Wrongly uploaded files[edit]

Hi! I've recently encountered a big problem with your bot :( I made Flickr upload bot to upload two photos and it didn't work properly as it needed. Please look at those two photos, they are uploaded partially by bot (only a half of picture): 1 and 2. Maybe the situation is caused by lag at toolserver so that I will wait till tomorrow in order to upload other photos. Regards, Patrol110 dyskusja 20:06, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non-uploading Flickr upload bot[edit]

Hey Bryan, a number (1, 2, 3. 4, 5, 6, 7) of Flickr uploads over the past few days. Not sure why.--Nilfanion (talk) 08:07, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DRBot[edit]

There are many unarchived closed deletion requests. Why? See also User talk:Lupo#Deletion requests. Lupo 22:04, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr upload bot[edit]

I made a few changes to the upload client, so let's hope that it goes right the coming few days. I'll have time to do a more thorough investigation this weekend probably. -- Bryan (talk to me) 20:04, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour[edit]

raise ValueError("No JSON object could be decoded")[edit]

I'm trying to connect to my local website running MediaWiki (Fedora 8 install) but I keep getting an exception. When I connect to commons.wikimedia.org I don't get an exception so the problem must be local to my machine. I have no idea what else to try, Google is surprisingly unhelpful.

I have the following in LocalSettings.php

$wgEnableAPI = true;
$wgEnableWriteAPI = true;

Here is my code:

host = "www.example.com" # changed for this post
path = "/wiki/"
site = mwclient.Site( host, path="/wiki/" )

Any help would be appreciated. Kneufeld (talk) 00:39, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First problem was that api.php was trying to get me to config the site, once I edit a page to get it to find LocalSettings.php I actually got the api.php xml page. 2nd problem was I was still getting the Exception as above so I upgraded to the phase3 from svn and now everything works.

Speedy deletions[edit]

Dear Sir, When a picture is CSD on Commons, how long does it take before it is deleted? On Wikipedia, it is a matter of hours whereas here, it seems to be days. I have uploaded perhaps 25+ images from flickr and almost all were correctly tagged by me (which was easy since I knew what the images were!) but these 2 Commons images uploaded by me were incorrectly described by the flickr source as the tomb of a certain Egyptian Queen. Worse still, I uploaded another copy of the image since one image failed flickr bot review for unknown reasons...so they are essentially duplicates I hope someone will delete them: Image:Mastaba of Meresankh III (Giza).jpg and Image:Image-Mastaba of Meresankh III (Giza).jpg] as they are an embarrassment to me. While I always check a flickr owners catalogue of images to make sure they were in a museum or overseas trip when they took a photo and did not copy it from another source, I've painfully learned that not all flickr uploaders accurately tag their images correctly. I guess one learns a new lesson every day. With kind Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:19, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Resignation of adminship[edit]

Unfortunately I have no longer time to fulfill my duties as Commons admin. I'll probably check back here every week and I hope to come back at a later time. I will continue to be involved with MediaWiki development (especially in Commons related parts of the software) and with my bots, which will continue to operate normally. -- Bryan (talk to me) 21:59, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Snif. Thanks for all your excellent work. Giggy (talk) 01:44, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some input?[edit]

Would you like to comment on Commons:Village pump#Picture of the Year 2008 in risk of not happening? Maybe you could give some suggestions on how to improve from your experience last year. Thanks, Patrícia msg 21:58, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Even though you are not able to help with POTY, I hope we can still count on using the POTY platform. Platonides (talk) 22:08, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Upload of Image:Bahnhof-wasserburg-stadt.jpg using Flickr upload bot failed. Can you restart the upload and thereby create a new version of this file or does it have to be deleted first? --GeorgR (de) (talk) 18:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind my question; the image is now displayed correctly. Thank you! --GeorgR (de) (talk) 19:01, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flickrbot[edit]

Hoi, de flickrreview bot heeft nog steeds niet gewerkt. Heb je enig idee wanneer hij weer gaat werken?

Om een te grote backlog te voorkomen heb ik er al een paar met de hand gedaan er waren er nog 236 en nu 156.

Picture of the Year - 2008[edit]

Hi Brian. I'm just wondering... are you'll planning on being involved with the 2008 Picture of the Year contest again this year? J.smith (talk) 03:06, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr upload bot is crazy uploading one and again Image:AT+T_building_in_San_Diego.png. See it has uploaded the same image six times [2] (plus another two where upload was truncated, and a MBisanz revert). I have protected the image page to stop it. My guess is that the + in the filename is not being urlescaped. Platonides (talk) 20:41, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was also breaking on Image:Clock_Guts_-_Gears.jpg. I have blocked it pending to have its brain checked... or its code ;-) Platonides (talk) 20:51, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bot failed to upload[edit]

You bot had failed to upload Image:VC10, Sydney Airport 1969.jpg. Bidgee (talk) 17:10, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation for keeping Image:Flag of Hezbollah.svg[edit]

Hello. Could you explain why you closed Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Flag of Hezbollah.svg as "Kept: {{PD-ineligible}}" back in Febuary 2007? Reading the discussion there it seems that the flag is eligible for copyright. --Apoc2400 (talk) 18:18, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
