Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Jorge I de Gran Bretaña[edit]

Por favor, mi pregunta para Rubpe19 Mi correo es orsidan@yahoo.com Por si no sale publicado ese e-mail, lo repito como orsidan (at) yahoo Bien, necesito averiguar un dato sobre la muerte de Jorge I de Gran Bretaña. Tiene mucha importancia lo que en realidad sucedió. Ya sé que muere el día 11 de junio de 1727, pero no me refiero a eso. Dos días antes, o un día y pico, menos de dos, sucede el problema de salud en la carretera. Es el día 09 del mismo mes y años, y está realiando un viaje. Falta todavía para explicar lo quiero saber. La versión de todo internet, incluso la página de Wikipedia en que tú participaste muchas veces --- o sea https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_I_de_Gran_Bretaña --, dice: "... Jorge falleció en el transcurso de su sexto viaje a su natal Hannover desde su coronación. Sufrió un derrame en la carretera que unía Delden con Nordhorn el 9 de junio de 1727​ y fue conducido en un carruaje al palacio del príncipe-obispo en Osnabrück, donde falleció horas antes del amanecer del día 11.". Agreguemos algo importante, y es que, como es lógico y natural, Jorge viajaa con su custodia personal y casi seguro con dos medios de desplazamiento, distintos, su caballo ensillado y un carruaje real, y alternaba ambos, y aquí llegamos a mi pregunta, que ya casi te diré. Fíjate que se publica diciendo así: "Sufrió un derrame en la carretera que unía Delden con Nordhorn.. y fue conducido en un carruaje...". Entonces, PREGUNTO, ¿justo iba montado a caballo al producirse el percance, y es por eso que luego aclra por separado que fue conducido "n carruaje" y además podemos suponer que montó para hacer más visible su persona en la llegada a la ciudad, en la zona en la que ya se encontraba? Ése es mi punto. Acaso Jorge se hallaba a caballo, y NO en carruaje al momento del percance. Entonces, cayó del caballo. Ya sé que NO dije cuál es la importancia concreta y efectiva de este punto. Pero existe y puedo informarla. Te pregunto si puedes responder con una fuente fidedigna. He visto tus contribuciones a esa página de Wikipedia y por eso busco comunicarme contigo. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.
