I think that the file version of 5 November 2010, 13:18, should be ok. Why do you want edit it? Greetings. --Angelus (talk) 20:02, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Because user Antonu dislike the color difference between this vector image and the bitmap File:Original Barnstar Hires.png. Personally I think that darker version looks a bit better.
  • Also I modified the star recently so it became more simmetrical, but I hasn't uploaded it to Commons because of the displaying problems. As far as I understand, if I upload it as separate file, it can be deleted. Maybe I could upload my file somewhere in User namespace?

Ain92 (talk) 20:12, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I'll work on it! But next time please respond in my talk page or, at least, you should warn me of the response with the template {{Tb}}. Greetings. Angelus (talk) 22:54, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
  • Sorry, I didn't know about this template, I'm used to another order of user talks. In Russian WP majority of users add the talk page to watchlist by default, so I added {{Usertalkback}} for greater convenience. Ain92 (talk) 11:56, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
  • And please, don't forget to mention me in authors, you didn't referred to me in File:Peace Barnstar Hires (gold).svg, although you used my design. ;-) If you do so, I'll immediately agree with deletion of my old version. Ain92 (talk) 11:56, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Template:User talk

Hi! Please, could you add the Russian language to this template {{User talk}}? Thanks a lot and best regards! Angelus (talk) 15:57, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

✓ Done. Ain92 (talk) 17:06, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

- A.Savin 12:19, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Ain92 (talk) 15:38, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
Wolf hooks in heraldry, Flashes in heraldry и Lightning in heraldry. Ain92 (talk) 15:38, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- A.Savin 16:44, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

I think you should change this image by polish checkerboard (roundel) addition. The branch insignia (since World War II) looks like that:

  • – 1960s
  • – nowadays – flying personnel
  • – nowadays – non-flying personnel

Mboro (talk) 09:41, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Hello!

What is the purpose of this category? Should it sort Technicals of Iraqi Police, of the Iraqi Military or some private-built vehicles in Iraq? Please specify and please write detailed descriptions of categories you create (read COM:CAT). Regards, High Contrast (talk) 17:35, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Hello. Unfortunately I incorrectly named the category, it should be Technicals in Iraq and IMHO should contain the technicals photographed in Iraq. So, it should illustrate the usage of this vehicles in the country. Would it be OK then? P.S. I have mistaken because of Technicals of Afghanistan. Ain92 (talk) 18:14, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Technicals in Iraq would be better. --High Contrast (talk) 18:31, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

At you service

Category:T-54-2 in Technical museum Togliatti. ShinePhantom (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Wow! Ain92 (talk) 12:58, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
ShinePhantom (talk) 14:35, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Category:T-72 in Technical museum Togliatti ShinePhantom (talk) 14:47, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
ShinePhantom (talk) 16:23, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
  • File:9P133 in Technical museum Togliatti.JPG - уже было. ShinePhantom (talk) 20:24, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Tanks

Dear Ain92, please note that I am the creator of Category:Tanks in Royal Military Museum, Brussels. Please also note that the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary defines a tank as "a military vehicle covered with strong metal and armed with guns. It can travel over very rough ground using wheels that move inside metal belts". I noticed that your native language is not English, so are you sure that your understanding of the term tank is correct? See also en:Armoured personnel carrier: "The British Mark IX tank was the first specialised armoured personnel carrier." Based on this, I think the actual meaning of the word tank in English is much larger than you think. Of course, I am not a specialist and I know sometimes the technical vocabulary is more precise than general vocabulary. I also understand that for the sake of categorization, we sometimes have to use narrower definitions. Nevertheless, it seems to me that it not evident at all to decide whether for example a FV101 Scorpion is a tank or not (BTW, the article contains this sentence: "More than 3,000 were produced and used as a reconnaissance vehicle or a light tank."). BrightRaven (talk) 23:46, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Well, you are right that in general language (no matter, Russian or English) any tracked AFV could be called tanks. In the time when Mark IX was created the term Armoured personal carrier just wasn't invented, so no wonder it was called a tank. AT-1 (en) doesn't become a tank just because it was called "артиллерийский танк" (literally artillery tank), so incorrect (according to modern terms) historical naming is not so rare. As for the Scorpion, I was guided by categories in FV101 Scorpion. Nevertheless, I reverted my edits because some (there's no consensus) Russian sources call it a tank and it seems for me you are right. Ain92 (talk) 11:14, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
  • PS Do you see any grammatical mistakes in my reply? If yes, please, help me to improve my English. =)
I can understand the reasons why you changed the categorization that I made. I just wanted to let you know that the message you left on my talk page was inappropriate. It sounded as if I had made a big mistake (as categorizing hundreds of pictures of dogs in Category:Cats). This problem concerns a limited number of files and the definition you use for tank is subject to discussion, so I do not think this kind of messages was necessary. I do not question your right to modify these categories, but please stop sending messages meaning "it seems you do not even know what a tank is". PS: I do not pretend to correct the English of other people, I just wanted to remind you that, as non-native speakers, we both have to be careful about the meaning of English words. It is the reason why I had looked for a definition of tank when I created this category. BrightRaven (talk) 13:27, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Well, I apologize because apparently my words sounded too sharp. And the exclamation mark was certainly unsuitable. The dictionary prompt me a word overreact, I think it's appropriate. ;-) As far as I remember this was the first such an awkward case and I would do my best to ensure this would never happen again. Should I apologize on your user talk page? Ain92 (talk) 14:33, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
  • PS And one of the Scorpions is not a Scorpion.
Of course I accept your apologies. Best regards, BrightRaven (talk) 14:55, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Help

You seem to be a specialist in tank affairs. Would you take a look here? Paul Hermans (talk) 06:54, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello!

I have reverted this edit by you because in 1938 there was not yet a World War 2. Hence the category was incorrect. Regards, High Contrast (talk) 11:06, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

  • Hello. Yes, of course. I was mistaken because it's quite difficult to notice one odd Bundesarchiv photo made in 1938 when you're moving 190 WWII black-and-white photos with Cat-a-lot to fill a brand new category. Could I ask you two other questions?
  1. What's the difference between Water bogging, Vehicles fording and Vehicles wading through water?
  2. How do you think, is it good when World War II tanks of Germany contains both Panzerkampfwagen IV and Panzerkampfwagen IV tanks during World War II? I did it just like T-34 tanks during World War II. Ain92 (talk) 14:12, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. No, sorry, all the photos I had I already uploaded, so no more trucks. I don't even live near so I can't take them now (and believe me, I'd gladly go back to the museum). Bye, --Amendola90 (talk) 19:55, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
