Rename done. Andrzej Otrębski (talk) 14:04, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Can you write an explanation for renaming here? This photo is used on en.wiki, so it can be more questions tomorrow, I'm afraid. Wieralee (talk) 23:36, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

I thought the one I wrote was enough, but Ok, I'll try to be more understandable .

(Edit)
@Wieralee: I added an English description for the file in the infobox. It doesn't explain the differences between Fargo and Dodge but gives a link to the WP/en page about the Fargo trucks.
I'm the person who added this picture in the gallery of the WP/en page about the C-Series, misled by the Dodge part of the name. I'll change this picture, so there won't be moaning about it, I think Clin.

"Red"

Thanks for your categorising work. Red does in fact look an awful lot like a Series III, even having a 1972/73 number plate. But you're a conscientious categoriser; you followed the links and realised Red really is in fact a '63 IIA, and you made a category with a thorough description such that it wouldn't get miscategorised again. That is awesome. :) And I'm sure my brother will be amused that his old Land Rover has its own category on the Wikimedia Commons, too, haha. Thanks again for your hard work, you rock! Lewis Collard! (lol, internet)

I was indeed first perturbed by all the details indicating a Series III. And I didn't understand its categorization, all the more as your descriptions just said "Series IIa" (before I "rearranged" them Clin).
I think it's better this way, with the specific category: as you (more or less) say, it could help some less aware/curious people no to be misled by the "inaccurate information" of this Land Rover. Which is worth it's own category, by the way, as it's certainly an uncommon model.

Category discussion warning

IAA 2010 Volkswagen T5 has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Hello BarnCas: As I understand, it was you who created the Category:WSM vehicles, which last week contained two golfcarts and two sports cars. I transferred the british MG based sports cars, made by Wilson-Spratt Motors to Category:WSM (UK) vehicles. The golf carts shown are imported and sold under the name "MT Streetline" by two (or more) German dealerships; one is ESK and the name of another dealer in the internet reads golf cart center. The legal details (impressum) state the company's name as « Schenkel GmbH », and that company carries the logo WSM (for „Wilhelm Schenkel Maschinen“); and I doubt that this WSM makes sense as a category name in Commons. And the dealer Schenkel (WSM) sells under its WSM logo also machines from Mitsubishi Acricultural Machinery. Which explains to me, why one finds on the web offers of those golfcarts (from China) branded as "WSM Mitsubishi MT Streetline" .

En courte: je viens de regrouper les golfcarts dans la categorie Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, ce qui laisse une catégorie vide et superflue. Can we have that empty category be deleted? Regards, de:user:KaPe -- KaPe KaPe (talk) 20:44, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello KaPe!
The 2 MG based sports cars were added by OSX/OSX II, who never checks the categories for the pictures (s)he adds. It's not the first time (s)he is asked to act in a more intelligent way (see her/his talk page, I'm apparently not the only one to hope for that), but it appears that this wish looks like a lost cause. Any question about these cars should therefore be asked to this user...
About the golf carts, I don't understand why you "decategorized" the 2 files. Even when not considering that no WSM Mitsubishi MT 1200 Streetline seem to have been ever sold (I used several search engines and found nothing about such a product. But I may have missed something...), wouldn't it be more logical to keep the pictures in the category and to just add ", by Golf Cart Center and Franz Haag (as Flocken Urbano L6e)" to the description, or to modify the name of the category into something like WSM golf carts or any similar and relevant name? This way, people trying to find WSM MT Streetline golf carts in Commons would find them, whatever the seller is? I know that there are few files for now in the Neighborhood Electric Vehicles category, but I think it's always better to have a sub-category when several files from a less precise parent category are about the same subject.

Ps: sorry, my German is too rusty for me to answer in this language
_____
Edit: you certainly have already noticed that the MT 1200 shown in MT_1200_Streetline.jpg is in fact a Flocken Urbano L6e, as one can read on the roof side. For me, it doesn't infirm my "category solution", just confirm the fact that the 3 sellers should appear in the description Clin

Merci pour votre commentaire. Meanwhile, the de:user Franz Haag explained to me that the manufacturer of the pictured carts is Xiamen Dalle Electric Car (products shown at globalmarket.com, Company Profile at imexbb.com. That company sells its carts in North America under the label "HSK" (at the moment www.hdkexpress.com/ seems dead; I had viewed their certificate page this weekend). The company supplies its golf carts to dealers in Germany (for sales search for "MT Streetline") and in the future is supposed to build a "Flocken Urbano", which is Franz Haag's trademark.

Now we look for a category name that makes sense. What about "Xiamen Daile manufactured car(t)s"? Because, as I explained before, WSM is just one dealer's trademark, HSK is a north American trademark, MT golfline and MT streetline are names used in Germany for carts manufactured by Xiamen Daile. I have not yet found who invented "MT xy-line". MT Streetline is written on the pictured car; therefore I changed the description accordingly. However, Mr. Haag is the photographer and claims the pictures show his Flocken prototype. Which exists as a "PRODUKTVISION" at this moment. As I think that WP should not be a promotion platform, I want no category for that vision. --KaPe (talk) 15:01, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

@Kape: then what about a Xiamen Dalle Electric Car Co vehicles category, with both Automobile manufacturers of China and Vehicles by brand as parent categories, plus the dealers' names in the description? Let's keep things simple... For the record, by having categories about Ferraris, Renaults and so on, Commons is already and indirectly a promotion platform...
Anyway, and to be honest, I'm not really interested in electric golf carts, and I just created the category because I found these 2 vehicles during a search about another subject. For me these 2 similar vehicles should be in a specific category, and this latter should just represent the accurate brand name. But if you think it should be made in a different way, feel free to do it. Meanwhile, I'll asked for the WSM vehicles‎ category to be deleted, as it's not the accurate brand name of the 2 carts.

BarnCas (talk) 20:53, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

You convinced me. I supported the deletion and new creation at Commons:Deletion_requests/Category:WSM_vehicles#Category:WSM_vehicles. As parent categories, the previous Category:Electrically-powered automobiles by brand does not suit in my opinion. It should better be Category:Electrically-powered carts, which has the subs Category:Golf carts in China, and better Category:Golf carts.
Maybe Franz Haag would like to see his Flocken Urbano in Category:Neighborhood Electric Vehicles. His reconstructed 19. century vehicle is already present in Category:Flocken electric automobiles --KaPe (talk) 15:30, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
