Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Appreciate letting me know. Bineshgardi (talk) 20:06, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Fitindia, I am wondering for what reason you deleted all my 50 photo uploads here? Licensing for all of them were fixed, but you went ahead and got rid of these photos; for what reason please? Please provide a clear justification for this action. Bineshgardi (talk) 02:08, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Since you expressed concerns at Commons:Universal_Code_of_Conduct_consultation#In_what_ways_can_peer_support_networks_help_to_support_users_who_are_targets_of_harassment? over not receiving an answer to your question, I'll answer it here. The files you uploaded are copyrighted © 2021 Bahá’í International Community, per https://media.bahai.org/ You say that you corrected their licenses on 21 January 2021. In [1] you said that you thought that adding the name of the rights holder would fix the license. It doesn't. Those images cannot be used unless the copyright holder licenses them with a suitable license for use on commons. Unless you are the copyright holder, you cannot do that yourself. Since hosting those images on commons is a copyright violation, they had to be deleted. Vexations (talk) 18:46, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This is a very good learning for me, because when I decided to upload those photos, I thought since the pictures are for anyone to download from the Media Bank on bahai.org, and the copyright holder is Baha'i International Community, that makes it okay to upload for free use of others. You said: "...unless the copyright holder licenses them with a suitable license for use on commons." May I ask, what kind of license is suitable for use on commons? With much appreciation for your time and willingness to educate, Bineshgardi (talk) 03:06, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. The Creative Commons CC0, CC-BY and CC-BY-SA licenses are examples of licenses that are suitable for use on Commons. This is explained in detail in Commons:Licensing. Vexations (talk) 21:27, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
