Deprecated License[edit]

Deutsch | English | Italiano | മലയാളം | Português | +/−

Hello. Thank you for uploading Image:Human mtDNA migration.png, however the license that you have uploaded it under has been deprecated. Please could you select a new free license that describes the rights of the image correctly? If you are not able to do this, the image will be deleted in 7 days.

For more information on licenses that can be used on Wikimedia Commons, please see Commons:Licensing. If you have any questions, please ask at the village pump. Thank you for your patience and consideration. This is an automatic message by Nikbot.--Filnik 04:18, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Robot_asimo.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Foto[edit]

Personal explanation[edit]

Hi Andrea, I was not trying to cast aspersions on your character, but felt it was inappropriate to remove a file from an article then claim the file was useless and could have no conceivable use. In fact I thought the continued queries about why I have such attachment to the images was verging on insinuating that I had some alterior motive, I ignored such suggestions as they are totally irrelevant to the merits or otherwise of keeping the images. I of course have no association with the images apart from them being on my watchlist (no doubt due to some maintenance editing I did previously).

If the pictures can be shown to be copyright violations then I of course have no problem with deleting them. But I can not accept that they are absolutely useless or outside the scope of wikimedia. I agree that they are of very poor quality, but they do illustrate something. They may or may not represent a real process, but that is irrelevant to Commons (just as diagrams showing how cold fusion was meant to work have a use even if the effect doesn't actually exist). Even if completely removed from all articles I would still keep the images so that later editors of the article can see what was removed, and decide for themselves - perhaps it would give them ideas for further illustrations or improvement of the article. Wikimedia is not a Stock Library for beautiful photos, just a repository for images that might be used in wiki articles. Description and categorization of the images is the important thing, cleaning out poor, or marginally useful images isn't actually needed. Most images will probably never be used in a wiki article, the important thing is that we can find an illustration here when we want one.

I admit that my views are far from those of deletionist users, and see no advantage in deleting images from Commons just because there is some possibility that the images might be copyright violations. This is simply because there is that possibility for EVERY image here - How on earth can I prove to anyone that all the images that I have uploaded, are mine, from my camera. I may easily have stolen them from, say, my brothers camera. When I stop contributing here (get run over by a bus, die of old age, get bored etc), and can no longer defend my images, will someone decide to start deleting some of them because it is improbable that I created them?

I entirely accept that you are working to improve wikipedia/wikimedia in good faith, and hope that my efforts to keep these images does not frustrate your work. I apoligise if my actions are making your blood boil, sorry :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 22:32, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Dferg (talk) 17:21, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you take requests to translate things from English to Spanish?

Consulta[edit]

Saludos y gracias. --Jorjum (talk) 10:44, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

gracias for your administrative help[edit]

Hi Andrea, just wanted to say muchas gracias (e.g. for the copyvio spotting and help at User_talk:CPGirlAJ or the old Juan Galea case)!
Do you need any additional user rights? Want help to patrol or want a rollback button for faster vandalism revert (without a edit comment)? I guess you know both from eswp. ;-) Feliz navidad! --Saibo (Δ) 04:34, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to thank :) I never ask for additional rights 'cause my contribs are not daily. I don´t patrol; mostly I found copyvios in es:WP articles or take note of another user´s warnings and then follow uploader's contribs (like this case or this one), but rollback could be usefull, specially 'cause from time to time someone try to write an advertisment or vandalism here. Thanks! It´s a nice detail. When you need something from es:WP... Merry Christmas! --Andrea (talk) 08:57, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, unless users do any harm with rights (also because they simply may not know how the tools work and how the tools are used best) they will use them to help on the backlogs. ;) So, I would have no problem with "not daily".
Okay, you got rollback now. Adios! :-) --Saibo (Δ) 12:07, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problemas con imágenes[edit]

Hola Andrea.

Me ayudas?--Inefable001 (talk) 20:49, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gracias por responder.--Inefable001 (talk) 06:00, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Correo OTRS[edit]

Hola Alejandro, nice or interesting that you apparently can speak and understand English.
Also photos which contain several copyrighted objects are derivative works of those. Only if those objects are totally unimportant and not the subject of the photo, then your photo is no derivative work since the objects are de minimis. --Saibo (Δ) 01:02, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

--DPC (talk) 10:53, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Gary Ridgway Booking Photo 11162001.pdf. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Saludos --Ecemaml talk to me/habla conmigo 23:03, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:Ruben Paz2011.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.

Thank you!
