Thanks for tagging images like this one for speedy deletion, but please note that some are ineligible for copyright. Please have a look at w:en:Threshold of originality and keep up the good work! Cheers, →Na·gy 07:39, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. I will pay attention to this kind of logos. Thanks for the link. Abigor (talk) 17:55, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Changing username (en.wiki)

Did you place this request under the name Abigor001 on en:Wikipedia:Changing username/SUL? bibliomaniac15 22:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Yes that is me. I am trying to get a global account. But Abigor is in use on some project, but didn't post anything. Abigor (talk) 05:17, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I'm writing to you about your recent message on my talk page. First, you should note that I am not the original uploader of this file, I only removed the borders from the original; so you warned the wrong person. Second, this file was already nominated for deletion and kept (as you can see on the discussion page of this file); the conclusion was that it is ineligible for copyright, as the license states. Therefore, I don't see why we need permission to use this image.

Eventually, why did you add the welcome template on my talk page? I've seen it some weeks ago, and removed it afterward because I don't need to be greeted every time I look at my talk page. So please leave it like that. Thanks. --Tryphon (talk) 01:07, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
I will remove the No permission template. I use a script that place the template on the page of the uploader. I am not sure but I think it takes the last uploader. Sorry for that.
I placed the welcome because I placed the Npd template on your talkpage en didn't see a welcome template. And I was thinking maybe he didn't recieve one yet. So I placed it.
See Ya, Abigor (talk) 01:30, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
You should probably adjust your script then; either warn the first uploader, or better yet, require human interaction for files with multiple uploaders (also note that some uploaders are bots themselves). As for the welcome template, there is a bot going through new users' talk pages and adding it, so you should assume that if it is not present, either the user removed it or the bot will take care of it. Best wishes. --Tryphon (talk) 01:43, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Detail of image

What about [1]? The licence was correct, I put all information about author and source of original file. What was wrong? Ludmiła Pilecka (talk) 13:37, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, There was no problem with the image. I pressed the wrong button by mistake. Therefor I removed the template from your image and talkpage. See ya, Abigor talk 15:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Question why tag the image with a clear different name rather then the image which is causing the problem? Gnangarra 14:05, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, on the other image there was a history. Your image was new. That is the reasson I tagged your image as duplicate and not the other. And I don't believe the image is the problem. But I think people must pay more attention before the do something. Abigor talk 15:41, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Problem with my pictures??

Hi, you have left me two messages saying source and author details on two of my photos are not given. I am confused, because the details are listed on the files.

Could you please confirm that this is an error, and that my images won't be deleted!

Thanks.

"Kudosmaker (talk) 19:43, 21 December 2008 (UTC)"

Hi, I can't confirm it was a error. But I can confirm that it is solved now. The problem was that you didn't give enough source information. In the future you can try to always say own work by the source field. Because when you place there a name ( and the name is not your username) whe can't see where the image is from. So please say own work when you created the image by your self, or give a direct link when the image is from the internet. Abigor talk 20:08, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Hoi, you indicate that a picture of mine is to be speedy deleted because it uses Vista. Sorry, I do not use Vista, so now please restore my image. Thanks, GerardM (talk) 15:34, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Hoi,
Let me try to explain. The image I nominated for speedy deletion was a screenshot. On that screenshot was the new google browser. But on the bottom the toolbar from Microsoft Windows was also visible. Windows is a protected program so the bar must be removed or it will be a copyvio.
I am very sorry but I can restore the image. I am not a administrator, I don't have the rights for it. But you could ask for a second opinion on COM:UNDEL, there you could ask for undeletion.
I think it is more easy for you to make the screenshot without the windows parts and upload it again.
I hope this answer could help,
Abigor talk 16:08, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
The green-blue thing is Windows XP. Vista has more black. Still non-free though, including the Firefox and Chrome logos. GerardM, if you just intend to show the lack of fonts, it’s better to also scroll the page down, so the non-free Wikipedia logo is not visible. --AVRS (talk) 17:09, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
AVRS I see I have to colours wrong. I work on Vista with green and bleu, but that is a configuration option. Abigor talk 17:19, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

From Shichikokuyama regarding file:RonzillaFavoriteThings.jpg. This is my first image upload, and I am unsure what I need to do in order to confirm: 1) I am the creator and owner of this image; and 2) it is freely available under CC Share-Alike. Please advise.

Hi,
You uploaded a CD cover. Cd covers are protected with copyright by the people who made the cover origonal. So you can give it free under the license you did. Cd covers are licensed under Fairuse. And therefor only allouwd on a few wikipedias. Can you tell me on witch wiki you wan't to use it? Than I can point you in the right direction. Abigor talk 19:32, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I only want to use it on the English wikipedia. It is a CD cover and I am adding a page for the CD. - Shichikokuyama

Oké. The best way to go is upload it locally. On the English Wikipedia fair use is allouwd. But before you can upload on that Wikipedia you have to be a member for 4 days and have 25 contributinons. So when you have finish your article I think you can upload your image. You can use this link. When you need any help just ask me. I will do my best to help Abigor talk 19:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advise. Can you go ahead and delete the image from Commons? I will re-upload via English Wikipedia. Thx - Shichikokuyama

What image ?

Hello,

Usually, I insert the translation within a {{fr|}} template without removing anything already present.

I checked my contributions, but I cannot pinpoint which image I mess with.

Sherbrooke (talk) 19:42, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Ow I am very sorry. I have seen it all wrong. [2] I was thinking you where changing to french but you where only updating. I am very sorry that I put the wrong message on your page. Keep up the good work. Abigor talk 19:46, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

License

Hi, thanks for your advice. I was changing the license because it is likely that many pictures uploaded by User:Farid91 8 are copyvios. Could you please check that and notify the user? Merry Christmas! --190.233.56.213 21:31, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, The best way to handle that is using the nominate for deletion button on the left side of your screen. (Toolbox) You can give your opinion and reasson for the nomination there. Please make sure you give good arguments while nominating. See ya, Abigor talk 21:34, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
Thanks for your message. I have translated it with google translate because I don't speak your language. I hope you can understand English or else I will try to find a Administrator or user that can help us. The permission must be send by email to COM:OTRS so it can be archived into the system. I can not do that because you have the rights and stuff. Please send your permission by email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Please give me a note if you understand what I am saying or not. Thank you very much. Abigor talk 21:54, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Your Welcome. Abigor talk 13:51, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

For tagging my file for rotation. Do you have any idea why it uploaded 90 degrees off? I had it rotated before I uploaded it (and it displayed fine on my local machine) but then it appeared to gain a lean to the left! Very strange, I wish I could work out why, so I can avoid that mistake again. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 14:04, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I really have no idea what went wrong. I do a lot of things but uploading isn't one of it. But I understand that a Mac computer have some problems sometimes. But many thanks for your image. And have a very nice Christmas. Abigor talk 14:08, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm. Oh well, I don't know either. We'll see what happens next time. I'm having a great Christmas thanks, hope yours is absolutely excellent too. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 14:16, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
A late reaction but I had a great Christmas. Thank you, Abigor talk 19:04, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Your Flickr reviewer request

Hello. As a result of your request at Commons talk:Flickr images/reviewers, I have added you to the reviewers list. Please see the instructions at Commons:Flickr images/reviewers and add {{User trusted}} to your userpage. Best, Tomasz W. Kozłowski 19:02, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, I will do the best I can. Abigor talk 19:05, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi

How can I upload files, like a picture of a book or a film, without violate the copyright rights? Thanks, Alcacer1 (talk) 19:44, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
Book covers, Cd covers, posters are all protected by copyrights. The only way to upload them on commons is to get permission from the original author or rights holder. That permission should be send to OTRS. When the receive the permission the will try to verify it and you will get a respond with a ticket number. When you place the ticket number on the image description page it will be fine.
Now I know its kind of hard to get the permission under a free license and most of the time you will not even get permission.
There is a other way, Some Wikis use a Fair use policy, Those project are listed here. On those project you can upload the image locally without any problems, and without copyvio. So please check of your project is listed there, and upload it locally or try to get permission.
I hope that this answer could help you,

usurp on pl.wiki

Hi Abigor, your account on pl.wiki has been renamed (Abigor001 -> Abigor). Regards, LeinaD dyskusja 20:23, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

File:Armin Only.jpg

Deleted cause of "No fair use at Commons"? It's Public domain. Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Arminonly.jpg

Hello,
Do you have a source that says the logo is Public Domain? Only a link to en.wiki is not enough.
I am very sure that that logo is copyrighted by the management of Armin van Buren. So before it could be Public Domain you have to get permission from the management.
So since there is no proof of any permission by the uploader on the English wikipedia that is is released in the Public Domain, I would say it has the wrong license on En.wiki an should be uploaded there as Fair use.
See ya,

How to ask for undeletion?

Hi Abigor, could you please tell me what should I do to ask for undeletion? Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 17:46, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
You can ask for undeletion. We have a page for request from that kind. Please go to COM:UNDEL, and make your request there.
Thank you,

Re: Pascal9b.jpg

You zapped this assuming copyvio. 'tis not indeed. The image was given to me by a family member. My great grandfather founded the company. The image I uploaded is public domain. Please restore it. Thank you kindly, and a happy new year.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:44, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Cool. It's strange being over here on commons. I didn't mention: The image I uploaded is for the page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Pascal%27s_Hardware_and_Furniture

The old logo was black and white. Our company's logo was red on white.

Am I doing this properly? If not, please advise. I am a little shaky on commons image issues. Thanks.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:50, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok, never mind. I figured it out. I uploaded it to wikipedia not commons. Sorry to trouble you.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:21, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Sorry for the late reaction we didn't had any Internet today in the office. The problem with the logo is easy to solve. If you want to have it on Commons so you can use it on all Wikimedia project you have to send permission to OTRS. It's a easy and small email that you have to send. Just something like:

Hello,
I am .... and I have the rights to release our company logo in the Public Domain.
I know that everybody can use my logo for personal or commercial use.
Best regards,
<name> <function> <Company>

Please not that you have to send the email with a address that can be verify as a company address. The other way is like you did, upload it locally on the English Wikipedia. Your logo can now be used on only the English Wikipedia and not on other projects. I would like to give you the advice to change the license in CC-BY-3.0 or something like that. Now everybody can use the logo without giving credit to the author. Even your competition could use your logo to promote there stuff. I hope you can do something with my answer. If you have any questions please come back to me. Best regards, Abigor talk 16:45, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Fair use

Thank you for informing me about using not allowed material on Commons. The whole upload was quite an interpretatitve mistake, for that matter I have a request, it would be wonderful if you delete this file immediately. Thank you very much.

No problem, I am happy to inform people about fair use. It's better than let people get blocked. A admin will delete the image asap, I am not a admin and don't have the buttons to delete. See ya, Abigor talk 23:03, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
