Vandalism[edit]

You are engaging in vandalism. Read COM:CENSORSHIP. If you continue wasting everyone's time trying to censor Wikimedia, I believe you are likely to be blocked. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:59, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request granted

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, and one or more administrators has reviewed and granted this request.

Request reason: "I have spent some time considering my actions and agree that a block was justified, and I have learnt from it; it will not happen again. However, I feel an indefinite block was harsh, considering that I stopped once I received the first warning on my talk page. While I acknowledge the disruption was extensive, and that my account appeared as if its sole purpose was to vandalise this site, this was not my intention when I created my account, but I understand why my actions gave this impression. I also had no previous history of blocks that would add credence to an increase in block time. I have a number of edits on English Wikipedia, which I feel proves my intentions are to the benefit of these sites, just that I became distressed by the severity of the explicit material on this site, and acted extremely rashly in response, without considering the relevant guidelines I have familiarised myself with now. All I ask is that you give me the opportunity to do better. Bilksneath (talk) 09:11, 15 August 2023 (UTC) Bilksneath (talk) 09:11, 15 August 2023 (UTC)"[reply]
Unblock reason: "As per RTH below. Yann (talk) 07:31, 18 August 2023 (UTC)"[reply]

You said on your userpage "I am on a mission to remove all non-educational sexual content from Commons." What about that mission? Taivo (talk) 12:06, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As I said in my request, I found the extent and severity of the content depressing as a result of events in my personal life. I have taken time to consider the guidelines of this website and fully acknowledge that my actions were wrong. I am in a better headspace now, and these actions will not be repeated. Bilksneath (talk) 13:26, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Actually you did not say, why do you need to be unblocked. What will you do in Commons if unblocked? Taivo (talk) 07:02, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have experience with creating scientific diagrams, which could prove a useful resource for Commons, I also have skills in OSINT and can contribute to geotagging media that has been taken in a location that has not been recorded. With these skills I can also identify and categorise unidentified images and generally assist with the maintenance and cleanup of the website. Bilksneath (talk) 09:02, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the above, I'm inclined to unblock. They have contributed in a positive way towards other sister projects, such as the English Wikipedia, and appear to have written a sincere statement reflecting on why they were blocked in April. Four months after this block, I think that we should give them a second chance—provided that they will be blocked again if they return to this sort of disruptive editing and that an unblock from a second indef will be unlikely. @Yann: Do you have any objection to an unblock under these terms? If not, I will unblock the user. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 17:28, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

OK, fine. Unblocked. Yann (talk) 07:30, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
