File:Moonandsixpence.djvu has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Categories[edit]

Hi Akme, please respect Commons:Categories. Particularly don't over-categorize images! -- Ies (talk) 13:18, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Sorry —Akme (talk) 13:25, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mother Wiggins Chickens[edit]

Hi. How do you feel about me uploading cleaned images into the namespace that you used for these images?

I ask because another wikisourcerer did not like that option so much.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 03:13, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, I don't understand the question. What do you mean by "cleaned images"? But if you mean uploading to "category:Mother Carey's chickens" in Commons, you're most welcome. As long as you don't replace the existing ones without giving us a chance to make a comparison. Thanks —Akme (talk) 11:48, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I did this to an existing namespace: File:Zingiber officinale - Köhler–s Medizinal-Pflanzen-146.jpg the changes to the file can be seen at the bottom, and the original is there also and easily accessed. I have doubts about the names of the uploaders, however. There were a lot of botany files being uploaded by "Filabot" or some such which no longer seem to be here.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 18:34, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OH! Also. I saw a corner. That was the only single thing that I thought maybe I could do the images for this. I don't like to see the image beyond the printed border. Other than that, I have doubts whether I can improve upon them.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 18:37, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Seems a nice job. You can the same try here, but the problem is that these are artistic works, not a technical ones. Some of the drawings have very subtle coloring. Too much editing may change this. If you feel that you can improve this without changing the color balance you are welcome to try. [Edit: But please leave the Title Page as is.] —Akme (talk) 19:32, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My work, such as it is, is going to be exactly the same as the work of others. My work was being stolen from me here. I only got a few done. I was trying life without my server and it really sucks, in the truest sense of the word and it is also too much sadness.
I am very very sorry that I told my neighbors how to fix their XBoxes. Since then, they and their Window$ warez have become way too leet for me.
Sorry to have bothered you.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 01:34, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No bother. Actually, you made me notice that the border of the images (at least) need to be cleaned. Hopefully I'll remember to do it in a day or so. —Akme (talk) 18:25, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

After a weird day, I decided to get back to these images whose thumbnails keep disappearing. They are nice and a great challenge. All of this was done without looking into your improvements to yours. Of the color versions, two of yours are much much better than mine! Probably several of the others as well. I am going to put my black and white versions into your text. If you have problems with that, either you or I can revert those changes -- just ask if you want me to do it.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 21:24, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I'm done with the Chickens for the present (except, maybe, to clean the borders). I'm not too sure about the use of "overfloat" for the Title Page because, some times, increasing the font size in the browser produces weird results. But, I'm sure many people on WS disagree with me. —Akme (talk) 03:56, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Akme: , starting to make the Category:Frederic Rodrigo Gruger, I was wondering what the best option would be. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 13:41, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I don't have much of an idea, but two suggestions: Wikisource has a page on him - Frederic Rodrigo Gruger, if it's of any help. Also I'd suggest a category redirect for F. R. Gruger (illus for The apple-tree girl).
I'm sorry, but I mainly use Wikisource; I use Commons only when I need to to add illustrations to the books at WS. Good luck —Akme (talk) 17:28, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Akme: noticing you created that category, the title actually reads: Jacqueline of the Carrier Pigeons (Q53034236). A rename would imo be appropriate. Thank you for your time. :-) Lotje (talk) 10:16, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Duh, how dumb of me! Thank you for renaming it. I think there's a jinx with that author for me. That's the second of her works I've misnamed! —Akme (talk) 19:35, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

novels vs editions[edit]

Hi. When naming categories for Wikisource works, it is a better idea to name them for the edition rather than as a novel. The reason being that if there is something with a "... (novel)" differentiator then it means all images fit under the one cat. Similarly when having the description for works at Wikidata, please say that it is the edition, otherwise people join the wrong things together. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:08, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To hear is to obey. :) How would you suggest I describe a mag story in Wikidata: Adventure story by abc in xyz mag, 1923? Is that okay? —Akme (talk) 20:27, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Akme, since you were the uploader, would you change the name of the author from "Unknown author" to Neith Boyce? Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 04:25, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lotje. I'm sorry but Boyce is the author of the text not the cover decoration. I've changed the description. Hope that's okay —Akme (talk) 18:04, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
