Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:40, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

File:Palazoo-las-vegas-jimmy-choo.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

File:X1KKEZCOiVSYNs-640m.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Thanks for uploading File:Southernhighlandsgolfclub.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Southernhighlandsgolfclub.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Copyright violations[edit]
Hello Bporter28.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:One Queensridge Place.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Image copyright[edit]
I noticed that you've added explanations to images marked as "no permission". Unfortunately, these rationales have no basis in copyright law - images do not lose copyright after a certain number of uses of reproductions. They retain copyright until either the owner releases the images into the public domain, or the copyright has expired because it's been over 70 years after the death of the copyright owner. It doesn't look like either has happened. Please read COM:L for a basic overview on how licensing works. In the meantime, please don't upload any more images that do not belong to you. --Ytoyoda (talk) 01:36, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

- I think you misunderstood the terms and conditions on the Forbes blog. It's a boilerplate fine print that grants Forbes (and not anyone else) the rights to all user-submitted content. For our purposes, it means Forbes owns the rights to the image and it's not free. --Ytoyoda (talk) 03:12, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

NV SR 573[edit]
I saw you tried to remove it from the SR 573 page in Wikipedia, and LJTheFro put it back. Now you come here and try to have it deleted. Besides the fact there is no reason for its deletion (it was accurate at the time only a few months ago and the landscaping is irrelevant to the subject), what gives exactly? If you find the picture out of date slightly because of some piddly landscaping, go and take a picture of the current location yourself, upload it, and put it on Wikipedia. Put your $$ where your mouth is. Famartin (talk) 19:06, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Image problems[edit]
Please stop uploading images for which you fail to add the appropriate needed details, or whose details you don't have. We take copyright status and sourcing very seriously and the images you uploaded don't have this information, so several have been nominated for deletion. If you did not take the photos yourself and they are copyright to someone else, or you found them on a website, please don't upload them unless you have permission of the copyright holder or unless they are specifically freely licenced with a copyright that does not have any commercial or derivative restrictions. We also need to know the source website or publication, with a unique url of the page the image appear on, so we can check any copyright tag you add to an image. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 18:31, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Why to you think this claim you made proves this is in the public domain? Copyright is a complex issue but being on several websites the public can view does not prove an image is freely licenced. Did you not see the copyright notice "All rights reserved" at the bottom of both the weichert and sotherbys webpages? That menas we cannot use them, Images don't even need to have a notice but they do need to have a notice they are freely licenced, so your recent additions that lack permission are actually no use and will be deleted. The images still have no permission from the copyright holder and I doubt you can get their permission. However, if you can get them to verify permission please ask them to follow the procedure found at COM:OTRS. Sorry but you can't just copy images from the internet and claim they are freely licenced. You could be blocked from editing if you continue to upload such images, so just be more careful in future and make sure the images are freely licenced.
- If you want to try and find images you can use they must either actually be verifiably in the public domain or have a free licence such as one of the acceptable Creative Commons licences we allow, or (or with a higher number). You will find many such licenced images on Flickr linked from this webpage: https://www.flickr.com/creativecommons but only the 1st and 6th categories are acceptable here. If you do find some Flick images it is best to use this tool, http://tools.wmflabs.org/flickr2commons/ because it checks if images is properly licenced for us.
- This image File:Sunrise-manor.jpg is not on the link you provided and the wikipedia reference is just a link to our enwiki article, so that claim is no good either. Despite File:SpringValleyNV.jpg has not been modified and also because it does not allow modification or commercial use menas we can't keep it. It is not an acceptable licence. I suggest you familiarise your self better with our copyright policy. With the amount of warnings on this page I would have though you would be more careful by now.
