Hi,

The file has been undeleted. Could you please update the file page? Natuur12 (talk) 15:58, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Natuur12 for your help. I just updated the license information on the page. Please let me know if I missed anything. CKoerner (WMF) (talk) 16:04, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I added a link to the article history so people know which Wikipedia contributors wrote the text. Thanks for updating. Natuur12 (talk) 16:08, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of no permission tags[edit]

I have undone your removal of {{No permission since}} tags from the above files. The photo metadata indicates that the copyright holder of these photos is seth appiah photography (seth appiah photography (Photographer) - [None], not Sandiooses. Evidence of permission is required by Commons:Project scope/Evidence in these cases, and unless such evidence of permission is provided to COM:OTRS by the copyright holder, Commons licensing policy requires that we delete the file. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 16:42, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I was confused. Didn't notice the metadata attribute. Thanks for that AntiCompositeNumber. CKoerner (WMF) (talk) 16:53, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Subtitles[edit]

Hello Chris,

there are overlapping periods where two captions are shown at the same time in the file about the Annual Plan. I try to fix this in this file. If you think it is more bad after it you can change it. What for a software was used for generating the captions. The translation is good but in the timing there are mistakes.--20:39, 14 July 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hogü-456 (talk • contribs) 20:39, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Hogü-456. I saw your attempt to fix the captions and appreciate it. I spent hours today trying to figure out what happened and finding a solution. Here's what I know. I created the videos and then uploaded them to YouTube a few weeks ago. YouTube created a machine translation of the English track, which I exported. The machine translation is really good and was the basis of the English captions. I then spent some time fixing proper nouns, grammar, "um"s, and other bits. I then sent the English transcript off to translators before I was out for a week (and right before we were set to share the Annual Plan) to have them translated into multiple languages. I used an online tool that supposedly converts the .sbv format YouTube uses to the .srt (SubRip). In testing this appeared to work. However, as you noticed with the difference between how YouTube displays captions (as a stream of words) and Commons (lines of text) there is now an overlap. I've investigated some automated means to correct for this, but have not been successful in finding one that works. CKoerner (WMF) (talk) 21:08, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello CKoerner (WMF), I updated the English subtitles now and have created for that a Spreadsheet that converts the time so that there is no overlapping and now they seem to be correct. I have sent you that file in an E-Mail and you can check the subtitles and try if they work. If you are interested and have time I can tell you some more about the file during the Wikimania Hackathon this year. I plan to attend. Maybe it is also possible to create a own conversion from the YouTube Subtitle format to the format used in Wikimedia Commons.--Hogü-456 (talk) 21:04, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hogü-456, This was totally beyond the help I deserved. Thank you for stepping in and helping fix this problem. It is much appreciated. With your great work I can get the other language translations in place without such errors. As for the Hackathon, yes! Let's make sure we connect. I'd love to chat with you more. Implementation of extensions of 3D models for Commons[edit]

Hi!

I hope that you are the right person to contact for this topic. You announced the introduction of 3D models on Commons here in 2018, which was an important and huge step. This was several years ago, and now there is a desire to be able to upload textured 3D models. One Phabricator ticket (phab:T246901) and a request for an introduction are already given. Is there a possibility that the Wikimedia Foundation could accompany or take over the implementation?

Thank you and best regards --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 17:10, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PantheraLeo1359531 Hey, sorry for taking this long to reply. Unfortunately, there is no possibility for this fiscal year (i.e. until June 30) that the developer team will work on this, since they're well under way with this fiscal year's schedule. I will try to make a case for next fiscal year. Please reach out to me for updates, if I don't let you know anything. Cheers, Sannita (WMF) (talk) 19:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sannita (WMF): Thank you for letting me know! It may seem like I already annoy with this topic, but I think it would be an important and splendid addition for Commons since the STL implementation. I really hope that it will be possible :). Best regards --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 20:38, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
