Hi! I'll revert my new version and upload it separately if you like. White balance is tricky because it's a mix of tungsten and (mainly) daylight. I picked as reference the museum notices which are printed on white paper. Now that you say it, there is a pinkish tinge on the picture. I'll upload new versions. Anyway, I shoot in RAW so you can try to cook up your own version if you wish. It's a bit late now in France; I'll do it all tomorrow. Don't hesitate to give me a little prod if I forget you. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 22:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you in advance. Ciao, --AM 14:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I uploaded the new version at Image:Vercingetorix stater n2 CdM alternate.jpg. Does it look more natural to you? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 16:29, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not really convinced. But there is no comparison, so it is hard to tell for me how it looks in reality. What material is it? Gold? Bronze? At least the three-dimensional impression is much better here. --AM 17:31, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I suspect those are gold staters. I've always found it difficult to "recreate" a correct colour for gold when I couldn't control exactly the colour balance. Following your remarks, I'll revert my updates and upload them separately. Still, can I crop Image:Vercingetorix stater n2 CdM.jpg? I feel there's too much empty space around the coin. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 18:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't do it, it's perfect like it is, the coin needs some space around to develop its irregular shape. But this is a question of your personal taste. And it is your photo. You can try several versions. Sometimes you are blind and don't see the obvious. In the end Trial and error never fails. ;-) --AM 21:09, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

USB Flash Drive

Hi AlMare, I've already written on your german talkpage, but you've said you're 'vorwiegend hier tätig'. My friend has got a USB Flash Drive with no name or box with a name on it and so we can't get it running on her old Windows 98, without a driver. The stick exactly looks like your animation. Could you please write me the name oder product number or whatever, so we can look for it? Thanks a lot. Sven 19:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

No idea. I bought it and threw the papers away. But it works fine under XP. --AM (talk) 20:49, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Banana flower

Hey

Thanks or voting for my image at FPC [I would have preferred a support :)]. When you say it need dusting, what do you mean? Is there anything I can do to convince you to change your vote, as you are probably the deciding factor? Regards Muhammad 05:31, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

On the upper part of the flower there are a lot of light dust particles. You could clone them out. I'm sorry, but Crapload is right. Still a nice pic! By the way, I've taken this one last year. Regards, --AM (talk) 16:30, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. Shouldn't the presence of dust increase its EV ;)? What lens did you use for your picture? Muhammad 05:44, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Nothing special, it'a a macro-shot with a simple Canon Ixus 70. Ciao, --AM (talk) 08:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Please read PD-old twice. It says in bold text "life of the author plus 70 years". Now, we have no idea about the author and hir life. Nader book was published in 2006, which makes the work non-free—at least with PD-old license. Please check COM:CT#Public_domain and tell me if you find any acceptable (no doubts, no assumptions) license for this image.--OsamaK 02:45, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Italian problems

Hi AlMare, I think you should read this. There is at least one photo you took among those that the Sopraintendenza ai Beni Culturali dell'Etruria meridionale want to be deleted. There is no consensus on deleting all the photos, but you may want to have the photos you uploaded to be deleted. Bye --Jaqen (talk) 23:18, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I read parts of this discussion before and I can't believe it! I'm taking photos in italian museums since 30 years and nobody ever wanted a fee for photographing inside the museums. I remember darkly one or two cases where they sold tickets for using tipods and some museums that did not allow cameras. But in the big majority photos without flash where allowed. We should not give away theses pieces of the heritage of human culture in advance. And, no, I don't want my photos to be deleted. Ciao, --AM (talk) 17:22, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello, AlMare!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Hello,

It seems that this image comes from http://www.camparigroup.com/en/press_media/image_gallery.jsp that's not your own photo. Yann (talk) 11:16, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Excuse me, I've mixed up two pics. Originally, in the german article de:Campari there was a photo I've edited a long time before. Afterwards somebody modified the article and replaced my photo with the one you've deleted. Regards, --AM (talk) 12:10, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it, ask its master (Filnik) or go to the Commons:Help desk. --Filnik 17:39, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

I added the license. --AM (talk) 13:31, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

This media was probably deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Minturno_Plan.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (:File:Minturno_Plan.jpg).

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Knuffig: Als Urheber/Bearbeiter einer anderen Version werde ich erst gar nicht benachrichtigt und finde das hier per Zufall? -- smial (talk) 10:24, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
-- smial (talk) 10:08, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Orecchiette Pugliesi.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:Image:Orecchiette Pugliesi.jpg) and the above demanded information in your request.

File:Museum of Ethnology Vienna 001.JPG

Hi, do you think you could retouch this image and increase the sharpness File:Museum of Ethnology Vienna 001.JPG? Thank you very much. Gryffindor (talk) 16:59, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

This photo was already edited. Do you have the original too? It is out of focus indeed. But I could try to sharpen it a bit. Regards, --AM (talk) 12:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
I made a first try. But the shutter speed was too long - you can't get it really sharp. --AM (talk) 13:40, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi there. I just uploaded the original image, will it help you? File:Museum of Ethnology Vienna 001 original.jpg. Thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 23:15, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Via Appia map

Hi, you are the author of the file File:Via Appia map.jpg. If you have some free time, do you think you could put on the map Aequum Tuticum, between Beneventum and Aecae (its position is on the detailed map File:Via Appia.jpg. If had been able to do, I would've put it by myself, but I had not. I hope you could help me. Thanks in advance.--Thecinic (talk) 10:58, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

amaro bottles!

I love your pictures of amaro bottles; did you collect the bottles in Italy? We have a large collection ourselves, but haven't gotten around to photographing them all. good work! (unsigned edit by user:Shabbychef on 16:34, 12 October 2009)

Thank you :-) Most of the bottles we bought in Italy. I know, there are much more different brands with very funny labels there. Just use one dull autum sunday and take photos of your collection. Salute! --AM (talk) 16:34, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

I ask about "Fellatio_Isis_Osiris_modified.jpg"

Excuse me,I want to ask about an image called "Fellatio_Isis_Osiris_modified.jpg" which you contributed. That image is a trimming with Chapter 1 of "Book of the Dead" possessed by the British Museum. That it is a mummy of a man called "ANI" that it is drawn and that the woman who wrote that you do a fellatio is a wife of "ANI" or a younger sister be written by "エジプトの死者の書―宗教思想の根源を探る" ISBN-10: 4409420070 ISBN-13: 978-4409420072

I think this image not to be Isis with Osiris who is ancient Egyptian God. Please show the grounds that you named "Fellatio_Isis_Osiris_modified" to the title of the file.Thank you.Arude (talk) 08:02, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

File:Jacopo de' Barbari - Venetie MD retouched.png

Not sure why you reverted back to your earlier version of this image; it has blown out highlights in central lower part, has inconsistent tone and is lacking in detail (again, especially in the lower half). Would you prefer I just upload my retouched version as another file? Earthsound (talk) 00:37, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Hallo AlMare.

Erledigt.

Hi!

Just to be exact - back in 1919 there was actually neither Soviet Union nor Communist Party of the Soviet Union. There were the Soviet Russia and the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party.--Uostofchuodnego (talk) 09:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

You are right, the name at that time was "Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic" or simply "Soviet Russia". But the "Russian Social Democratic Labour Party" was renamed to "Russian Communist Party" in 1918. I will change that. Thank you. Regards, --AM (talk) 16:30, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
