Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 22:07, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Antique maps of Paris[edit]

Hi Balkanique! Can you upload some maps of Paris from raremaps.com. I can not download full size image from this website. Thank you very much!--Paris 16 (talk) 02:01, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Paris16ǃ Thanks for your message. I am uploading some maps today, just look at my uploads page. You can also download the maps in high resolution with dezoomify. I use the dezoomify plugin for Firefox and the command line program to download the high resolution images. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Zoomable_images ; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dezoomify/ ; https://github.com/lovasoa/dezoomify-rs/releases/tag/v1.8.8 .
Thank so much! I will try Dezoomify. Have a nice day! --Paris 16 (talk) 14:00, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stanford Libraries[edit]

Hi Balkanique - I see that you have uploaded quite a few maps and charts from earthworks.stanford.edu : great stuff! There are some Admiralty and related charts on the site that I am interested in uploading, but don't want to accidentally duplicate effort. Do you have immediate plans to upload more files from Stanford? If not I'll get on with this in the next day or two. Two charts I noticed: White Sea and Discoveries in the Arctic, there are probably more. Thanks. Kognos (talk) 09:34, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kognos:

Hi Kognos,

thanks for your message! I won't upload any Admiralty related maps from Stanford. I'll stick to Turkey and Istanbul related maps from Stanford. But in case I see a new Admiralty chart at Raremaps, I'll upload it immediately! Balkanique (talk) 10:45, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Great. I've started on the uploads. Kognos (talk) 11:41, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that's all I want from Stanford for the moment. I was right about the being "some more" - I've uploaded about 60... Kognos (talk) 14:58, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kognos: Awesome, I didn't even notice, that there were so many Admiralty Charts there. Keep up the great work. In case you see any maps of the Sea of Marmara anywhere, which aren't necessarily Admiralty Charts, let me know! Best from Berlin. Balkanique (talk) 17:56, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OS agricultural map of GB[edit]

Hi Balkanique

You have uploaded this map - File:Agricultural Map of Great Britain.jpg - but I can't download it, probably because it is well over the Commons limit of 100 MB. It's clearly a stitch of two separate sheets, so could you split it and upload the two sheets separately? Then both files would be below 100 MB. Many thanks. Kognos (talk) 20:20, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kognos:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P7edmyhBqg75Ee1WwvMGZfC2MpfSdBn8/view?usp=sharing I just uploaded the file to my Google Drive. you can just download it from there. Best.
@Balkanique: Thanks. I've split the file into the two map sheets and uploaded them with a few more categories. Kognos (talk) 14:37, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded image out of copyright in New Zealand[edit]

I've just uploaded this image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:History_at_a_Glance_-_Historical_Map_of_New_Zealand.jpg , which is out of copyright in New Zealand. I am not sure, whether it is out of copyright in the US though? If it's not OK, can you please delete this image?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best

Balkanique Balkanique (talk) 20:20, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Balkanique: I don't think so. The author (Alan Stuart Paterson) died in 1968, so it entered PD in NZ in 2019. But the copyright in NZ didn't expire in 1996, so due to URAA, this would only be PD 95+1 years after publication (2036). I will nominate for deletion now. —Matrix(!) {user - talk? - useless contributions} 17:24, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help! (Cropping piece out of Madaba Map)[edit]

Hi. I see it was you who uploaded the map (File:Palmer_%26_Guthe_image_of_the_Medaba_map.jpg). There is a Wikipedia article on Mamre and it would be quite useful to have there the piece of the Madaba Map regarding Mamre next to where it's mentioned. Would you be so kind as to crop the relevant piece, or to give me a brief instruction on how to do that? I'm technically not very skilled. There is a discussion of the map with precisely what we need, see here: that is what I have in mind. Thanks! Arminden (talk) 15:15, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
