Interwiki links[edit]
Hello Algont, thanks for all the interwiki links to. Thats great. But please do not insert the interwiki links into individual image description pages, but in the article page instead. For example, you inserted a link to nl: and a translation into Image:Excalfactoria chinensis (aka).jpg. But there is a commons page for this image (and all images of the same species): Coturnix chinensis. There already are translations for en: and de:. Because they are valid for all images of the same species, its a much better place for them. So, I moved them to there pages. Please post such comments on my talk page so I know about them, I noticed it by accident. Now when an image is coppied to comons it is usable on all other wikis. IF the interwiki copy of the image were deleted same image would have been used as its filename hasnt changed. Copy/Move mean the same thing. --Cool CatTalk|@ 18:23, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open![edit]

Dear Algont,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.

Wiki Science Competition 2019[edit]
Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015 and Wiki Science Competition 2017, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2019 has started in the whole world. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), Ukraine and France (active during November), but it's still open in all the other countries.
If you want to take part where WSC2019 is still open, please consult this page. There is also an international upload category with no national prize.
If you are an expert user, please consider that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in the [[:c::Category:Images from Wiki Science Competition 2019 by country|national categories]] even if not uploaded with the main interface.
Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, i.e. "nature and wildlife".
If you already took part in a country that has completed its upload phase please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate such files at next step. World finalists will be finalized after March 2020.

It is now completed in Russia (active in May), but it's still open in almost all the other countries.
