Image deletion warning Image:Jose_Mourinho-07.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Copyright/Confusion

Hi Mr Brown, I'm new here and don't really understand much about the Commons. I took the work from the commons and then edited and uploaded it. I'm not really sure how to go about doing the changes. Can you help me? --Harris Morgan 17:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi

I thought you were away?! Anyway thanks for picking up on the junk - appreciated, cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:20, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Hiya Herby! :) I am kinda here and kinda not for most of the summer... I'll be back fully in July and then away for most of August. I just got internet access again after my last few edits at Commons! :-/ I hope to be more active in July! Cbrown1023 talk 00:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
If you are active enough to need some extra buttons do let me know <g> --Herby talk thyme 07:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Hehe :) maybe in July! :-P Cbrown1023 talk 15:35, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Copyright/Confusion Episode II

Hi Mr Brown,
Please could you check through my flags of Helsinki and Falkensee and check that I have licensed them correctly? Thanks for all the help --Harris Morgan 18:39, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Call to arms

Hi Cbrown1023. I write to you and all other users listed on the Welcome log helpers list, except for EugeneZelenko this Call to arms. The reason for it is that I have seen very little activity on the project by you. Because of this we have most probably failed to check the contributions of thousands of new users and have not been able to inform them of the practices on Wikimedia Commons in a timely fashion, causing more work for us and the contributor later in the process.

I would like to urge you to make a habit of checking at least 10 or so new user's contributions from the Commons:Welcome log each day you are active here. We welcome about 200 new users with contributions each day and we currently have 19 users on the helpers list. You can find links to some helpful scripts on the welcome log page, that are likely to make your life a lot easier. If there are no users to be checked that have been welcomed today, please attend to a previous log. Thank you for your renewed attention. Cheers! Siebrand 12:22, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Copyright/Confusion Episode III

Thanks,
you've been very hepful. --81.104.190.115 20:36, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I uploaded the image again - I didnt know how to answer you. I found the image in the Wikipedia article about Brazilian Air Force, where it is licensed as Public Domain. I dont know how to mention it at the Commons. Sorry about all the mess! Zkip 19:02, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

You need to post a link to the original author and where you found the image in Wikipedia. Cbrown1023 talk 14:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Bits

Hi - Gaynewyorker stuff - I deleted teh personal one that you tagged but there are a fair few others? Any thoughts? Also you do run the welcome bot on quote? If so when you are fully active I think some discussion on en Books might be an idea - welcomes are only patchy at present & while I prefer a "real" one nothing at all ain't good.

Hope all is ok - cheers --Herby talk thyme 11:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Gaynewyorker... to be honest, no one around here seemed to keen on his work and it was a little weird. I would delete all the ones that weren't used citing "right to vanish; out of scope" and then the ones that are used, well, you can have a discussion on the Admin noticeboard or open up a deletion request (or I can, whatever is better :)).
Re: WelcomeBot; yeah I run it on quote and it runs off the toolserver, so it would be easy to set one up for quote. I'll be around for most of July (what's left of it :)), so we can start the discussion now. The only thing, though, it might be better if you started the discussion because I am not too active on books ;).
Everything's great, I hope the same with you! :) Cbrown1023 talk 15:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
I started the discussion here - it has had a fairly normally wikibooks response!. GNY - yeah, know what you mean - I was watching RC as quite a bit was created. Don't really see it as being within project scope. I guess if they've decided to "leave" that is an issue but they haven't tagged any of the other "offerings" as far as I could see. Not bad here and hopefully a bit more active - might be on RC from time to time in the next few days - cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:03, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:CanadianCorvettes.jpg

Hi. I uploaded the mentioned image, from the wikipedia article Corvette. Could you please check its OK? Thanks, Zkip 16:47, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

In all Wikipedia articles that contain imgaes, you can click on the image in question to get more information about it. When uploading these images to Commons, you should upload the image on that page (it's the largest and best resolution) and copy the information posted there. I'm not sure which image you're talking about. So you might want to try what I said. :) Cbrown1023 talk 19:08, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Toolserver stuff

The admin activity tool has died (for example) I understand because gunther has not logged in for a while. Now I'm guessing a few folk on a number of wikis have used this to see who is active (& importantly who is inactive). Any idea who might be up for doing a replacement one - I'm guessing you will now more about toolserver folk than I do! Even who else to ask? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:37, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Very active users on the toolserver are Betacommand, valhallasw and Bryan. You can drop in on #wikimedia-toolserver (IIRC) on IRC and ask admins. They could possibly give someone access to the files, as it may be easy to fix the tool for the changed database server configuration. Cheers! Siebrand 08:01, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
I was working on it. In fact, I already had something: http://tools.wikimedia.de/~bryan/commons_admins.php. Needs some refinement though. -- Bryan (talk to me) 11:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
If that looks like what I think it is, that is solely for Commons... the other tool is still going to need to be fixed. But Herbys, many of the tools start-up themselves as defined in their code, they might not be working due to the new hardware and updates and all that good stuff (or... they could just be busted :-P). Copyright Confusion

Hello,

Thanks for fixing copyright, it's nice ! Sorry for my confusion.

Friendly --Kikoucalou 19:03, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Image Tagging Image:LOCAAS.gif

I tried to upload a new version with a copyright tag, but it doesn't get tagged. It happens me quite often, that images I upload get untagged. What am I doing wrong):?--Victor falk 06:08, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello, you don't need to upload a new image to add a copyright tag and other information. All you need to do is click the edit button at the top of the page and add the information in the text box. The best way to illustrate the infomration is by using Template:Information. The guidelines found at Commons:First steps/Quality and description#Good file descriptions should be very helpful in doing this.
In order to help you tag it correctly, I need to know what it is license under and its source.
If you have any more questions (or this does not solve your problmem) please do not hesitate to ask. Cbrown1023 talk 18:39, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades...

Cbrown1023/Archive 1, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and Commons:Deletion requests), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons @ irc.freenode.net.

Hey - me too & catch you around! --Herby talk thyme 14:34, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Eugene and thanks Herby for nomming me. :) Thanks also to all those who supported me. Cbrown1023 talk

Congratulations. WjBscribe 15:57, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm ?!

...thanks for supporting my RfA even is you see no reason to do so [1] ... Or may I hope there's a "not" missing here? Finn Rindahl 07:46, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Hahahaha.... sorry, yeah, that was a typo. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 22:29, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Permissions

Thanks for looking those over. Is that the proper method that I was using since I didn't have the e-mails? Also, one of the images that I sent the e-mail for appears to have been deleted yesterday so thanks for bringing it back now that I finally sent the permission. It looks like you help me out on two different projects now. I'm trying to get away from you, which language don't you speak? Just kidding, thanks for the help. Soon, I'm planning on moving the images I uploaded on Wikipedia to here. --Nehrams2020 22:30, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Haha, yes, you sent them in an acceptable format, though the actual e-mails are preferred. :-) I still have a few more tickets to go over, but they look good and I should finish them soon. :-) It would be fantastic for you to move the images that are acceptable on Commons from Wikipedia to here. Thanks for all your work on Wikimedia projects! :-D Cbrown1023 talk 23:10, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
By the way, if I put a {{PermissionOTRS}} template, but forgot to remove the failed flickrreview template, just go ahead and remove the flickrreview template. ;-) Cbrown1023 talk 23:27, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

RfA

Hello,

Would you please consider using the standard {{Support}} template at RfA? The bare "+" is much harder to find and could be easily lost. thanks :) --pfctdayelise (说什么?) 11:53, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

I never liked those templates, but if it bothers you I guess I could do that... Cbrown1023 talk 23:15, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
BTW, thanks Cbrown for your support in my RfA. Regards. — Xavier, 22:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
No problem at all. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 23:07, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Request for deletion of history

Hello, would you please delete the historical version of Image:Barrie Condos and Houses in Winter.jpg‎. It has some private information I should probably have not released that I would appreciate deleted. Wikada 20:22, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

I think I've deleted the correct version, do you want to double-check? Cbrown1023 talk 22:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes you did thanks VERY much :) Wikada 11:52, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

OTRS

I sent an email called "Fresno Assembly Center merit badge card.jpg" to OTRS via 'permissions-en@wikimedia.org'; permissions@wikimedia.org; permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Can you tag the image with OTRS? I've uploaded it. The last time I did this the OTRS people had trouble finding as it went to their spam folder for some reason. Thanks. Merry Christmas! RlevseTalk 18:34, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Merry Christmas to you too. :-) We haven't gotten it yet, when did you send it? Cbrown1023 talk 18:57, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Sent about 5 minutes before I sent you the email. The email subject line is the same as the file name. RlevseTalk 19:02, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
