My apologies

I do try to take care when processing CAT:CV, but the above two files slipped through. I would be deeply sorry to be the cause of your retirement, and hope you reconsider. Storkk (talk) 09:49, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

The Espy

Hi, I didn't mean to offend by cropping your photo. I wanted a good shot of The Epsy for this section. I cropped yours so the hotel is recognisable at thumbnail level. If this is a problem then I'll go with a different image. Cheers. - HappyWaldo (talk) 08:03, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

@HappyWaldo: whether it was my photo or not COM:OVERWRITE exists for a reason. Use Commons:CropTool, which will allow you to not just crop but upload under a new title and the information will also be added. Bidgee (talk) 09:14, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
I wasn't aware of the crop tool. Thanks for sharing. - HappyWaldo (talk) 04:12, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Bidgee,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:Tang Dynasty circa 700 CE.png is out of date. the Soviet Union has split up, Korea is divided, Bangladesh is not West Burma and Afghanistan exists Could you update it? Thanks again. Geographyinitiative (talk) 23:09, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

I’m not the uploaded. Though any update should be uploaded as a new name/title per COM:OVERWRITE. I’m also won’t be getting involved in creating a map, ask the original uploader. Bidgee (talk) 23:47, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

South Sudan border

Hello.

There is an edit war going on in both maps, but if it is allowed, could you add the border of South Sudan in these two maps?

I am adding South Sudan (as well as Montenegro and other possible missing updates) in the PNG and GIF maps in Category:Maps needing South Sudan political boundaries and then remove this category after updating them. There were close to 1100 maps since I started to update these files on 1 March 2018, now it is reduced to less than 500 maps, but there is a long way to go.

Yours sincerely, Maphobbyist (talk) 19:33, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello.
Can you add the border of South Sudan in File:Wikimedia chapters existing and regional user groups.svg, File:Wikimedia chapters.svg, and File:Wikimedia chapters existing.svg? I have no knowledge about SVG files, and therefore cannot update them.
The war torn country where the internet is haphazard, has no Wikimedia chapter or regional user groups. So the color for the country is gray. Even the Dinka Wikipedia from South Sudan is barely active.
Yours sincerely, Maphobbyist (talk) 09:00, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
Not high on my list of things to do, since updating my OS, I no longer can use 32 bit software. When I can see value in purchasing a subscription for the software I know (there are freeware editing software but I'm not trained in using them) how to use, I will do it. Help

Hello, this is the first time that I upload images from Flickr to Commons and I have doubts how I can adapt the images, as I transferred some images [1][2][3] whose creator was Queensland State Archives, which is linked to the Australian government and the images were put in the public domain, what kind of information is still needed, could you help me? For example, what I need to do in this image? Bruno Ishiai 10:32, 1 August 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ishiai (talk • contribs) 10:32, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

I don't think they are in the public domain per "E Commonwealth, State or Territory owned2 photographs and engravings" {{PD-Australia}}, so it would be in the public domain in 2036. Since the "Public Domain" is "Public Mark", something Commons user disagree with being "Public Domain". Bidgee (talk) 07:44, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Mrcl lxmna

As for [4], would you by any chance take a look at Incnis Mrsi? Sealle (talk) 15:13, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

I've had a look but I think it would be inconclusive. I can't find a solid link. I do think Mrcl lxmna is someone who can act very differently to what ever their main account is to try and avoid detection and I think even if I found enough evidence, they would be ensuring the is little connection with the sock and main account. File, 3830 at Thirlmere

This picture is my property, I took it. DC5806 is MY flickr account. I uploaded it to BOTH Flickr and Wikimedia. Please remove this copyright violation notice as I rightfully own this file. For proof-

Regards, DCook58 (aka DC5806) User:DCook58 (talk) 05:41, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

@DCook58: Please send permission to COM:OTRS, since you took a file from a Facebook account that wasn't your work, we need to have verified proof (since this file will be deleted). Bidgee (talk) 05:53, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

This picture (3830 at Thirlmere) has never been on facebook (to my knowledge). You must be confusing this picture with the one that I did take from a facebook account (green 3801 at Thirlmere). I am currently trying to delete that one as it is not my work. Please respond with appropriate details for how to confirm ownership of File:3830 at Thirlmere (this picture has no relation to facebook) --DCook58 (talk) 06:16, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

@DCook58: Use the interactive OTRS permission generator and follow the steps. Bidgee (talk) 09:06, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

East-Hem 700ad.jpg

Please look at this map, many ancient countries in Tang Dynasty circa 700 CE.png are marked incorrectly — Preceding unsigned comment added by Бмхүн (talk • contribs) 10:06, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

It doesn't matter, I'm not here to pick what map is correct and what isn't at the end of the day you are violating COM:OVERWRITE. Upload under a new file name and do not overwrite files. Bidgee (talk) 12:09, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

FoP templates

Hello. If FoP templates are supposed to be for files only, then why are such templates existing in many categories? For proof, see Category:FoP-Belgium, Category:FoP-United Kingdom, and Category:FoP-Poland. Because of such instances, I began also to place FoP templates on top of categories of some Chinese skyscrapers (Category:FoP-China), the category of Petronas Towers (Category:FoP-Malaysia), and the category of some modern US skyscrapers (Category:FoP-United States). I think it is now accepted (albeit de facto) to place such templates on categories. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 07:30, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Those templates should be added to the files, adds nothing but clutter to the category pages, just because other categories have it, doesn't mean it should (See en:WP:OSE). Maybe added since no one has created a slim or collapsible banner that links to the relevant page but even then common-sense should be used, if there was no FoP, there shouldn't be a category for the object/item/building/memorial/statue ect.
