hello

see you--Ievgen Voropai (talk) 18:32, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

File:Чилаверт.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi Antanana, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:Antanana/common.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!

I appreciate the offer of joining, but I've got a full workload, especially after the recent retirement of Fastily. I would think Ahonc would be a much better choice than me, seeing that he's both an admin here and a native speaker of Ukrainian. INeverCry 01:39, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@INeverCry: thank you for your quick response! well, Ahonc is helping to organize a contest :) so he cannot be a jury member --アンタナナ 08:21, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

I can help but most of my activity will be towards the end of the month.Geni (talk) 14:46, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

thank you very much! when does the end of the month start? actually, most work is for the end of the month. can you answer my email? we do need your email to set the jury tool --アンタナナ 15:12, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. WLE international

Being the nominated member jury from Germany, a while ago you advised me on what to do to get into contact with the people who organise WLE2015 international. I mailed everything needed to wle@wikimedia.org, and a reminder as well, but didn't get any response. Any idea what to do now? Thx, --Aalfons (talk) 08:11, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

hello. have you received the letter? 09:02, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
yes. perfect. thx! --Aalfons (talk) 09:09, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Quality images

Hello Antanana,

you threw some of the WLE Germany 2015 pictures on the Quality images page. Was there an idea behind it? "Reviews" there are not helpful for new photographers. More experienced ones do not take that for serious, anyhow. The evaluation results are in many cases worthless. I would not complain if photographers had been asked before and had agreed. Could you stop that, please? Regards, --Blech (talk) 17:39, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

hello! could you please explain what you mean? do I need a written consent of a Wikimedia Commons contributor to nominate a picture for QI? there was nothing mentioned here about it: Commons:Quality images. and why it is not helpful for new photographers? I nominated this one, f. ex., File:Коріння старого дерева в парку "Високий замок".JPG and a reviewer asked to remove the fingers on the right side. I then wrote to the photographer and asked her to do it. and she cropped the image. and it was made a QI. we have also nominated some pictures from WLE in Estonia and Russia. after the comments were given, I have contacted the corresponding teams so they can ask their winners to upload original files or remove the problems (if the problems can be removed). so, why is it not useful? it is not that I have just nominated them and forgotten. of course, some users won't react. (wiki)life can be so --アンタナナ 18:00, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
It would be better if the regulations required consent of the author. I would be quite upset if somebody nominated one of my pictures without asking me first. In some cases, if the result is moderated and translated to something people can understand, it might be useful. But a "nothing sharp here" is will not cause the photographer to improve the image, it will only annoy her or him. The german WLE team has not been contacted so far, we were all a little bit angry when we noticed it. But if you want to contact a WLE contributor from Germany, you can ask me for help, in case you need any. Regards, --Blech (talk) 19:09, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
@Blech: sorry, I have sent a letter to info@wikilovesearth.de asking to look at the winners, especially this one File:NSG-By-Li-00093.01Eistobel 13.01.2009-NWL3.jpg, as its quality is really low. is there any other email to forward the request to?
@Blech: at least four letters has been sent to info@wikilovesearth.de during this edition of the contest. if the email is not working (or nobody reads it), could you be so kind to give us another contact to work with?
@Antanana: The mails go to Nightflyer, I think we received some during the contest. That Eistobel picture is a good example for what I do not like on QI. It has only been criticized for being too small. At the jury meeting we had a really large screen and the picture filled it without any problems. --Blech (talk) 19:32, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
@Blech: a submission should have at least 2Mpx. please ask him/her to upload higher resolution of File:NSG-By-Li-00093.01Eistobel 13.01.2009-NWL3.jpg. winners are to be printed out. they are supposed to be of high quality for this --アンタナナ 21:45, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
I can try to contact him tomorrow. This is really the first time I see this 2Mpx-rule. WLE International should not hide them on subpages where nobody finds them. The German jury did not know anything about that rule. Who had this silly idea? --Blech (talk) 22:17, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
@Blech: the rules have been posted here: Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2015#Rules and on the official contest site wikilovesearth.org, there was a post about this Wiki Loves Earth 2015 – Rules, a twitter entry. the local teams can organize the local rounds differently, and have different (and usually more) goals. m:Grants:PEG/WM UA/Wiki Loves Earth 2015#Measures of success for the international round is clearly focused on pictures becoming valued, quality or featured, and being used in wikiprojects. that was our lesson learned from the previous year, when a lot of winners even couldn't get any recognition here on Commons. there was a detailed post about this Looking for quality, featured, valued images. it is a photo competition, so if the users want to win, they are supposed to upload the pictures that can win. there are prizes for this. the winners are to be printed, and if the quality is not enough, it is not okay. been there, done that. by the way, are you (or anyone from the team) subscribed to wikilovesearth@lists.wikimedia.org?
Yes, I am subscribed to that newsletter, but cannot remember a change of the rules there. The earliest note on the 2 MB-rule appeared on April, 15th, two weeks before the contest started. Twitter is waste of electricity anyhow. Your homepage may be good and necessary, but long-term staff does not check it frequently for changes. If we had been informed, we would have protested immediately. Better then than now.
There is no necessity that winning WLE photos also meet the criteria for QI or anything on Commons. Some may do, some may not. If somebody wants to print the images, he can do it. But I do not see that as a mandatory criterion. The main purpose is to illustrate Wikipedia articles, anything else is secondary. --Blech (talk) 05:29, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

--Base (talk) 05:18, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
06:48, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 in Ukraine. Survey

Опитування за лінком / Survey is here.

20:11, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

A year ago you've started to rename some categories here, but dropped and created a confusion situation. Could you finish? --Figure19 (talk) 06:51, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
