Problems with uploads

Are you encountering difficulties while uploading? I've uploaded a batch of images using the Commonist and some of the images have yet to show up. Others have "turned up" over half an hour late. The sever issues are rediculous if you ask me. OSX (talkcontributions) 15:42, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism of my userpage. --Túrelio (talk) 12:48, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

File:Rally New Zealand 2006.jpg

Hey. Why did you speedy delete File:Rally New Zealand 2006.jpg? The image was originally licensed as cc-by-sa-2.0 and Creative Commons licenses are non-revocable. As stated on COM:F, there is no consensus on what to do with these "possibly unfree" images. Certainly you should not go around speedying them. Thanks, Prolog (talk) 18:09, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

It was in the Flickr images needing human review category which had a back-log and miss read the date as April 2007 rather then November 2006 (About the time FlickrReviewing [from what I've been told] began but seems a few images missed out) but I have restored the image with a message also stating if that if anyone had the issue of it being restored then they should take it to COM:DR. I apologise about my deletion error. Bidgee (talk) 06:38, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

deletion tags

hi; i didn't intend remove any deletion tags.

as best i can recall, my intention was to revert the nominating users de-coupling of the category, i didn't notice the tag had been dropped too; the user has de-populated & de-coupled a number of categories i had been working on sorting out, & i was in the middle of trying to untangle the best, sry abt that.

Your reason is accepted but please be more careful next time as some other Admin's may see it in a different light. If you're having issues with a user(s) and feel if you're not getting anywhere when trying to discuss the issue then you should take it to Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems. Artur Barrio 01 photos

Re: File:Artur Barrio 01 photos courtesy of Moore College of Art & Design.jpg
I spoke with the woman who gave me the photograph and she said that she was releasing the photo into the public domain so that I could use it. I still have the letter from her if that should be posted as well. I can sure you that all rights have been release on these photos. I am just not sure what to do to make that apparent.

Bedford CF

How did you work out this File:1971-1981 Bedford CFS van.jpg is the short-wheelbase model (CFS), as opposed to the long-wheelbase (CFL)? OSX (talkcontributions) 09:11, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Van is only small (I seen this van driving around and happen to see it parked a few minutes later) and was shorter then another van (An ex-Mr Whippy van[No photo however as it was heading down the Sturt Hwy]) which was longer then the above van which is how I worked out it was a CFS rather then a CFL. Holden Gemini

Those Holden Gemini images I identified for you on Flickr are TE Geminis not TDs. Sorry, the correct titles should be 1979-1982 Holden TE Gemini SL sedan. OSX (talkcontributions) 11:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. Bidgee (talk) 12:46, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Australia's big things

File:Big Things Postcard.jpg is tagged for speedy deletion. Given that it gives a source and an author and is released into the public domain I am unsure what the issue is? While it is a derivative work, all the component images have been freely licenced as well. Is there anything else that needs to be done? Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 23:48, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. One of the issues was that there was no links to the images in the source (Even though the uploader created the postcard), the other issue is while that some of the images are PD the other were GFDL/CC-BY-SA which requires the image to be licensed as GFDL/CC-BY-SA (PD can't be used due to that). JPEG Corruption

Following your suggestion: Commons:Featured_picture_candidates#File:JPEG_Corruption.jpg or Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:JPEG Corruption.jpg. -- carol (talk) 18:37, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: Waleed Karim Photo

Thanks for your message.

I have received detailed documentation from Mr. Dawood Karim where he has explained his ownership of the photos, and that the photos were taken with Waleed Karim's camera. 3 of the photos were by a friend of W. Karim on his request, with Karim's camera. W. Karim died in combat in mid 60s, and his estate were inherited by Mr. Dawood Karim's father. This includes the photos, the negatives of the photos, the camera etc. But also, this includes the rights to the photos as well. Upon his father's death, Mr. Dawood Karim has inherited the estate, along with the copyright of these photos.

According to the inheritance law of Bangladesh (and erstwhile East Pakistan), the rights to the photos are now owned by Mr. Dawood Karim. Also, as far as I understand, according to the copyright act of Bangladesh (and the previous copyright act of united Pakistan), if anyone owning a camera asks someone to take a photo with the camera, the person taking it does not own the rights to the photos , rather Waleed Karim owned the rights to the photos.

I have already forwarded Mr. Dawood Karim's letter to the Permissions email. Once I get the OTRS reply, I'll send it to you. Thanks. --Ragib (talk) 06:50, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
