Finnish Military[edit]

Hello and thank you for your contribution. We have a major victory. FAF flag category is nice and clean. Could you now find as much information as possible about the missing flags? I need to create: Ilmavoimien viestipataljoonan lippu, Ilmasotakoulun lippu, Kuljetuslentolaivuen lippu, Tiedustelulentolaivuen lippu and Ilmavoimien Teknillinen koulun lippu.

Another project I am about to start - shoulder sleeve insignia of Suojeluskunta and Lotta Svärd. I need all information possible about this subject. Can you help? Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 14:57, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, definitely looks much better with the fictional flags gone. The book I used for the FAF Headquarters has info about Ilmasotakoulu & Ilmavoimien Teknillinen koulu and has drawings of both the flag and the insignia. There is also information box about the history of the flag. I don't unfortunately have the second part of the book which has FDF units before 2007. I might get it later from the library but it might take a long time. Another book, which I have has the same flags as that virtualpilots website, however there is no info about the flags.

Here is what it says on the infobox of Ilmavoimien Teknillinen koulu about the flag: "School's Cobalt Blue flag has black swastika with white borders. --- (More description on the flag's look, can be seen on the picture) --- The flag was confirmed on 20.10.1967 and it was put to use on 4.6.1968. The flag has been designed by Olof Eriksson and B. O. Heinonen." [Page 269 of the book] Here is picture of the flag (I believe scan of it can be posted freely as it is part of authority's decision and thus outside copyrights. [1] ) The (shoulder and sleeve) insignia of the ILVTK was the following (in use from 2.12.1992) : [2]

Here is info about the Ilmasotakoulu flag: "The school's flag is the newest of the Air Force flags --- (description about the flag's looks) --- The flag was approved on 13.12.2004 and put to use in 4.1.2005. It has been designed by Liisa Kontiainen." [Page 266 of the book] Picture of the flag: [3] The insignia of the school: [4] (Since 13.12.2005, same designer)

I don't know much info about the Suojeluskunta & Lotta Svärd insignia, however if I'm able to find some books about them I can help. --Caselius (talk) 09:59, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I will use this information. But I am not loosing the hope to get all the proportions and colour codes necessary to create the most accurate image. Keep in touch. --Kwasura (talk) 18:22, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Favour[edit]

Greetings! I started uploading Joukko-osastotunnus and Joukko-osastoristi to ve appropriate categories. Can you help me to understand this? Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 16:53, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can help with some Joukko-osastotunnus which I have found on magazines of different units. I should have some in SVG format, mainly from ground forces units. Here is a short summary what it says about the use of the crosses: There is four companies in Häme Armored Battalion. Armored jaeger crosses (Panssarijääkäriristi) is given inside armored jäger company (PSJK) and military police company (SPOLK). Panssariristi is given for tankmen in Armored company (PSVK) and armored engineer crosses (Panssaripioneeriristi) is given in the armored engineer company (PSPIONK). Previously armored troops, engineers and jaeers were in different battalions (armored battalion, engineer company and Häme jaeger battalion) which were later merged into Häme Armored Battalion in 2003. --Caselius (talk) 06:02, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I can really use your help. And how these crossed were called when introduced? I am talking about an official full name. And I am trying to name every coss in a format Unit name joukko-osastoristi. Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 13:32, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
According to "Puolustusvoimat ennen ja nyt" -book the crosses are either named joukko-osastoristi or perinneristi. Perinneristi is for units which were previously independent but they were merged or moved inside another unit. For example the Panssarijääkäriristi would be one of them, while the cross of PSPR would be joukko-osastoristi. The book "Puolustusvoimat - Joukko-osastoperinteet" lists only the joukko-osastoristi's, insignias and the unit flags. Basically joukko-osasto is independent unit (usually brigade/air command or regiment) consisting of smaller units (companies, battalions & regiments) which might have traditions of their own (like flags = perinnelippu, marches = perinnemarssi and crosses perinneristi). I'm not totally sure how they were previously named, I'd believe independent units back then would have had "joukko-osastoristi" as a name but now they are just called "perinneristi". --Caselius (talk) 16:10, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings! Will you back me up in deletion request? I know we have a consensus about this subject and this file is hanging here just because of one man's stubbornness. But I am sure we have enough expertise to fight this stubbornness. The cause is just. Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 18:01, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I will try find some more information about the flags and comment there, I should have enough information to prove that there was only six unique Air Force unit flags circa 2007. Though I am still unsure if disbanded units which were subordinated under command of new units retained their flags (like Tukilentolaivue) --Caselius (talk) 10:32, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. I am about to nominate this file to be deleted. Would like to ask for your opinion first. Sincerely, --Kwasura (talk) 18:05, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
