Hello there!
Just before you place a nasty template here, I just wanted to tell you that if you want to say something about possible copyright violation(s) or possible deletion(s), please consider to deliver the message at **the page dedicated for my uploads that were eventually deleted**, instead of my talk page.
I don't like my talk page filled up with *only* deletion notifications.

Bot & WikiapiJS[edit]

Hi there, all ok with your Commons:Bots/Requests/RijksmuseumUploaderBot ? I just noticed you use WikiapiJS for your project. My bot is based upon it as well and should get approval in coming days, would be nice to know another approved bot uses the same framework as mine. Also a light ping to announce you Kanasimi and myself pushed to create a proper documentation (here). It still needs better descriptions and texts (Kanasimi is not a native English speaker and lean toward technical wordings), but we are pushing for more accessibility . Yug (talk) 15:30, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Yug: . Re my bot, I have been busy with other wiki activities, and haven't tested new changes. Re WikiAPI documentation, I am glad it exists now -- it was really difficult to get some things working at first, and I had to go through the source code to understand what was happening. If there is something I can help with, do let me know -- I will be happy to help! (And thanks for the heads up!)
Acagastya (talk) 16:05, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. The Commons bot request process is raw, so i have to pause it for a second time. On using WikiapiJS I did the same, it looked promising but documentation was too rude so I painfully learn it via copy-engineering. With the new doc it becomes human friendly. Kanasimi's code is actually elegant, so you and me are likely the two first adopters out of a small group to come. I got something under preparation coming next month to speed up on-boarding further . I keep you in mind, I'm good at organizing small groups so maybe i will find some interesting things to push forward. Thank for your Rijksmuseum bot project, also. :) Yug (talk) 20:37, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Morning ! There is two things you can do indeed !
1) On your github repository, edit your repository details to add `wikiapijs` tag. I just tagged my project, and requested Kanasimi to tag his. It's in your project's github page, on the right of the "About" title, the gear icone.
2) When you resume coding and using wikiapijs, report your wishlists on Wikiapi's Github issues, including documentations improvements, in a positive way :). Kanasimi's needs encouragement and support on this side, he is too deep into the code to write accessible documentations for all. We can encourage him to go slower on those, and we can suggest improvements and wordings. Yug (talk) 07:34, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yug: Oh, sure thing! These days, I generally push my code to git.hanabi.in instead of GitHub, but when I do, I will surely add the tag.

Hi Acagastya. Since your the OTRS volunteer who verified this file's ticket, I'm wondering if you can chck something else. The uploader of this file has also been heavily involved in editing en:Meghna Patel even going so far to request that it be restored per en:Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/Archive 358#Meghna Patel. The uploader might mean well, but also might not be aware of things like en:WP:COI and also en:WP:PAID. I realize you can7t discuss OTRS stuff anywhere on a public page or with anyone other than another OTRS volunteer and perhaps those who send the emails, but if based upon the information you received via email you think that the uploader might be engaged in some undisclosed paid editing (the uploader has been also editing articles about other Indian entertainers) could you please send off an email to paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org per en:WP:PAID#Reporting undisclosed paid editors. You can also add a en:Template:UPE to the top of the English Wikipedia article and en:Template:uw-paid1 to the uploader's English Wikipedia's talk page if you think there's something going on that they need to be advised about. Please understand that I'm not asking you to reveal what you know, but only expressing a concern about the possibility of some undisclosed paid editing going on. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:28, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, @Marchjuly: . I would be willing to provide any help or assistance I can. Though given the nature of the discussion, can we first discuss it on IRC? My nick is acagastya, and you will find me on both #wikimedia-commons and #wikinews.

Hi IP 103.48.106.161. Assuming that you're Acagastya, I've never really used IRC but I could probably figure it out. However, I think it would be better for you, if you really share my concerns about this based upon information contained in any emails you're privy to as an OTRS volunteer, to probably discuss things with other OTRS volunteers or with some English Wikipedia administrators via IRC to avoid anything that might be mistaken for en:WP:OUTING or seen as a violation of whatever agreement OTRS volunteers are required to sign. Any information you provide to me via IRC will probably be something that I can't really discuss anywhere on English Wikipedia (e.g. at en:WP:COIN) due to privacy concerns and I couldn't really say where I got it from if I tried without saying it was from you. If the uploader posts something of their own accord anywhere on English Wikipedia or Commons stating they're connected to the people they're creating/editing content about or that they're getting paid to edit content about these people, then for sure I can try to advise/warn them about things like en:WP:COI and en:WP:PAID, but they have to provide that information of their own accord. I could ask if they have a connection by posting something on their English Wikipedia user talk page, but they can just say they don't and there's not much more that I can do. I'm not an English Wikipedia administrator so you telling me such informaiton might be seen as a violation of WP:OUTING; however, (per paragraph 5 of WP:OUTING), you emailing or discussing things on IRC or via email with an English Wikipedia administrator, etc. isn't going to be seen as a violation of WP:OUTING. For reference, COM:OUTING seems to be pretty much the same as English Wikipedia's policy on the matter, but it's only an "essay" on Commons and not established policy like it is on English Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:13, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
