Pattypan

[edit]

Did you have a look at Pattypan? A java solution, that does a big part of what you describe here? The only thing with Pattypan is, that it only uploads local files, and the meta-data is in an Excel sheet (which is the only database format that non-technical users can handle ;-) Edoderoo (talk) 11:11, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the very late reaction, didn't see it. I know pattypan, I think the proposed solution here would be even simpler for the uploader (just provide a button "upload to commons" on a GLAMs website. The downside to it being that it costs more time to upload large amounts of images (for that there are the other tools). Basvb (talk) 20:36, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration with GLAMpipe

[edit]

I would like to propose to share experiences with the GLAMpipe project. It is a tool that creates a pipeline for GLAM imports. It creates nodes for importing files & metadata to the tool, transformations inside the tools and exports to Wikidata / Wikimedia Commons etc. It is currently supported by a WMF grant to make the adoption of the existing tool wider. See the project page and the code repository. If we find the time and resources, we may be interested in participating in the GSoC as a mentor, researching... – Susanna Ånäs (Susannaanas) (talk) 08:15, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
