {{Own}}, but surely the book is actually copyrighted by...Wiley I think? That means they actually own the license and you'd need their permission to release your photo of it. A derivative work is generally controlled by the original creator or the most-restrictive license among everyone in the chain, not the final link. Easy enough to avoid needing a full COM:DR if you think it should be deleted, just let me know. DMacks (talk) 04:27, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

@DMacks: I have bought this book and took a photo of it. Is it then still a case for deletion? Furthermore there are images like File:Neubauer, Dieter Eselsbrücken zur Eselsbrücken zur Chemie.pdf or File:Z.Chem.12.90.pdf which both show a book cover as well. I understand, so I think my picture needs to get deleted in this case, right? Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 20:54, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I think so. --Leyo 13:18, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
Okay, you can delete the picture if you want! Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 18:41, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
