You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

About scientific works[edit]

I'm retired out from Commons because I'm not an artist : in an inappropriate way, scientific work is submitted to the same rules as the artistic creations (the art work merchandisig rules must apply indiscriminately to all images without exception : down with the derivative works, the PD and the FoP, see the notice lower) :

  • it's forbidden to draw with Photoshop an image derivative since other images ;
  • a collective palaeontological model in a public and free entrance scientific Museum, is considered as an art work concerned by the copyright rules ;
  • a palaeontological anonymous drawing in a scientific book, is considered as an art work concerned by the copyright rules.

Notice : in the artistic hand, Commons rules not understand the fact that the major part of palaeontological, archaeological or naval reconstitutions which are generally not art works, but often anonymous scientific and collective works. However nobody can find on the web another image identic with mine, but only some others more or less similar : my sources, because any reconstitution or model must stay within the limits allowed by researchers at the time it is made, and must necessarily be inspired by other pictures already scientifically proved, for example in the specialized magazines. In the scientific other hand, many scientists not understand the fact that any reconstitution or a model is necessarly in great part conjectural, because even in the rare cases of preservation in amber, tar, peat or ice, the organic material is damaged, particularly concerning its colors. If one does not understand this process of « conjecturally reconstituted being » (whose most impressive examples are the « real size Dinosaurs » sitting proeminently in the gardens or in the front square of various Museums, or else prehistorical Hominidae presented in dioramas by many Museums), this one will consider as « inaccurate » and/or as a « copyviol », the whole of the computer-generated images and volumic reconstitutions, and Paleontology, Archaeology or Naval history will be deprived of all its iconography intended for general public, apart from the scientific pictures in specialized magazines, that will evade this iconographical « cleaning », possibly concerning even some great masters as Mauricio Antón, Dimitri Bogdanov, Zdeněk Burian, Heinrich Harder or Charles R. Retrait de "Commons"[edit]

Bonjour Amélie Pataud,

Je viens par hasard de lire ton message sur la page de Yann à propos de ton poisson préhistorique reconstitué. Et je vois ci-dessus que tu es harcelée.

Je soutiens à 100% tes remarques, qui me paraissent frappées au coin du bon sens. A mon tour, je m'élève contre cette dictature indifférenciée du "No FoP in France", bien souvent maniée par des étrangers qui n'y comprennent que pouic. La catégorie des demandes de destruction concernant simplement "Paris" est navrante. Et stupide.

J'ai subi en son temps le même type de destruction stupide, alors que j'avais l'autorisation du site (mais pas sous forme d'OTRS), cela concernait la reconstitution d'une grotte préhistorique sur la Vézère avec des personnages, pas très loin de ton... Abri Pataud ! C'était une image de ça.

Puisque je vois que tu fréquentes assidûment le Muséum de Paris (nous sommes donc voisins), je m'interroge: peut-on conserver des images d'animaux de la Grande Galerie ? Après tout, ils sont naturalisés, et donc, FoP, ou pas FoP ? C'est à devenir fou.

Pour autant, je pense que tu ne devrais pas abandonner le terrain, et ne pas cesser de contribuer à "Commons".

D'abord, tu es détentrice d'un savoir et de connaissances sérieuses et sourcées dont nous avons besoin. En tous cas moi, j'en ai besoin. Ensuite, pratiquer la politique de la chaise vide, c'est laisser vaincre les "autres" et leur confirmer la justesse de leur combat. Et enfin, pardon pour cette remarque, mais "Commons" est trop masculin, et perdre une contributrice, c'est éminemment regrettable, de ce point de vue aussi.

Voilà. Je vais de ce pas m'opposer aux demandes de suppressions dont tes images font l'objet.

Bien amicalement, en espérant te voir revenir sur ta cessation de participation.

(sur la féminisation des titres dans ton infobox, je pense que tu fais erreur...Mon épouse est "avocat", elle y tient, et ne va pas lui mettre un "e" à la fin, tu te ferais engueuler).

Féminisation des titres[edit]

Bon, allons au débat.

Je n'ai pas été clair.

Je ne suis pas "par principe" contre la féminisation des titres, pour autant qu'un féminin existe, et/ou qu'une forme féminine d'un titre ne veuille pas dire autre chose.

Je m'explique: ma résistance n'est pas technique, elle est grammaticale, ou plutôt lexicale.

"Enseignante-chercheuse" me va très bien. "Avocate", ou "pharmacienne", moins: ces personnes sont titulaires d'un diplôme de "pharmacien", ou d'"avocat".

Même si ce n'est pas très joli, le féminin de "docteur" existe, c'est "doctoresse", et sûrement pas "docteure", ce qui est une abomination lexicale, comme "procureure" ou "professeure". Depuis quand le seul ajout d'un "e" est-il la marque exclusive du féminin ? Pourquoi pas "procureuse" ou "procuresse", ou professeuse ?

Dans l'armée (pas au théâtre!), la colonelle, la générale, sont les épouses des colonels, des généraux. Jusqu'à sa mort relativement récente, on a parlé de "la maréchale Leclerc", et elle n'était pas "Maréchal de France", mais l'épouse (méritante !) de son baroudeur de mari...
