Critically evaluate Flickr licenses
File:Scott Caan 2010 Hawaii Five-0.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. You may have preserved the information shown on Flickr correctly when transferring the image here, but the Flickr uploader is not the copyright holder of this image. Either the image was created by someone else, or it is a derivative of someone else's work. As stated in Commons:Licensing, only the copyright holder may issue a license, so the one shown on Flickr is invalid. Always remember to critically evaluate Flickr licenses. Photostreams with professional-looking photographs, album covers, posters, and images in a wide range of styles or quality taken by many different cameras often indicate that the Flickr uploader either does not understand or does not care about copyright matters. See Commons:Questionable Flickr images for a list of known bad Flickr users.

OK. Thanks for fixing! --Bensin (talk) 21:45, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

cropping

Cropping isn't actually appropriate for engravings, photogravures and the like, as the border is part of the artistic intent, and removing the border limits usage - for example, it is impossible to make a print that resembles the original if the outer edge is lost. There are conventions to Victorian printing that need respected.

In particular, it's bad to make changes of that sort to featured pictures. Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:35, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Fair enough. I'll request extraction of the images instead. --Bensin (talk) 14:38, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
That works, but I'm not sure you're using the right template for that. I think {{Extract image}} is just to say you can extract images; I'm not sure what the one is to ask for it to be done. Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:57, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Hmm. You know, I think someone's messed up {{Extract image}} somehow. Why's the template reference itself? Adam Cuerden (talk) 15:01, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Great! See you there. --Bensin (talk) 16:05, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I was going to start a new thread but my comment fits here, instead of requesting a crop, you can operate cropbot yourself, all you need is a TUSC account. Hope this is helpful, cheers! Nicoli Maege (talk) 13:30, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Hello! I've considered it in the past, and I may revisit that decision sometime in the future. Not right now though. In turn, I'd like to ask you to replace {{crop}} with {{Extract image}} when suitable, instead of just removing them with no comment. In this case I would have preferred some sort of feedback over realizing that my request had been dropped. The template may have been wrong, but I did add a comment to my edit clarifying my request. Just consider it in the future. Thank you for performing the crop/extraction! That turned out very well. --Bensin (talk) 15:07, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Hello, not a problem, I don't mind cropping images at all. And I apologize for removing your request, I thought it was in error (possibly a bot/batch request) rather than a user requesting a specific edit. I'll endeavor to do my homework more thoroughly next time. Nicoli Maege (talk)
