Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Commons to read and edit pages; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 193.240.244.156). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in, such as:

When you edit pages:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any galleries, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing pages maliciously is considered vandalism.
Also feel free to ask a question on my Talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! You are also free to ask a question at the help desk or village pump, you could otherwise add {{Helpme}} on your talk page to ask for help here, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Thank you again for contributing to the Commons.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:00, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

overly deep categorisation[edit]

Hi. Creating categories that are by location by day for some period of time in the past is over-categorisation and should be avoided. These categories that only hold one or two images should be avoided and actually make work for people to remove later when they are discovered. So plese stop now.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:02, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello billinghurst,
I protest against your massdeletion as an act of MASSIVE vandalism and thus a violation of our rules here at the commons. Quite a lot of the categories deleted by you have numerous subcategories. None of those should have been deleted. If you are not able to distinguish between DAY and MONTH or even YEAR you should immediately stop working here at the commons. Look for instance Events in Krefeld by year and your edit 2023-08-26T04:58:56. Shame on you doing so. As a consequence of my arguments I request you to
  1. stop immediately vandalazing our project,
  2. apologize for your wrongful action, and
  3. undelete those categories which have been deleted by you against our policies.
I request you to do so within five days - that is until 18 September 2023. Otherwise you must be warned and punished.
