This was not a copyright violation. I took the picture, it belongs to me and I have uploaded it again. I trust there'll be no problem with it this time. Cardinal Wurzel (talk) 11:40, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Some help with your new upload[edit]

Hi Cardinal Wurzel: I have looked at your new uploads of Hamish (such a cute cat) and I find you uploaded two times. One time is nearly perfect, the other time is small. Because of the one perfect one, I am thinking to remove the small one, but since you have had such a difficult time with Commons so far, I wanted to talk to you about it first.

I think this file File:Hamish McHamish.jpg is the almost perfect one. This file File:Hamish In Bookshop.jpg is the one I would like to remove because it is a small version of the larger one and it shows more of what seems to be some artwork over his shoulder in the background. The larger file is cropped more tightly making any possible poster or whatever it is less the center of attention, or de minimus.

I wanted to let you know before I did anything so that you would not be upset or concerned by housekeeping! Also on the bigger file, could you go back into the editing and change one thing? Right below "author" is "permission" as shown here:

|author=Cardinal Wurzel |permission=

Could you add the characters PD-self to follow "permission" like this?

|author=Cardinal Wurzel |permission= PD-self

That will take care of any problems with the self license as you gave full rights in your simple statement, it seems to me that the PD-self license is probably closest to your desire, but to be sure, please read about it and the various licenses at COM:L.

The other thing I changed on your upload was I put Hamish into the Category (no pun intended) of "Domestic Cats" ... I typed which puts the picture here with the rest of the domestic cats in need of sorting into finer categories. There may be other categories in which he could be added. For example, if his bookstore has a category, or there may be a category for bookstore cats. Wander around in the categories and see if perhaps there is an additional category to which to add him. If "bookstore cats" for an example is a sub-set of "domestic cats" when you put him in the finer category, you take him out of the larger enclosing category. Let me know if you need more help with this!

If you would write me back, either here or on my talk page, I will then proceed to take out the smaller Hamish photo. If I don't hear from you in a few days, I will probably just remove it, please don't be upset, the bigger one is better!!

Images with proper license and into a category or two are less likely to have problems with review. I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into contributing to Wiki Commons and I hope you will consider contributing more in the future. Thanks! Subsequently INC removed the image and explained why. OTRS is not a hard process, I hope everything works out! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:35, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry this has been such a hard process, but for what it's worth, it's an adorable cat picture and I hope you will be taking and uploading many other images (cats and non-cats) for WikiCommons! Please consider taking photos of your area or neighborhood, interesting things in the world around you. We can always use more interesting educational images. Many towns in the U.S. only have one picture!! Ellin Beltz (talk) 06:36, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re-uploading deleted image[edit]

The Hamish image was deleted because it was previously published on http://bloomvc.com/project/hamish-mchamish. You need to email COM:OTRS with evidence that you are the copyright holder, and perhaps explain the connection with that website. You could also upload a full-resolution version of the image with original COM:EXIF to show you're the author. If you upload the image again without doing either of these, your account will be blocked. INeverCry 17:27, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
