Well, I've recently created an article on Spanish Wikipedia about the locality of Mesones (can take a look by clicking at this link). I would like to know whether it's possible to upload the coat of arms so that the article is definitely complete (at least by now). It is a bit difficult to find an appropriate version to take as a model. I uploaded this one on Scribd, it was from a publication issued by the Town Hall. There may be some on Facebook as well. I haven't found yet any official description, maybe due to the fact that it is a pedanía and not an independent municipality. What do you think about it? Jaramillo vs. Jaramilla[edit]

Veo que has revertido mi edición que eliminaba la categoría "Jaramillo River", pasando su contenido a "Jaramilla River" y redireccionando de la segunda a la primera.

Pongo en duda de que el curso de agua al que te refieres tenga el nombre de "Jaramillo"; supongo que tu fuente es el artículo de la Wikipedia en el que se considera que son dos nombres distintos para el mismo cauce. Pero nuestra querida enciclopedia no puede ser considerada una fuente; por definición sus artículos son resúmenes / reeleboraciones de las fuentes primarias.

Hechos:

1) El cauce de agua sobre el que está puesto el indicador-puntero de la info box no tiene nombre en ninguno de los mapas que he consultado.

2) Desemboca en un cauce nombrado "Valle de Jaramilla" en la 1ª edición del MTN50. En la última edición del MTN25 ya han sustituido "Valle de Jaramilla" por "Río Jaramilla" hasta la cabecera, en el Collado de la Quesera.

3) En unión con el cauce denominado "Río de las Veguillas" forma el río Jaramilla s.s.

4) Ni en los mapas del I.G.N. ni en los del S.G.E., en ninguna de sus escalas, aparece el nombre "Jaramillo" en esta localización.

5) El artículo de la Wikipedia se llama "Río Jaramilla", por lo tanto, caso de que alguien pruebe que existe una sinonimia, la categoría en Commons ha de ser la misma y, caso de que hubiera que redireccionar, sería a la inversa.

Si en un plazo razonable no aportas alguna fuente fidedigna sobre la(s) fuente(s) del topónimo "Jaramillo" o averiguas cuál de los editores del artículo la introdujo y él/ella la aporta, volveré a hacer lo mismo que hice, además de eliminar la supuesta sinonimia del artículo de la enciclopedia y reposicionar el indicador en el mapa.

1) No haga nunca traslados dejando el ítem de Wikidata colgado en la nada hecho unos zorros.
2) Cómo se llame el artículo en Wikipedia no crea ninguna regulación sobre cómo se tenga que titular aquí... Pero ya que se pone, en el artículo de Wikipedia también dice que se llama... Jaramillo.
3) Visor SIGPAC del Instituto Geográfico Nacional (capa correspondiente al mapa nacional a escala 1:50.0000): Curso bajo = JARAMILLO (donde por cierto están tomadas las fotos actuales albergadas en la categoría); El País: Jaramillo; Estudio de la flora muscinal del hayedo de Montejo de la Sierra (provincia de Madrid): JARAMILLO

Pues buenas tardes.
1) La única fuente fiable que cita es el visor de Iberpix y ahí no veo el "Jaramillo" por ninguna parte ni a ninguna de las escalas. Si se refiere al tramo en el cual la carretera de Corralejo cruza el río, denominado con el pintoresco nombre de "La Muralla China", poco antes de su desembocadura en el Jarama. Verifíquelo, por favor y mándeme una captura de pantalla donde esté el rótulo que yo no consigo ver. Yo me fijé en una herramienta más completa: el comparador de mapas que dispone de ventanilla para buscar el topónimo y si el algoritmo no miente, no existe ningún "Río Jaramillo" en toda la península.
2) El artículo botánico no es una fuente fiable; los autores pueden ser considerados autoridad en su rama de la botánica, pero no en toponimia ni hidrología. Lo del artículo de El País me parece una broma, francamente.
En espera de sus nuevas aportaciones, me reitero en lo anteriormente expuesto.
Y no se preocupe, que, una vez establecidos los hechos, se tratarán como de debe.

Pues mire otra vez... capa de 1:50.000, cerca de la desembocadura en el Jarama... Más fuentes: Boletín de la Comisión del Mapa Geológico de España, para que vea que no es cosa de dos días.

«no existe ningún "Río Jaramillo" en toda la península» Creo que está confundiendo la jugada. Los topónimos son topónimos (formas de llamar a las cosas) y los ríos son ríos (cursos de agua que no tienen esencia nominal alguna). Si niega de plano que el topónimo en cuestión se ha usado aplicado a ese río, va a ser difícil salir del impás de esta discusión. Un saludo y quedo a su disposición. Hablando se entiende la gente, me ha convencido, fundamentalmente por lo de boletín. Lo de la hoja de Tamajón podría ser error tipográfico, porque en la hoja de al lado lo llaman "Jaramilla".
Como es posible que nos encontremos en otro momento quiero aclarar que en el terreno científico-técnico no se suele hablar de mentir, sino de acertar o errar. Todas las personas con la mente bien amueblada no practican la fe sino, como dicen que hizo Santo Tomás, tienen que "meter la mano en la herida", es decir, verificar las pruebas tangibles. Yo no veía el rotulillo porque estaba buscando en otro sitio.

PS: Me pregunto si esta aparente discrepancia en torno a dos hidrónimos se la tomó alguien de forma más visceral de lo que nos la hemos tomado nosotros, porque el letrero señalizador marrón característico de los ríos correspondiente al cruce del curso de agua conocido la «muralla china» aparece tachado con pintura negra en google street view [1].--Asqueladd (talk) 10:19, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Most popular edition of Wikipedia by country[edit]

¡Hola Asqueladd! I saw you made this amazing map in 2016. I wanted to update the equivalent maps for French, Arabic, Portuguese, English, Spanish, Russian, and German because none of them are up-to-date. Unfortunately the source you used isn't updated anymore (but at least with this source we could have data from Sept 2018 instead of 2013...). The new website of Wikimedia Statistics doesn't offer the possibility to easily get this information. I asked other people here and there but so far without success. Do you have any idea how we could do?

(In the meantime I used your map to update articles on the English Wikipedia, such as this one.)

Also, as you're a contributor on the Spanish Wikipedia, you may be interested in this topic I posted there last month.

 Answer: Sorry, I will do no such thing and I won't bow to passive-agressive legal threats. I don't need authorization and I don't care what your name is. I don't know what you mean by saying that "my shield" [sic] is a free version, and how that could possibly be a problem, because in case you didn't notice, you can only upload freely reusable content here. You are "free" to upload another file with a different filename (as far as I am concerned, you could name it File:Escudo de Muñoveros de Antonio Tenés Gil (oficial, muy oficial y mucho oficial).svg), and release it under one of the "free" and "compatible" creative commons licenses, possibly needing confirmation via Commons:OTRS. If you follow that procedure, the file will be as "free" as the other one and it may be chosen (or not) in the Wikimedia projects, at the "free" discretion of each Wikimedia project. I truly hope those links I have provided you with (together with this one: Commons:Coat of arms) are helpful, because you are not the centre of the universe and I have better things to do than babysit a single-purpose user.
