Pay attention to licensing
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.

File:City of Miami Seal Logo Lockup Horizontal FullColor.svg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file.

If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

The reason given by the user who added this tag is: If this is an official logo of the city of Miami, {{PD-FLGov}} would likely apply. However, I wasn't able to find this image in a quick Google reverse image search, so its origin is unclear.

Thank you IagoQnsi. I uploaded this while attempting to replace to the correct version in the City of Miami Wiki Page. This is the current version which is incorrect and damaged (as it was traced.) However, I never actually confirmed the submission, I was testing the upload, not sure how it ended up on my page. To your point, the official City of Miami Press Release will be public in the next week or so. We can wait until the press release of the logo / seal redesign if it helps with clarity, licensing and notability.
To give you context: This is a project I worked with the City of Miami (reference 1, reference 2, reference 3) that we will publish via press release publicly within a few weeks with attribution to my design studio and myself as design lead. I've been chatting with a few Wiki Editors as to how to upload the correct SVG version and get attribution. I currently own the rights to this design work as it was registered under my company name and transferring ownership to the City as the client. Acevvvedo (talk) 14:41, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that's really cool! That explains why I couldn't find it on Google, if it hasn't been officially announced yet. Very nice work!
I believe, if you are going to be transferring the copyright to the City of Miami, that the logo will then become public domain under Florida law. In the meantime though, you remain the owner, and the logo remains copyrighted. Because the seal was published elsewhere before being uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, we need proof that you are the copyright holder and you agree to release it under a free license. The most straightforward way to provide this is by emailing our Volunteer Response Team. This form will help you generate that email (make sure to send it from your @acvdo.co email address). Let me know if you have any issues; this is really neat so I definitely want to make sure it gets sorted out! Cheers, IagoQnsi (talk) 22:22, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much @IagoQnsi! I think so as well! It was a passion project that turned into an opportunity. I will be transferring ownership to the City but will take some time. The announcement will happen in the beginning of April. I can provide proof of ownership to the Volunteer Response Team. Really appreciate your help with this, hope I can return the kindness. I may have some follow up questions regarding notability and attribution on the actual Miami page, but will first establish ownership then I'll ping you if you don't mind. All the best. Quick update @IagoQnsi — press release is out now (Monday, April 3rd) Here is the link it includes my name and studio name. Wondering if this is all we need so I can make the correct upload to the file with attribution. Appreciate all your help and pointing me in the right direction. Putting the link to the Instagram announcement here aswell. Acevvvedo (talk) 18:49, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
