First steps tutorial

Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}

Merci pour tes corrections. Ce n'est pas évident quand on commence. Je vais corriger les autres photos que j'ai importées. J'aurais une question. Je voudrais créer une nouvelle catégorie (ville de Madagascar qui n'est pas encore listée). Est-ce que c'est bien compliqué? Merci.

Bonjour,
Tu peux lire à ce sujet fr:Aide:Catégorie/Organiser#Créer une catégorie.
Par exemple, pour créer Category:Ambalavao ce matin, j'ai
  1. cliqué sur modifier et je suis arrivé sur http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Ambalavao&action=edit
  2. créé automatiquement un sommaire avec cet outil
  3. ajouté Category:Cities of Madagascar pour que Category:Ambalavao se trouve dans Category:Cities of Madagascar.
Et le tour est joué :p

RFK Stadium[edit]

IMO you could downsample the image a little bit, place it to the article and nominate at English Wikipedia FP. IMO it might pass, and you have nothing to loose. I know, I saw it, but the thing is that English Wikipedia FP requires an image to be only 1 mega pixels to pass. Your image could be downsamped and it might pass. Once again I am not talking abot Commons FP, I am talking about English Wikipedia FP. Best.--Mbz1 19:11, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your picture is so fantastic. I cannot stop looking at it!

I would like to ask you to permission to print this picture in our Paracelsus magazine.

Paracelsus magazine is a product of global cooperation, with people from Europe, North and South America, and India volunteering their time and working without pay. The objective of the magazine is to blend ancient and modern wisdom of medicine and holistic healing. The magazine is published monthly in three different languages: German, Spanish, and English; it is read all on every continent of the world. It reaches physicians, alternative practitioners and ordinary people. Chief Editor is Dr. K. Parvathi Kumar from India.

Although we sell the magazine, we are a non profit organisation and the printing coasts are hardly covered.

Would you be so generous and give us your permission to print this photograph? If yes, we would need a higher resolution.
