The Sandpainter a.k.a. Brian Pike Environmental sand artist. Having retired from financial and management accounting, Brian is now able to devote more time to a life-long interest in the many facets of the art and history of manipulating sand, both as unfixed and permanent sand pictures, and the more challenging task of creating compressed sand pictures in bottles and chemists' jars. This interest was aroused during his regular trips as a child to the Isle of Wight for family holidays, but it was a visit to the reserve collection at the V.and A. in the mid-sixties to view the Georgian sand pictures donated by Queen Mary and delve into the extensive library on the subject that persuaded him to experiment and try to replicate the work of the Georgian sand artists using modern methods and techniques.
