I received a message from a Bot that the image I uploaded had no category. I went in after the upload and added one, so this should be taken care of now.

I would like to change the file name of the image but seem unable to do so. I have searched FAQ with little success. Can you provide a link on how to change an image file's name? Or should I ask that it be deleted and upload the same image with the correct file name?

Thanks, Steve Lonhart (talk) 16:17, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Categorization Bot

I got some notices that I need to post categories. I'm trying to get everything moved over from wikipedia, and I thought I'd been putting categories on things. But once everything is moved, I will fine-tune the descriptive info. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots10:50, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Would it be feasible to add {{Query chemical}} to uncategorized file pages containing the license template {{PD-chem}}? --Leyo 14:24, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your work on my talk page

Hello Categorization Bot, Thank for all your corrections in my Women's Hockey photos. Forgive all my errors. Because I am new inexperience member on Wikimedia Commons. This morning I cannot understand the page in French language for the explanations. Can you help me? All my photos could go to the category Category:Women's ice hockey . Also Image:Danijela-rundqvist-8janvier2010.jpg . But How to proceed ???? the explanations in French language are not clear for one beginner.

Sorry but I don't understand more the text in French lanquage on the categories. It is same situation for me in the English text. I am a young beginner on Wikimedia Commons and it seems to me complicated (in French and in English)... There is always an interrogation to put how all my recent photos in the category Category:Women's ice hockey . Can you help me please . It is very hard for a young beginner member but i believe it is very easy for experimented members. Thank for help me, merci de vouloir m'aider. --Geneviève 16:47, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

If you want to add a file to the category Category:Women's ice hockey you have to go to the description page of that file, click on edit (in French interface: modifier) and add the text [[Category:Women's ice hockey]] to the bottom of the page. If you want to add a file to a category Xyz you have to add the text [[Category:Xyz]]. --Martin H. (talk) 17:20, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank, merci --Geneviève 11:56, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

In the middle?

Just curious, but why in the middle (sort of) and not at the bottom where it would be easier to see? Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather Talk 11:14, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Because I don't want to flood talk pages with multiple instances of {{Please link images}}. The bot finds the last instance of {{Please link images}} (actually the "Uncategorized notification" note) and adds new files to the list. Multichill (talk) 11:48, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
That makes sense given how much some editors don't enjoy getting bot messages. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather Talk 23:40, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
