You are Korean ? I seen that you are interested to contribute in the stroke order project. We lack of korean sources !

Authoritative source for Korea

It would be even better if you can provide an authoritative korean source, usually publish by a country's Education Ministry (教育部). Does Korea have an official source, stating the correct, korean, stroke order for Hanja ? I'm very interested to find one such authoritative book or ministry website. As you can see on Stroke_order_according_to_national_rules, China and Taiwan have such official book stating the correct Stroke order. Japan being a special "free way" case.

In fact, It seems that Hanja are mainly write in the same order that Japanese Kanji. If you can got the information, I'm interested to know from WHERE this come from ? and does Korean have a Ministerial stroke order convention, or something like that. I do have a text book thats from the Language Education Institute of Seoul National University and it has a set of rules on how the characters should be written. Would that be useful? I will however contact a professor to see if I can get information if there is a ministerial stroke order convention. One thing I can say is hanja seems to be much less important, and people seem to just memorize the meanings in how they relate to Korean vocabulary but maybe not how to actually write the Chinese character. It would be interesting, but the really useful stuff would be authorative sources to base the work on. Please let us know what that professor says.

Taiwan has a single authorative document illustrating the correct stroke order. Currently, Japan issues guidelines, not strict rules. Please see if he can give us information on the status in Korea.

Information on how the hanja differ from the other variants would also be of great value. Like Yug, I've heard that they are are usually the same as in Japanese (standardised during the occupation). I read it on the internet ... so it must be true! ;^) --Swift (talk) 07:06, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I will get back to you as soon I hear from the professor. The Korean site "Naver" (popular search engine company) has a great dictionary, which includes the stroke orders too. For example http://hanja.naver.com/hanja.naver?where=brow_hanja&id=9444

I found it on the author's talk page. So I can contribute some animated Hangeul characters after I read the guidelines on the project, but I don't think there's any info on which Korean font to use. Bluesoju (talk) 07:25, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I pasted the wrong link, I meant to post the guidelines that is linked from that page, but it's linked in the project page anyway. Ooops >< . I contacted the original autor for a more in depth tutorial on creating those types of image, he doesn't seem to have any anti aliasing problems when he paints over the characters, his images come out very smooth. After figuring that out, I'd like to contribute some images. Right now as I paint over it, its painting over the anti aliased part and not looking smooth. Anyway sorry for posting the link and wasting your time, I should have looked more thoroughly the first time Bluesoju (talk) 10:52, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I encourage you to contact User:Micheletb instead. It's him who create the last set of -order.gif, and he his still active on wikipedia.

Korean wikiprojects

Hey Bluesoju,

• I have already seen that section of wikibook. I however don't really like the direction of that particular project and don't want to commandeer it. • b:East Asian Calligraphy project: I know about it, but write a wikibook is a long and hard task. Moreover, we are in fact creating their "primary sources" (images), and since we have a lot of work here, I think I(we) should not run 3 rabbits in the same time. I' m personnally too busy to involve myself in more projects. I still have to improve my user:yug/Stroke order on my side, then, free to them to use it widely, by example by replacing their very-[not great]-stub /Basic stroke order. I think the image is fine. You and others can always upload improvements later. Items for improvements would be to perhaps make the steps even smaller, rounding the stroke front and shape the stroke intersections. --Swift (talk) 11:30, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
