Marshrutka - Lviv

Hi

You (or a bot) have just removed the file:1 big.jpg, of a marshrutka in Lviv

Is there anyway to recover the file and get the necessary tags put on it.

There was no mention of it on the Lviv discussion page, and as the editor who placed it there or created the file upload did not inform anyone of an ongoing problem, we had no idea it was going to be removed. I have looked at the other marshrutka pics and none of them are close to the one we had.

I understand that this is an unusual request, but it means radically changing the page if we cannot get the pic restored

Any help would be appreciated Thanks--Chaosdruid (talk) 22:23, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Why Lviv? Its image showed the bus in Cherkasy (as written in description). I don't believe that it is own work of uploader. If it is one he should provide image in larger resolution. --Anatoliy (talk) 01:28, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply - obviously I cannot read the description - it has already been deleted.--Chaosdruid (talk) 01:08, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Please use English there, the census shows ethnic not linguistic composition, and 131774 thousand Ukrainians for a territory of five million inhabitants is only 2.5 %. You have greater percentage of Ukrainians in Crimea yet you left that region completely blanked out. Also if you have a look at these census results you will find them most interesting: In 1989 there were 195883 Ukrainians living in Krasnodar Kray. Yet there were also 235026 Ukrainian SSR natives living in Krasnodar Kray. That same 1989 census showed Ukrainians to be roughly ~ 3/4 of the Ukrainian SSR. So thus, we can assume that the real amount of ethnic Ukrainians that made up the migration fraction of 235 thousand is anywhere between 160 and 180 thousand, this means that the absolute majority of Ukrainians living in 1989 in Krasnodar Kray were non-native migrants. Now between 1989 and 2002 the population fell by 1.9 times, so the census figures speak against including Kuban as a region of Ukrainian language. I believe this is sufficient evidence to restore my version, and at the same time I support the inclusion of Crimea as a faint tint of blue as of course the opposite happened there, with the number of Ukrainians and Ukrainian speakers did increase. --Kuban kazak (talk) 15:40, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I would like an answer to my query, and the article unlocked with my version reverted per the evidence I have provided, regards. --Kuban kazak (talk) 18:41, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
I answered there.--Anatoliy (talk) 19:58, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Ahonc/Archives!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

All pictures with the name "Pikiwiki" are part of Wikimedia Israel's project, and all legal arrangements have been made as to the copyright issue. If the problem is merely legal, please recover the file, it is 100% legitimate as explained in the links I provided in the "Pikiwiki" template. If the problem is the content of the image - please explain why it is improper. Thank you. Drork (talk) 10:00, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

It was deleted because its description contained source «http://pikiwiki.org.il» and license PD-self. Such combination of source and license is impossible. If the image was taken from Pikiwiki, put licence from that site and add proper source (with link to image on Pikiwiki). If it is own work, put PD-self and add source «Own work». P.S. And give more precise names for images.--Anatoliy (talk) 10:37, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
This project works a bit differently, and all is explained in the links given here
This file has been submitted through the Israeli Pikiwiki project and uploaded here automatically. The project is cooperation between the Israel Internet Association and Wikimedia Israel in an effort to promote the concept of free content on the Web, by creating an image collection of digital-format, good quality photographs, documenting events relating to the history of Israel, or depicting places of distinction in Israel and the Middle East. The Pikiwiki Project is managed from 2021 by the "Heritage Stones" group.

Please consider notifying the project before renaming or deleting this file. Further information about the project can be found on the commons-l mailing list.

As for the license - it was wrong due to a bug which is already fixed. The license should be cc-by-2.5. All statements about copyrights are checked and kept at the project coordinator's office. Once we make sure that the image is legitimate we upload it to the Commons without keeping a copy on our server. Wikimedia Israel is a Wikimedia chapter, and we keep the rules very carefully. Drork (talk) 15:56, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

OK, I restored it.--Anatoliy (talk) 19:47, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. I should also add the project coordinator's mail if further inquiry is needed: pikiwikiـisoc،org،il ISOC-IL is the Israel Internet Association which finance and manages the project with Wikimedia Israel. Drork (talk) 03:13, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
Okay, now I see the problem of this image is not the license, but its content which could be inappropriate considering the scope of both the Commons and the "Pikiwiki" project. Personally, I don't mind having it deleted on this ground, but please send a letter to the address above, or leave a message on User talk:Pikiwikisrael explaining what is wrong with the image's content, so that the project's coordinator could update her listing and screen out images with similar content. Thanks. Drork (talk) 03:23, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Please don't move categories with a bad name or for which their is no agreement
